RE: Mosquitos

Watkins is the choice here . All the country stores up here keep a supply at the checkout counter.

RE: Lake Superior Circle (September 2020) Reservations?

At that time of years reservations should not be a problem. Some campgrounds start shutting down at the end of September.

RE: Interior insulation

Our trailer is well insulated up top except for the slide. I could feel the heat on my head. I laid a length of reflectix on the outside roof and noticed a temperature drop right away.

RE: Fireplace heater beeping

Try stuffing a cotton ball in it to muffle the sound.

RE: LAN security

One item I saw in the news... Remote control thermostats could be monitored by thieves and let them know when the house was empty. If your AC is set to come on at 4pm that means you’ll be home by 5pm.... etc. Whole neighbourhoods could be monitored.

RE: Hero or Irresponsible?

Wait for the book and movie deals. You all know that's in the works already. She truly suffered for 17 days and came out alive, that's a story that will sell.

RE: American flag

The only reason I come here anymore is for the entertainment value. You all wonder why people are leaving. This post is a good example.

RE: One thing I'm not crazy about with new cars

Same with my Mazda. I’ve learned to use the side mirror, not for looking behind me. I slowly move up until it lines up with the curb. Park you van perfectly then note how the mirror post lines up with the curb.

RE: Internet

So.... This really about poor Campground service. Nothing new there. Don't blame the system if everybody is streaming at once.

RE: New here, need help!

When you see this ***Link Removed*** in a post it’s a clue.

RE: Kayaker this morning with her dog

What camera do you use? Your pictures have great color and clarity. Just a FYI. It is considered an insult when you ask a photographer this question. It implies the camera did all the work in composing a great picture, like anybody could take that picture if they had that camera. Just a heads up. :)

RE: Google maps iPad mini vs. iPhone

You can also type something like this in the map search box: “Seattle, WA to Portland, OR” THANK YOU ! I didn’t know that I use google maps a lot and like it.

RE: Stand-alone GPS or smartphone?

I still use S&T. It's the first app I go to when planning a trip. Every place we've been to is marked with different coloured pins with attached notes. I can tack on links to web sites etc. I have 100's of POI notes on various saved maps. It's not my only map source but it's still the most useful one. I started way back with paper maps and AAA TripTic.

Guaranteed to be full cloud cover then. It always happens when something like this is predicted, sigh...

RE: Flannel

Beautiful weather here. The ice left our bay yesterday and I had my first wash and dip in the lake. Emphasis on ‘dip’ . Total body shock, good wake up.

RE: Kids these days!

I remember when the VCR became popular. Parents were chastised for using it as a babysitter. My buddy had about 6 hrs of Sesame Street on tape for the kids. He was blasted by his in-laws for abusing the kids. Kids turned out great, one engineer, one teacher and a fireman.

RE: Where's the fly?

When I wore my first and only pair of cargo pants my dad noted there was no fly. He asked how I go to the toilet? I sit like a girl says I. He looked at me like I had betrayed God and country.

RE: AA battery life

Don't forget 'shelf life'. The old batteries died of old age real quick compared to Alkaline of Lithium
