RE: Texas winterizing...

We wintered twice in the Florida panhandle.
Both winters had a period of frost.
Every radio, TV station kept warning folks of the the 3 P's
PETS
PLANTS
PIPES
For a lot of people today if it's not Tweeted or on Facebook it doesn't exist.

RE: Unnecessary Warnings Shown on Products

Now that companies are shipping all over the world they include warnings in dozens of languages. A couple of times I got a small 12 page booklet bigger than the USB drive it's meant for.

RE: Fry's Electronics shutting down 30 stores in 9 states

When we wintered in Arizona I would hit the trifecta at least once a month.
Fry's, Cabela, Harbor Freight.
Great way to spend a day.

RE: New Border Regulations

When you break it all down to bare facts nobody knows what the outcome will be especially politicians.
They're pulled to the left to the right then back again. Surrounded by everybody shouting me, me, me.
All they can really ask of us is to suck it up and take one for the team.
Wear a mask, wash your hand, don't touch your face, keep your distance.

RE: Mad Dash for Drinking Water

I would think that bringing a bucket of snow in would cool the air as it melts.
It's the opposite.
The first thing we do when visiting the cottage in mid winter is to get a pot of water boiling to bring up the humidity. Moist air warms up faster and retains the heat better.
Basically it just feels warmer. The downside is steamed up windows.

RE: Mad Dash for Drinking Water

Did you know you can burn snow :)
If you don't pack the snow in the pot it will 'sublimate', go form a solid to gaz (steam) and never see water.

RE: Cordless blowers

If you have any battery powered tools get a blower that uses the same batteries.

Birding app (FREE)

I tried it out, its easy to use and somewhat useful for identifying birds. If you have a clear picture of the bird it will search and identify it.

Side note:
Gorilla tape only sticks to itself, even then it's not for long.
Get some good quality Gaffer's tape.

If you're driving through big cities aim for a campground past the city and avoid morning rush hour.

RE: Do you sanitize your black tank?

What I use to do after that last dumping before driving home, give it a 5 gal pail full of water and a cup of laundry soap. Let it slosh around all the way home and dump it on our next outing.

RE: Signs of Cognitive Decline

As it was explained to me.
Always forgetting where you put your keys is a sign of old age, nothing to worry about.
When you forget what the keys are for is when you start to worry.

RE: AZ hwy 88

We did it once with the truck only. It was 20+ miles of potholes, huge potholes. The second time was a year later and we turn back after a mile or two. The truck could take it but not us, no fun at all.
Of course this was a few years ago, things change.

RE: Beware Gift Card Scam

UPDATE!
This is a very old post, surprised it popped up again.
The drug store 'Shoppers' was very help full and we eventually got it settled. It took a few emails and photo proof of the bogus card.
They gave us another 'gift card' LOL, this one for Shoppers.
No problems spending that one.
Happy Ending
