He is going east on US 50, which is okay as others have pointed out. I have run that route both ways with doubles. Right. He asked in another post about 114 out of Gunnison. Thought he may be headed south after Montrose. That's a tough road.

Where are you going from Montrose? North toward Grand Junction is a 4 lane EZ pull, but south to Durango is entirely different.

Yes. Just drove it today. Alamosa to Gunnison. One pass(Cochetopa Pass) that is much easier than Monarch Pass, and a few miles of slow going toward the Gunnison end (Cochetopa Canyon). Also, not much traffic. Mostly big RVs that don't want to cross Monarch.

Saving the planet by recycling and boycotting plastic packaging, but traveling around in or towing an RV while getting 7 mpg :S That is awful. I get 11 mpg.:B
