RE: What can I do to revive an old VHS recorder/player

Many times mine have been resustitated by replacing the drive belts which not only wear out, but just go bad from age. Alternatively, my local Costco has converted film to DVD for me. You might consider that.

A very Large Man

There were two brothers that were very close, but they competed against each other. They had flower shops on opposite ends of town. Trouble showed up when the monks at the local monastery decided they needed more income that was provided by the brandy they made, so then decided to use some of their land to grow flowers which they could then sell for less that those two brothers considering their low overhead. The brothers were in a panic and they first went to the Sherriff, who could not help. Then they went to the Mayor and the City Council, but no luck. Finally they went to the local Don. The Don send a very big man Hugh (NIck-named Huge) for a little visit and told the monks it would be a shame if anything happened to their buildings. It worked. Plan abandoned. The brothers were happy. The Storal of the Morey is: Hugh, and only Hugh, can prevent Florist Friars

RE: New Thor subsidiary to use European manufacturing methods

Lynnmor, you are correct, but ISO 9000 protocols demand strict, acccurate procedures not just for the manufacturing process itself, but every activity within the company that involved the products. Design reviews are part of it. One must design not only for function, but for service. This last part is what I see in military designs but sadly lacking in commercial designs.

RE: New Thor subsidiary to use European manufacturing methods

As an engineer involved in two transitions to ISO 9001 standard in manufacturing, I consider it a huge leap in the both quality and efficiency. If this company is really interested in these two benefits, I say, "go for it". It matters not what location, work force, or ethnicity is involved. Good solid procedures and inspections protocol make consistent quality products.

RE: 12 volt Cigarette/Round sockets at Dash Loss Power

In one of my vehicles its actually soldered to the back of the receptacle and is very tiny, easy to miss, impossible to see when installed in the dash.

RE: Best Route from Fresno to Camp Pendleton

The more scenic route, but also much slower, is to head toward Santa Maria, then take the 101 and PCH.

A visit from Huge

Two brothers in a small town had flower shops at locations far apart in the town. They competed against each other, always trying to one-up the other, in a friendly manner. But, the monks in the local monastery decided they needed additional income to survive. They had plenty of land, so they planned to raise flowers, which would sell for much less than the brothers would. The brothers went to the local sheriff, but he couldn't help. the also tried the Mayor and the City Council, to no avail. In desperation, they sought the help of the Local Don, who sent a large individual named Hugh, nickname: Huge. This worthy visited the monks and said it would be a shame if their buildings burned down. The monks abandoned their plan. The Storal of the Mory is: Hugh, and only Hugh, can prevent Florist Friars.

RE: Help finding fresh date Tires

I use Amerca's Tire. I insisted on fresh tires for my rig and they got them. Don't know if they are in your area. Also lately Consumer Reports gave them a good score.

Direct TV satellite

Newspaper this morning reported the Direct TV satellite may be failing. Possible move to "GRAVEYARD" location. However, they say they won't dump fuel. Problems with batteries. DISH uses the same satellite, so this might be problems all over the country if you depend upon this for your TV away from home.
