RE: A question for all of you refrigerator experts...

Thanks to all! We found our problem. After Scott suggest it’s still running I went out and checked. I saw no lights so thought it was off. Then when Dutchman posted the PDF of the refrigerator manual I read it from front to back and noticed the diagram of the on off switch. No lights. Uh oh! So I went back to the barn and voila, the refrigerator was indeed ON! Thank you for catching my dumb mistake....y’all are the BEST!

RE: A question for all of you refrigerator experts...

I don’t have an ice maker and I went out and double checked...it is off. I do think there is a hugh buildup of ice inside the unit but not inside the compartments. They never had any ice buildup yet every morning I have an entire pan full of water which has melted. First time it’s ever done this. Thank you for the refrigerator manual. We bought it as a repo with 4,000 miles on it.

A question for all of you refrigerator experts...

We have an original Dometic Model RM 2652RV refrigerator in our 2006 Gulfstream Ultra Class C. It works great on the road and always has, but this time when we got home (after being gone for only one week), it keeps defrosting. By defrosting I mean we turn the refrigerator off, put towels in the bottom of the freezer and refrigerator compartments and leave the doors open. Usually the freezer towel has to be rung out a couple of times over a day or two and the refrigerator just has some moisture. After they dry out completely, we prop the doors open and leave them like that until our next trip. This time, we have been home a week and the freezer compartment nearly fills up with water and the towel has to rung out every day. Today, same. Any ideas about what is happening or comments?

RE: Is there a safe place to stay in Tucumcari?

Thank you for your suggestion. They also had an an Arby’s, Chester’s Pizza and other food available on the premises. Showers were available for truckers but I didn’t ask if RVers could also use them. Great place!

RE: Is there a safe place to stay in Tucumcari?

We found a Loves just outside of Tucumcari and as my hubby gassed us up I went in and asked if we could stay for a few hours. They have a special place for RVs away from the big rigs. Quiet, lighted and as safe as any Walmart. I give it a thumbs up!

Is there a safe place to stay in Tucumcari?

We don’t need an RV Park, just a place to pull off and sleep a few hours. Thanks!

RE: Recommendations needed for a nearby anniversary trip please.

You are exactly right! That’s what I’ve run into.....it’s 750 miles to everywhere I’d like to go. We have a wedding to attend or we’d just do it anyway. Eagles Nest does save is a hundred miles and gives us a chance to go by our daughters home in OKC on the way so it is where we’re heading. You guys never fail to get me on the right track. I’ve been to Fort Davis and love the area, the observatory and vibe of west Texas. Thanks again to everyone who weighed in. Any additional thoughts on Eagle’s Nest and area, please share.

RE: Recommendations needed for a nearby anniversary trip please.

GREAT IDEA! Any specific RV park or campground you’d recommend there?

Recommendations needed for a nearby anniversary trip please.

For our 45th anniversary next week, we just decided to take a short (1-2 weeks) RV trip to somewhere cool but don’t want to have to drive very far. We like places like Estes Park, but from us (Grove, Oklahoma) it is 775 miles away. Is there a place in the mountains or cooler temps you all could recommend? We will default to Waco, Texas and do the Magnolia/Fixer Upper sites which is only a little over 400 miles. I already had that trip planned, including Harvest Host stops, but the heat is stifling right now so I’m about to change my mind. Thanks for any info you will share.

RE: Corn on the cob in microwave!

This is unbelievably easy! The corn goes straight from the grocer to the micro without any messy prep. I cook two ears for 4 minutes then hold with a kitchen towel while cutting off the stem end (opposite silk end) with my larger, sharp chef's knife. Easy! THEN slather with ranch dressing and roll in crushed ranch Doritos. Addicting!

RE: Beginning stages of planning Natl & State summer trip

Thanks again for all the great information. Yes on the Black Hills portion. We just got back from a 12 day RV trip there and loved the area. One of the reasons we had decided to scrap what we had previously planned for our 2019 summer family trip, however, we now realize this trip may be better in 2020 to will give us more time to prepare. I so appreciate all the links and personal experience. It will really help as I get into the meat of planning and preparations.

RE: Beginning stages of planning Natl & State summer trip

Thanks for the quick replies. I know the campgrounds and cabins fill up fast but it is really overwhelming getting started. So many options... We have camped in Yellowstone before and it was so difficult to have the 8-8 generator use rule. We were completely out of sync during that whole week.

Beginning stages of planning Natl & State summer trip

We are planning a multi state, national park tour for next summer with our kids and grandkids, 7 people in all. We will have a motorhome with a Jeep towing and a large SUV for this road trip. Each national and state park along the way, we will want the ability to hook up the motorhome to electricity and have available water and a dump site on property (we and our two grandkids will stay in the motorhome AND have small cabins for the adult kids. We will do a loop from Oklahoma to South Dakota to Montana to Wyoming and back to Oklahoma. While in Montana, we want to go to Little Big Horn and to Glacier. Questions: 1 What accommodations would you recommend near LBH as described above? 2 What accommodations would you recommend near Glacier as described above? 3. If we do the Canadian side of Glacier, what accommodations would you recommend as described above? Everyone has passports, what else is required if we have a dog? What arrangements can we make for our self defense weapon we always carry when traveling? 4 Any particular advice for us as we plan like must dos or must sees? Favorite restaurants or shops? Thanks in advance for getting us started.

RE: Route from S. Dakota to Devils Tower in Wyoming

Thanks anyway! We seem to have come just a little late in the season for some attractions.

Thanks so much! Is 111 to Aladdin ok? Then 24 to Devil's Tower?

Route from S. Dakota to Devils Tower in Wyoming

We are leaving S. Dakota heading for Wyoming. We're camping on Highway 385 and want to head to Beulah for the Vore Buffalo Jump on 90 then north to Aladdin on 111 and on 24 to Devils Tower. Can this route be driven in a 32' motor home towing a Jeep?

RE: First time to S.Dakota

Today we are breaking camp and moving farther north to see Deadwood, Sturgis, Lead, etc. Thinking about staying in the Spearfish City Campground and use it as a base. What specific things are fun to see and do for the next two days in the area besides drive the canyon road? Favorite restaurants? Stores? Drives? After a couple of days we are driving into Wyoming to see Devil’s Tower and possibly stay at the KOA. We heard they have a cool evening activity. Then on to Boysen State Park and possibly to the Tetons.
