RE: A very old stray {The Old Fella Story}

Good morning everyone. The Greenville area used to be a very laid back community. In the last twenty years it has gone to boom town. So many new homes and new shopping centers. Woodruff Road is a nightmare. The state for the past three years has been working on a new interchange where 385 and 85 intersect. It is just about finished, but I don't see any advantage to what they have done. The traffic pattern has been altered and changed hopefully making it easier traffic on 385 to merge with 85. The only problem is folks don't know how to merge. We got some rain last night, not much but it wet the ground. We have more rain in the forecast for today. The fur gang is well and looking for a walk. I have a doctor's appointment so I have to get moving. So I will close wishing everyone a blessed day. Be sure to give the fur baoes a hug for me and be sure to tell someone you love them.

RE: A very old stray {The Old Fella Story}

Good morning everyone. As I look around me and what is going on with rezoning and building new suburbs I find my world is shrinking. I go out less and when I do I don't go that far so anything that's going on outside my ten to fifteen mile range doesn't bother me. The amount of new homes going up around us is astounding, The golf course was sold and five hundred new homes are going up there plus some new condos. Down the road from there is a new suburb with seven hundred homes going up and this morning I found out there is another new suburb going up not far from our church and a new shopping center is going up down the road from us. We have a new Vet and new apartments on West Georgia Road and the corner of Fork Shoals and West Georgia Road is being sold for a new grocery store. Wow, there is a lot going on. Where we live will not be developed further because the rest of the land is in an animal wild life reserve set aside by the Sloan family. So we are living in a neat small development that has nine homes and one lot that is to be built on sometime in the next year. Okay enough of that business. WE are well and have a busy day lined up. The fur gang is well, back from their walk and I am about to head for the shower. II wish everyone a blessed day. Be sure to give the fur babies a hug for me and be sure to tell someone you love them.

RE: A very old stray {The Old Fella Story}

Good morning everyone. Dan we sure could use some of your rain. This morning's forecast says we might get some today and there is a slight chance everyday the rest of the week. It hasn't been too hot lately, there seems to be a cooling off period. The nights have really been cool as we have seen some nights in the upper 50's. The fur babies are well this morning. Suzie wakes up ready to get outside and take a turn around the yard to see what has been happening while we slept. Dixie is the same way. She is ready to get out of her crate and hit the yard and then get back inside to eat breakfast. Lizzie is banging on the bedroom door wanting to be let out so she can make her rounds in the house. I don't know how such a small cat can make so much noise banging on the door. I guess she throws herself against the door. There is a shoe rack hanging on the door so I guess she uses that to bang on the door. June is half gone and soon it will be July. I don't care for the fireworks on the forth because of the fur babies. It doesn't bother Suzie and Dixie as much as it did Mama, Peaches and Hobo. Our neighbor on the other side of the pond always has a big party with lots of fireworks so I guess we will get to see his show again this year. Of course there will be dogs that will be afraid and run away from home because folks won't bring them inside during the fire works display. Okay I need to get moving so I will close for now wishing everyone a blessed day. Be sure to give the fur babies a hug for me and be sure to tell someone you love them.

RE: A very old stray {The Old Fella Story}

Good morning everyone and a happy Father's Day to all the fathers. I heard from two of the kids yesterday so I guess I will hear from the others some time today. Allison is very concerned about our trip to Michigan. She offered Jeff's assistance in getting us to Michigan and then flying back home. Ava hasn't said anything one way or the other about us going. The fur gang is well and ready to get out for a walk. Sue is running a little behind this morning, not like her at all. Me, well I could go back to bed and sleep another hour or two. I hope everyone has a great day and you enjoy family. I need to get moving so I will close for now wishing everyone a blessed day. Be sure to give the fur babies a hug for me and be sure to tell someone you love them.

RE: A very old stray {The Old Fella Story}

Good morning everyone. Walter have a safe trip and enjoy yourself. Yes Dan I bet Brady could tell a tall story about where he has been. Heidi said he was dirty but other than that he seemed to be okay. Heidi said some one was working in the back yard and left the gate open when Brady made his escape. I guess he is the adventurous type and saw his opportunity to explore the world and see if it was what everyone said it was. It is fortunate that he wasn't picked up and carried to the animal shelter where he would have ended up God knows where. It was 56 degrees this morning when we got up, another cool start to another day. According to the weather person we can expect rain every day next week. This morning I remembered I hadn't drained the hot water heater since our last outing. That was April 20th, so I better do that so the water won't smell like rotten eggs. It may be too late even now, but I will see later this morning. I get excited about our trip next month and then I think, Is this something I can really do? I have so much going on with my health that I wonder if a long trip to Michigan is wise. The biggest thing is my vision, the other is just small stuff that comes with being 78 years old. It's a month away so I have time to see how things are going to be. Sue is out with Dixie and Suzie for their morning walk. Lizzie the cat is perched on the back of the couch looking out the window watching for their return. Me, well I'm getting ready to face the day. Okay it's time for me to head to the shower so I will close for now wishing everyone a blessed day. Be sure to give the fur babies a hug for me and be sure to tell someone you love them.

After nine days Brady came home today. Didn't realize he had been gone that long. Brady is one of our neighbor's dog. He went missing when the back yard gate was left open.I am glad he found his way home.

Good morning everyone. It is 55 degrees here in the Deep South this morning, crazy weather. Sue is about to walk out the door with Dixie and Suzie for their morning walk. Lzzie is perched on the back of the couch so she can watch out the window. When we moved here nine years ago our street was lined with some beautiful Cedar trees. They were especially pretty when it snowed. Yesterday the last one was cur down as new neighbors have seen fit to remove them. I haven't heard the Quail calling late in the evening in a long time now as all of their cover has been removed to build houses. The Coyotes have moved in as reports come from all over the area of their sightings and hearing their howls. We still have deer coming out at night grazing in our back yard and we see them in the large field up at the corner where East Sloan and Talley Scott intersect. Things are changing sometimes not for the better. We have a neighborhood blog and every day there is posting of missing dogs and cats. It seems folks just can't keep their animals at home for one reason or another. The latest one is a small dog that escaped from a fenced in yard. It seems they were keeping the dog for friends while they were on vacation and it found a hole in the fence and got out. Our neighbor's dog Brady is still among the missing. I hope they find him as he is an older dog that needs care. The count down is going on. We plan to leave for Michigan next month. I don't know how well the trip will go but I am hoping for the best. My sight is in question especially when it rains and at night. The Old Fella Burke County Animal Rescue is having a yard sale raising money for the cause. They are doing a great job and I appreciate all that they do. Okay I need to get moving so I will close for now wishing everyone a blessed day, Be sure to give the fur babies a hug for me and be sure to tell someone you love them.

RE: A very old stray {The Old Fella Story}

Good morning everyone. Yesterday was a cool day for June. This morning it is cool at 63 degrees but it is supposed to warm up today. I didn't feel well yesterday but this morning I am feeling better. Sue has gone out with the girls for their morning walk. I don't see Lizzie. I think she is chasing something as I hear the patter of little feet on the floor. Old Fella Rescue is doing well as they continue to save the lost souls of Burke County. I haven' heard a word about what the county is doing as far as building a shelter and hiring a manager to oversee the project. All I can do is hope and pray that some day it will all work out. I hope everyone is enjoying the summer. Any one have any summer plans they would like to share? Sue and I are going to Michigan and then down to Ohio to visit Dan and Lori. Then we will go to Wytheville, Virginia for a few days before coming home. Then we are planning to going to Sevierville, Tennessee in October. Okay I need to get moving so I will close for now wishing everyone a blessed day. Be sure to give the fur babies a hug for me and be sure to tell someone you love them.

Wonder if the vibration could be the U joint? Don't feel the vibration coming up through the floorboard or car seat. It's coming from somewhere in the frontend, maybe the damper pulley or a broken motor mount.

RE: A very old stray {The Old Fella Story}

Good morning everyone. It's a beautiful day with lots of sunshine. The temperature is 69 degrees right now. Tomorrow morning we are supposed to be in the upper 50's with a high of 61 degrees. This is June in the Deep South, my gosh what a swing in temperatures. This weather is crazy. Sue is out with Dixie and Suzie while Lizzie the cat is on the back of the couch watching out the window. She will stay there until Sue gets back with the girls. I guess she wonders why she doesn't get to go. Anyway she will have a talk with Sue when she gets back. Yesterday the guys that work on the 72 Lincoln came and picked it up to take it back to their shop to work on it. I was afraid to drive it because of the vibration. I can't figure out what is going on with it so they brought an enclosed trailer to put it in to take it to their shop. It's amazing the work these guys do. They are not cheap, but they know what they are doing. They don't work on every day driving cars, only the exotic and antique cars. I have seen some beautiful old cars there. Recently they had an old Chrysler Woody convertible, you know the old Chrysler that had wood on the sides. Okay Sue is back with the girls and Lizzie is satisfied they are back. I need to get moving so I will close for now wishing everyone a blessed day. Be sure to give the fur babies a hug for me and be sure to tell someone you love them.

One of our neighbors Lab ran away when the gate to their back yard was left open. Brady is ten years old, guess it was his first taste of freedom. He has been gone a week now with no sign of him any where.

Good morning everyone. Being on the lazy side this morning. Didn't get up until well after seven this morning, Now t is almost nine and I still haven't showed and dressed. Sue is out with the girls for their morning walk. It was still raining when we got up but for now it has stopped. It is very overcast and looks as if it will continue to rain. Our high temperature Wednesday will be 68 degrees. How that that for a high in June? The low for Wednesday night will be 59 degrees, bring out the covers that have been put away for the summer. Okay I need to get moving so I will close for now wishing everyone a blessed day. Be sure to give the fur babies a hug for me and be sure to tell someone you love them. Just got a phone call and the guy that works on my 72 Lincoln is coming to pick it up and trailer it back to his shop. I have been afraid to drive it because of a vibration in it, couldn't figure out what is wrong with it so I am going to let the professional handle it.

RE: A very old stray {The Old Fella Story}

Good morning everyone. It's still raining and cool this morning. The rain is supposed to stay with us through out the day. That's okay because we really needed it. The lawn is beginning to turn green and the yard plants look much better. A lady in our social blog posted a picture of a cat saying it had taken up at their house and she needed to find it's owner. I asked about her giving it a home as the cat had chosen them, but she said her child was allergic to cats. She will see if the cat has a chip on Monday. I asked her to post pictures in the neighborhood and local stores to see if someone would claim it. The fur gang is well this morning. With the rain Sue won't be taking them for a walk this morning. Well prove me wrong, Sue just left with Dixie and Suzie, says it isn't raining that much. I hope all is well with everyone and I wish you a blessed day. Be sure to give the fur babies a hug for me and be sure to tell someone you love them.

RE: A very old stray {The Old Fella Story}

Good morning everyone. It rained all day yesterday, very hard at times. Today we can expect 3-4 inches of rain according to the weather forecast. I am having a difficult time this morning. I just can't get going for some reason. This morning I discovered for the past few days I have been taking the wrong medication. The bottles are alike and the pills are close in appearance, so I was taking an antibiotic instead of the pills for my prostate. So I put the antibiotic in a place I won't mistakenly do that again. My eye sight isn't getting any better either. Things off in a distance are blurred more in bright light. Sun glasses seem to help so I guess I will be wearing them more often. The fur gang is well this morning. Our new neighbors cats are liking our house and yard more lately. Last night two of them were hanging around our back yard. They are friendly and want attention, but Dixie and Suzie want to chase them. It has started raining again so I guess Sue won't be walking with the girls this morning. Okay I need to get moving so I will close for now wishing everyone a blessed day. Be sure to give the fur babies a hug for me and be sure to tell someone you love them.

Good morning everyone and happy anniversary to Pickles. It's raining this morning and it's 68 degrees. We need the rain as it was very dry. The weather man says it is going to rain for the next three days so maybe the lawns and flowing plants will get some relief. The fur gang is well. They went out this morning in the rain and didn't tarry long before coming back in. Lizzie is being playful this morning, into everything she can get into. Sue is well, up and working already. We have a Hummingbird sitting on top of the feeder as if something is wrong with him. Sue says he has just flown away. maybe he didn't want to get wet and found a dry spot to rest in for a while. Okay I hope everyone is well and I wish you a blessed day. Be sure to give the fur babies a hug fro me and be sure to tell someone you love them.

Good morning everyone. We got some rain last night, but not enough. Today looks as if we will get more and tomorrow we are expected to get three inches. It's 70* right now, very pleasant outside. Sue just left with Suzie and Dixie going for their morning walk. As usual Lizzie is sitting in the window sill watching Sue and the girls walk down the road. She will watch until they get back and then she will talk with Sue wanting to know where have you been? June 6th 1944 was the day Troops stormed Normandy Beach. Today we celebrate that day as this marked the beginning of the end of WWII. Lets us remember those who gave their lives for freedom and an end of Hitler's Germany. We have so much to be thankful for and I praise God for those who serve our Country in the military. Let us pray that all of our service men and women come home safe. Okay I need to get moving so I will close for now wishing everyone a blessed day. Be sure to give the fur babies a hug for me and be sure to tell someone you love them.

Good morning everyone. We are still dry, but there is hope of rain today through Monday. It's not been as hot lately with temps in the 80's. Yesterday started out in the 60's and stayed that way up into mid morning. Dr. Doug When we would travel through Indiana and see the corn fields, it's amazing to look out over the miles and miles of corn, just as far as the eye can see. Hopefully the weather will break and the farmers can plant their drops this year. Sue is out with Suzie and Dixie for their morning walk. It's nice outside right now with the temperature at 71 degrees. Our trip to Michigan has hit a snag, so we will have to work out some other dates in July. I got a pneumonia shot yesterday and my arm is sore this morning. Other than that I am well. Sue is doing great, so much energy and so full of life. Okay I am going to close for now wishing everyone a blessed day. Be sure to give the fur babies a hug for me and be sure to tell someone you love them.

RE: A very old stray {The Old Fella Story}

Good morning everyone. It's cloudy and 67 degrees this morning. There is some hope of rain today but the better chance is Thursday and Friday. Last night when I let Dixie and Suzie out for their last chance to take care of business before going to bed, the black kitty was in the back yard and got chased. For some reason it wants to stay in our back yard or close to our house. It belongs to our new neighbor and is confused on where it belongs. Our well is running out of water:(. We have had a problem ever since we have been here. I called the well man yesterday to come out and see what we need to do. most likely we need to bore a new well. Sue is walking out the door with Dixie and Suzie, going for their morning walk. Lizzie is sitting in the window sill watching them. She really wants to go with them, She loves Sue so much. She is definitely Sue's cat. I hope all is well with everyone and I wish you a blessed day. Be sure to give the fur babies a hug for me and be sure to tell someone you love them.
