RE: Upgrade V-10 to Turbo?

RE: Upgrade V-10 to Turbo?

I was considering the Banks system. I see the 5 star tuner is illegal in the People's Republic of California. Just as a matter of discussion, if the 5 star tuner is installed, could it be removed for the smog testing and would it not permanently cause a smog test failure or would it revert to factory tune?

RE: Solar panels. Looking to buy several.

I use a rule of thumb that panels should cost no more than $1.00 PER WATT. HF panels don't qualify INHO.

RE: Bigger stabilizer bar improvement in handling?

Thank you, but actually we are toying with the idea of trading up to a Class A so we have questions. Handling of our class C is quite good, but we hear that Class A, not so good.

Bigger stabilizer bar improvement in handling?

Has anyone gone for a thicker stabilizer bar on their Class A and did it improve the handling?

Upgrade V-10 to Turbo?

Have you upgraded your V-10 with a turbo? If so, 1. What was the cost of the system? 2. what was the installation charge? 3. How much time did the work take? and then... How was your gas mileage affected? Better, no change, worse?

RE: Are RV shows worth it?

Went to the big show at Fontana Racetrack. Big, Big discounts. MSRP of $140K down by as much as $50K. Caveat: You have to take the display unit, I believe.

RE: diesel class c

I do my own oil changes with oil and filter from Amazon, so its not too expensive. M-B has a whole page of specifications, including engine oil.

RE: Changes in Air Temp and Tire PSI

I agree with the previous posts. Just wanted to mention that wear on the tire will indicate if your pressure and your driving is causing uneven wear you should re-asses. If your pressure is low, the wear will be close to the sidewall. If your pressure is too high, the middle of the tire will wear more.

RE: Changes in Air Temp and Tire PSI

As a rule of thumb, air pressure in tires incraase about one psi for a temperature increase of 10 degrees F. Tire pressure should be set when cold. That is such as first thing in the morning or when the tires have not been running for at least 3 hours. The settings specified assume an ambient temperature of about 72 deg F. If the air temp you have is different, you can make a calculation such as: if ambient temperature is 52 deg F, reduce your pressure by 2 psi.

RE: Anyone purchase the new in line 6 Chevy Diesel?

Are you saying that GMC is producing a Stovebolt Diesel for an RV?

RE: diesel class c

My View has the propane fired generator. What i like about it is that the oil stays very clean relative to the gasoline or diesel generators.

RE: diesel class c

We like our Winnebago View with the 3.0L Turbo Diesel Class C. However I'm flirting with getting a smaller class A bunkhouse.

RE: Cost of installation for antenna

This is an exchange I had with a Weingard rep. My first question was which antennae were capable of tracking while under way and which was the most sensitive to weak signals: ******* The RoadTrip has a smaller reflector than the the Trav'ler so if the signal is weaker, or has any partial line of sight issues it would be impacted greater than the Trav'ler. Thank you, Good morning, How does that compare with the Traveler for picking up weak signal and tracking? thanx, We manufacture one system for use while in-motion. The RoadTrip T4. ******** Their web site cites the Trav'ler as stationary and only two other items as autotracking: Road Trip T4 and Durastat D4.

Pursuit 33BH

Went to the big RV show at the AAA speedway. I liked the Pursuit 31BH, but they didn't have the 33BH for comparison. Seems like no dealer in the LA county has one either. Any opinions on the advantages/disadvantages of one over the other?

RE: No power at the RV outlet to the Toad on my Winnebago Navion

Recently had a similar problem. Some ot the pins at the MH connector were pushed back so they didn't make contact. I sparingly used some epoxy to fix the pins solidly in the insulator.

RE: Cost of installation for antenna

I do appreciate your input. Buying is some time away as of now. I assume the installation is about the same amount of work and cost. Is there any data available regarding sensitivity of either unit? I see no specs on the W website. As an Electronic Engineer, I pay attention to specs. Also you say the poweer up is several minutes (OK) any idea for the setup time on a dome unit? Minor issue. For instance if I saw a sensitivity spec of something like -120 dBm, I would jump on it like a duck on a June Bug.

RE: Cost of installation for antenna

Another reason that tempts me is that the folding types look vulnerable to wind and tree branches, wires, and other obstructions. They also look like time consuming to clean while the dome style looks like less of either problem.
