RE: 25ft Toy Hauler Suggestions

I don't think you're going to find any toy hauler trailer in the 25 ft. range with a slide. The slide, when retracted will eat into the cargo area and for those of that haul larger toys, that is a lot of cargo space to give up. The Stryker in my sig is the smallest of the line and even it pushes 27 ft. tip to toe. Good luck in your search.

RE: 20 year loan for RV?

However, just because you get a twenty year loan, doesn’t mean you have to take twenty years to pay for it. You can make double or triple payments, but if you run into a financial difficulty for a while, you can make only the required payment, or no payment at all for a while. We are doing exactly this. Pay more when we can, pay minimum if we can't. Our plan is to have our TT paid off in 5 years or less. Also, in some cases you can get a better interest rate with a longer loan. Maybe not the best way for all but it definitely works for us.

RE: texas rv parks

Canyon Lake area north of San Antonio. On the edge of Hill Country with SA about an hour south (Riverwalk, Sea World, Six Flags), Austin an hour to the north (State Capital) and Texas wine country to the northwest. Lots of different RV Parks in this area as well.

RE: 2005 alfa see ya 5th wheel

If the display does not even come on, check for a blown fuse.

RE: Fifth Wheel to TT?

I actually never owned a TT until now, only FWs. Just sold our third to downsize to the TT in my sig. Main reasons, kids out of the house and we don't do the type of desert camping we used to anymore. Relocating to another state probably didn't help either. We enjoy the TT and don't regret our decision at all. We stuck with a TH so that we can still take the toys out if we want to and as others have mentioned, it's nice having the bed of the truck back.

RE: Registration Rant

I feel for you Anutami. We bailed on CA a couple years ago. Used to live in Escondido, not too far from you. The truck in my sig would cost me upwards of $500 for registration. Here in Texas, same truck $78.75 + $7 annual inspection, no smog.

RE: cruiser MPG 2550RB

Can't speak for the MPG line specifically but we've had no issues with our Cruiser Stryker so far. There is a fairly active Cruiser RV Owners group on Facebook. You may want to join and post your question there. Good luck in your search.

RE: Low clearance - cut this off?

Easiest way is to flip the bar over so the extra is on top. No issue being in the way of the tailgate, not in my setup anyway.

RE: 5th wheel tires

What size tires are currently on the rig, how many miles a year do you plan to put on them, what are the axles rated at? By 11,700 wet, is that the gross weight of the trailer? Before downgrading, my prior FW TH was 18k gross but because we were only weekend warriors traveling short distances, I could not justify going to a G rated or LT tire. Went with Maxxis at the time. No problems what-so-ever. Currently looking at GY Endurance for my smaller, lighter TT. Just my opinion.

RE: Trailer Tire Speeding Rating??

Unless the dealer did it before selling it to you, you will also not know the last time the bearings and brakes were serviced per Dexter rules on that. IMO if so, be worth getting that done so you know where you are at for timing that maintenance schedule from now on. Thanks for the additional tip BFL13, I will definitely keep that in mind. Frank

RE: Trailer Tire Speeding Rating??

I don't know what is making the OP so nervous about his STs that apparently have huge margin for weight carrying plus they can do the speed he wants. However, from above posts it seems there are LTs with higher than 2680 available he could choose to get more margin using LTs. BFL13 - having recently purchased this trailer from a local dealer, I don't know the history of the use (or abuse) on the tires. The rig itself is in great condition so for peace of mind, I plan to replace the tires. My original question was based on what I now know is old information. Now that y'all have schooled me, I plan to go with something comparable to what's on the rig now. GY Endurance as others have suggested are available locally so I may just go with those. BTW - I just downsized to this rig from a 40 ft, 18k gross FW toy hauler so part of the tire fear probably comes from that to. Again, I appreciate everyone's response to my question. Frank

RE: Trailer Tire Speeding Rating??

Thanks for everyone's response. Very much appreciated. I can now say I learned something new today. I also feel better knowing I can do what I wanted to accomplish without having to upgrade the rims on my TT at the same time. Time to go tire shopping. Happy camping all. Thanks again.

RE: Trailer Tire Speeding Rating??

Can't you get new rims that would match the higher rated tires? That would be worse case scenario but yes, I could always get new rims. Just don't want to spend the money if I don't have too.

Trailer Tire Speeding Rating??

Recently purchased the new-to-us TT in my sig. For piece of mind, I plan to replace the tires in the very near future. Current tires are Rainier ST235/80R16 Load Range E. Since this is not a large trailer, I'm not overly concerned about overloading. My question is about speed rating. I've searched and read a few posts here but to be honest, the info went over my head. Most ST tires are limited to 65 mph at 80 psi. Would I get anything more by going to an LT tire in the same size or assuming the rims can handle the extra pressure, moving up to a LR F or G tire? It's not my goal to fly down the road doing 80 but know 70 or so is safely doable in parts of the country where higher speeds are allowed. Trailer gross is 11,200, axles rated at 5200. My rims are the only unknown at this point. Thanks in advance.

Heartland Fuel vs. Cruiser Stryker

It is my understanding that Heartland RVs acquired Cruiser a few years ago. The wife and I are considering a smaller rig and in our search, we came across these two lines. Except for paint scheme, these units are identical. Since one is owned by the other, anyone know if they are actually built on the same assembly line? I know the Fuel is built specifically for Camping World but other than that, is there any difference? Frank

RE: 2012 6.7 Diesel

On average, for that year you would expect to see somewhere between 100k to 120k miles depending on how the truck was used. Double or triple that, I might look twice. As mentioned, earlier version of this truck had fuel pump problems. I add Cetane Boost to the truck in my sig with every fill up and have not had any issues. I have not heard of the radiator, bearing or glow plug problems mentioned earlier so I can't speak to that. If you're serious about this truck, I would definitely look at the service history and make sure there haven't been any problems in the areas of concern.

RE: KM Reosrts

Next time they call, just tell them you no longer have your RV and do not have plans to replace it any time soon. They'll stop calling.

RE: Need Toy Hauler with 15' garage or more, What to look for?

Heartland has a Cyclone with 15 ft. garage style and also a 20 ft. open style. Size may not matter, the question is can your wallet handle the price:).
