I must be the exception here I like to take mine out of the way.Its always well greased and keeps the kids from cracking their shins.Makes it easier to load and unload the truck

RE: Removing pine pitch

Watch using solvent type cleaners they can damage paint, decals and vinyl awnings I would try baby oil on a rag and my thumbnail just do the dots and wash with dish detergent as you go. I would plan on having some help. The suns warmth will help

RE: BEWARE Keystone Hideout

Its a **** shame they don't care about quality or craftsmenship. They are willing to finance a new travel trailer for 15 years. You pay a premium price for a new unit and its thrown together.

RE: Trunnion Lube?

you can use oil if you like I prefer a dab of wheel bearing grease on the mateing surfaces as well as the ball. most any brand will do. clean them up with mineral spirits and a rag now and then then re lube

12 volt frige

Just got our new highland ridge bunkhouse camper!! Got to learn everything about it now. It has a 12 volt frige and I never had one before. If I am correct it is 12 all the time even when plugged into shore power. anyone else have one? Do you like it?

RE: Kind of a dumb question, but I'm new

surprised no one mentioned ebay for a source. I get the best deals there. I think because you have many sellers selling the same part they have to compete with each other.BTW I like my reese weight distrinution hitch with cam anti sway. Not cheap but works good.check it out

RE: Deep metal "groaning sound" from hitch. Is this normal?

I would lube the ball and the spring bars up front, no lube in back where they rub.Defitatly will take away from the sway control.

New camper coming has nitrogen filled tires

Hello all . I never had a car or truck that had nitrogen filled tires. Now I understand my new highland ridge has them. Thats got to be a pain to maintain? I always check pressure before we take off. So what do I need to do go to the tire shop to check pressure? Can I buy a bottle at the welding supply shop?

RE: moving up to 50 amp from 30

Im thinking about running a permanent power supply to the camper from the garage about 50 ft away. I am having a carport put in so I can keep my new baby covered, and I can put underground wires from the breaker box in the garage to inside my carport.30 amp should be enough to do what I want to do.

moving up to 50 amp from 30

Hello all. Im trading in my 30 amp rig for a bigger rig with dual ac units and 50 amp.I used to run an extension cord from the garage and with the use of an adaptor, plug in for the frige and keep battery charged. My new unit does not use propane for the frige but runs off battery instead.I would like to run the extension cord like I used to to keep the battery charged. Is it ok to run 110 to the 50 amp power cord?

RE: trailer bearings leak - castle nut stuck (why?)

Im betting there is a lock type tank washer holding the nut still.wipe all the grease off the nut look on all sides of the nut you will have to bend it back out of the way. Use an old screwdriver and hammer to get it started .Once removed you can straighten it back out and re use it again

RE: reese hitch question

Great info on that link Barney S. I like the in depth look at the dual cam system. Ok so I,m closing in on what I think I need. My new camper has a dry hitch weight of 995 lbs and a gross of 9735. I have the reese hitch with 2 sets of spring bars both say 10k limit but one pair says 600 lbs on each and the other says 800 lbs on each .Is it 600 times 2? and 800 times 2?

RE: reese hitch question

Did the 800 lb bars hit the nut or the 1200 lb bars? The trunnions look to be the same (from pictures anyway) I ordered them with assurance from etrailer they will fit. Yes very good to be back again. Thanks for the help

RE: reese hitch question

I did my homework and found I can use heavier bars, and they are interchangeable. I also ordered the dual cam system as advised. I like the way its set up. Anyone here use the dual cam anti sway?

reese hitch question

Hello all I am back from a long absence. Feels good. Anyhow We are camping again. My rig has reese weight distribution with trunnions bearing the marks 22210.I had them from my last camper and I am moving up to something bigger soon. I was thinking rather than buy a whole hitch why not get heavier trunnion bars. Are they interchangeable? I would like to step up to 12,000 lbs gross
