RE: Vancouver, WA to Cape May, NJ (November 1st)

We have traveled from the Oregon coast to MA the last two weeks of Oct.a few times. We never got caught in weather but we did have to "out-run" it. It's a very ify time along 80.

RE: Snow

We are there now. Even on the Dunraven Pass road there was no snow. The peaks in the distance had plenty but that's gone this afternoon.

RE: Pennsylvania Turnpike

Get an EZ-Pass from any state you choose. It just make life in the North-East easier. I cross PA a lot and always use I/80 it's not a bad road and there are no tolls.

RE: Winnebago and the Workhorse

We had a 2005 Suncruiser with the W-22 chassis and put on a great 63,000 trouble free miles until we traded it in for another Winnebago (Journey).

RE: Southern destination w kids week of New years? Where to go?

I can't believe no one said Ft. Wilderness at Disney World. It might be a little crowded, no, overwhelmingly packed, but that's because it's the place to be!

RE: RV Toilet

We have been doing this for a long time and stopped having problems the first season when we learned .... MORE WATER.... If you think you are using too much use more. The other rules apply like poop, pee, toilet paper and water, nothing else! Newer RVs have sensors outside the tank and do not get covered with stuff like the older prob that stick into the tank. Use more water!!!!

RE: Tioga Pass - This little baby can...

Beartooth Hwy (Yellowstone NE Gate) might be a little more intense!

RE: Winnebago vs Tiffin

When we bought or '11 Journey 40L there was no difference between Winnie & Itasca. We thoroughly checked out both and also they cost the same dollar for dollar including options. Factory tours can tell you a lot about build quality. Winnebago has a "mile" long powered line with laser guides for locating hardware, while a horn blows at the Tiffin factory and someone drives the RV to the next stage.

RE: Winnebago vs Tiffin

We had 3 Winnebagos and all were great. For gas or entry diesel I would also consider Newmar. If you are going higher up Newmar or Entegra. Tiffin would not be on my list (been to their factory)

RE: Fleetwood ratings

For their chassis they might all be using Freightliner but Winnebago uses their Maxxium which has lowered (as opposed to raised) rails which gives you much more storage and a lower center of gravity. Newmar uses a hung wall with far better insulation the all the others. We have had 3 Winnebago and loved them all and would not hesitate to buy a Newmar.

RE: To DP or not DP

It's really how you are going to use it. If you are doing long trips, you just can't beat a DP. They are smoother, quieter, handle better and it goes on! They cost a lot more and the maintenance is a lot more too. We had two gassers and are on our second DP but we cross this great country every year, then snowbird for three months +. So it's worth it to us.

Did you look it up on Campground reviews?

RE: Columbus Day Weekend, Cape Cod

Arnold's will be closed but Sir Cricket's in Orleans (next to Bird Watchers) is open all year and in my opinion is better than Arnold's. September and October are the Cape's two best months and besides being open all the beaches are FREE!

RE: Michigan to Yellowstone and back

What enblethen said is the easiest way to Yellowstone and Grizzy is the nicest campground around. We have used all the entrances and the only one that would be scary is the North East (Cooke City) Going via Cody (East Entrance) isn't bad but you go up to about 8,400 ft. Cody is worth a couple of days. The 8,400 isn't so bad when you consider the average elevation in Yellowstone is 7,500 ft.

RE: North Carolina to Connecticut

I/77 to I/81 to I/84 right into Hartford You still didn't say where in NC you're starting from. The only toll on this route is the Newburgh-Beacon (NY) bridge. It's about $10 for us.

RE: Easter Sierras Advice Needed--RV Parks and Sites to See

I like Mono Vista in Lee Vinning. Mono Lake is unusual and you can enter Yosemite via Tioga Pass(Rt 120) a very nice ride in your truck. It would be a chore towwing.

RE: baltimore to cape cod

This might sound difficult but it's not. You should know the easiest way to get on I/78 near Allentown. Take I/78 to PA 33 to I/80 to US 209 to I/84 (at the PA-NY border) to I/90 (Mass Pike toll) to I/495 to Cape Cod. The Newburgh-Beacon bridge is about $10 for us 5 axles and the toll on I/90 is about $3; that's it for tolls. If you take I/287 over the Tappen Zee bridge the toll will be at least $ 20. Also make sure you have an EZ-Pass. If you arrive between 9 AM and 9 PM at the Cape bridges be prepared for a long wait.

RE: Historic Triangle Virginia

We have stayed at American Heritage Campground in Williamsburg. It make a good base for all three. If you like History you will love all three!!!

RE: Boston

We have had to go into Boston regularly and it is a pain. There is nothing orderly on how the streets are arraigned. It's not like driving in NY. We've been going to the same place but I would try to get there tomorrow without the GPS. Take the train!!!!

RE: New Tires, should the lug nuts have a re-tighening check?

Loves changed a tire on the road for us and wouldn't sign off on the warranty unless we had the wheel re-torqued at the next Loves.
