RE: Wheel Bearing Temp Question

:h Lynmore, where are those bearings on the Z? Deck spindles maybe? The front axle pivots on those bearings. Most Z's have no pivot. :S Got it. That is one I wish I had.

RE: A/C compressor will not shut off

Mine did that. That relay is/was an integral part of the circuit board that was accessible from inside the trailer. I put a new board in and all was well,

RE: Wheel Bearing Temp Question

:h Lynmore, where are those bearings on the Z? Deck spindles maybe? My Toro Z is just coming up on its 20 yr birthday and I have never paid any attention to the two front wheels except hit the grease zerk once a year. The deck spindles I grease every 8 hours.

RE: Question for mechanics about replacement starters?

I would check the price on one like say ORilleys. I bet they offer one with a lifetime warranty. I have never had to take advantage of the replacement warranty. :h Whoah, just noticed you needed opinions from "mechanics" well that isn't me.

RE: TV breakdown 2 days into trip

I personally think that is kinda premature. Who knows, if nothing else caused maybe you just pulled a bad number. I don't even get serious about inspecting them until 100K.

RE: What are your yearly registration costs for your truck?

$51 in NM for a 08 Chevy 2500 diesel- but free to 100% disabled Vets like me. UMMM, I think you used the wrong word "free." I prefer to call them complimentary here in IL. ;) It starts at 50% in IL

RE: Water Leak

I had a head scratcher that turned out to be the connection to the pull out faucet head was loose. Water was running down the inside of the faucet and dripping out under the counter. :S

RE: Need a lift for my 5th wheel hitch

My hitch is hanging on the king pin as we speak. Why go through all the gyrations?

RE: Problem with remote-operated dump valve (cable style)

So you didn't have to move the PVC piping out of the way or shift the tank? I have replaced a few. Bought the assy off amazon. I always had enough play in the piping to be able to slip the old one out and the new one in. god luck.

RE: Checking Generator oil question

I have a lawn tractor that is just the opposite. Oil is always up on the stick when the cap that has the stick on it is first loosened. I do it two ways. one wipe and restick it or two loosen the cap a little while doing other checks and then come back to the dip stick last as allowing air to enter the top of the tube allows the oil to subside to a true reading.

RE: Toilet bubbles/spits up ???

If it is the poop pyramid, there should be a lot of info through the search on this forum. Back when I had to deal with pyramids occasionally. Was an easy task for me. I just got one of those flexible wands from wally world and stuck it down in there and blew the pyramid to smitherines. My wand has the nozzle on the end that twirls as it shoots the water out. Only pain is dragging the pressure supply hose into the camper. And it cleaned up the level sensors in the process.

RE: Generator powers tv, microwave, nothing else

Ummm, I have had converters (don't know what my 2010 is like since it has not given any problems in my 2010 fifth wheel). However i have had one go out in an older 5th wheel and it was the style that did plug into a receptacle adjacent to it.

RE: Your experience with a Dually vs SRW hauling 5ver

I think you have to look at the wheel base as opposed to just the length of the box?

RE: Cleaning up my stabilizer jacks

Well I am not an RV Tech, but I use oil on my slide gears all the time. Seems to help keep the corrosion and rust down.

RE: Make it white once more

No offense meant, but what's the obsession with the roof having to be white? If it's not leaking, is in good shape, other than visually, why stress out over it. And personally, a pressure washer is the last thing I would use on a rubber roof. Yeah, there's no problem unless you get too close, but big problem if you do. And all that scrubbing and washing has got to be taking years of useful life off the roof. I go over mine once a year with Spic & Span, Murphy's Oil Soap, and a SOFT brush. I'm just interested in getting the superficial road grime, dust, and dirt off. i do not get it either :h i always claim that the dirt and bird stuff up there helps protect the roof. BTW if you are as old and fat as me you would have to use a mirror attached to the end of a 12 foot stick to look up there. ;)
