Trailersavor vs Anderson Ultimate

Buyinh first 5th wheel. Weight is around 14,500 with a pin weight of 2,900. Trying to decide between the trailersavor and the Anderson Ultimate. I realize they are completely different style of hitches. I like the trailersavor with the airbags and how sturdy it is (plus I have the hensley arrow so I know the company. The Anderson looks appealing due to the ease of getting in and out, plus it seems to be easier to hook up. Does anyone have any thoughts or suggestions?

RE: Best Hitch

Any one have any experience with the Anderson gooseneck ultimate fifth wheel hitch? I saw a couple of articles that claim there was some failures.

Best Hitch

So I am looking at getting into a fifth wheel coming from a tow behind. On my trailer I have a Hensley and love it. I see that the also have the Trailersaver. Trying to find a good hitch that is easy to use and safe. Anyone use these? Any thoughts? Also looking it seems that a lot of people like the B&W 20K Companion. Any responses would be appreciated.

RE: New to fifth wheels - help with trailer weight

Is there a safe way to increase the payload capacity of the truck, like adding bigger springs or anything?

Storing trailer out of state a campground storage

We are from Michigan and we travel to Myrtle Beach quite often. We typically stay at one of the mega campgrounds on the ocean. These campgrounds offer trailer storage on their lots and will put your trailer in place at the site when you come down. We were thinking of doing this as we could make the trip a lot faster without the trailer. Has any one done this? Any issues that came up? Also is there anything special that would need to be done to the trailer storing it in this environment to help protect it long term? Thank you for any help or advise.

RE: New to fifth wheels - help with trailer weight

My truck has RGAWR of 6600, GCWR of 27,500 and a curb weight of 8,302. Per the trailer specs it has a hitch weight of 3,175 and a dry weight of 12,650. I have not yet bought the trailer so I cannot take it to a scale yet. Trying to figure out if this will be too much hitch weight for the truck. I assume that since it is a toy hauler, if loaded in the back the hitch weight would go down a bit. However, we probably would not always have the back fully loaded.

New to fifth wheels - help with trailer weight

I have had a tow behind for many years, but now am looking at fifth wheels. Want to make sure what my truck can handle. I have a 2020 GMC AT4 2500 HD Diesel that has a payload max of 3048 and trailer rating of 19,198. Starting looking a toy haulers, one in particular. It’s weight is 12,650 which should not be a problem, however the hitch weight is 3,175. Am I correct that the hitch weight on a fifth wheel acts the same as the hitch weight as a tow behind, meaning that I will be over payload. I would assume that since this is a toy hauler, when hauling a golf cart or other type of vehicle this would help balance out the hitch weight, but would it be too much if I am not hauling a vehicle?

RE: Dometic Air Brisk 2 13.5 starting issues

The a/c has worked normal all day today, however just now I checked the thermostat, it is set to run at 72, but it is showing the temperature of the trailer is 78. I shut the thermostat off for about 20 seconds and then turned it back to air. The a/c started right up.

Dometic Air Brisk 2 13.5 starting issues

I have a Dometic Brisk II 13.5 air conditioner that is about a year and a half old. It runs great, however fairly regularly after it reaches the set temp on the thermostat it shuts down as normal, however it does not start up again as the temp in the trailer rises. If I shut the thermostat off for 10-15 seconds than reset it to the a/c it will start up and run fine. I have replaced the thermostat, but it does the same thing. Does anyone have any ideas?
