RE: Battery Charging

Interesting. My Wfco converter takes too long to charge on generator. I have 2group 24 12 v batteries. Short of replacing with a progressive dynamics converter, I’m looking for a fast way to charge on generator. Maybe solar is the answer.

Battery Charging

So I went on a 3 day trip and charged on the 3rd day by plugging the shore cord into the Honda 2000 and also putting a dumb automotive charger on the terminals. I used the 10 amp setting, and with the onboard converter got about 20 amps of charging current into the batteries according to the battery monitor. For some reason, the 50 amp (jump start) setting didn't work, the needle gauge started to jump all over the place. Switch back to 10 amp setting and things were great. Anybody know why the 50 amp setting wouldn't work to charge dual 12v batteries? Gman

RE: Sad state of our National Parks-II

We see our national parks being sold off to oil rigs in pristine lands, oil and mining being sold in our other parks, coal runoff being put back in our streams, air quality under attack and climate change being ignored. The parks are ours not any particular administration. Any monies gathered by making our enviroment worse should be dumped back into the parks it is the least the thieves of the public could do. A Duramax Diesel and a giant trailer, a full tank of diesel and a Honda gas generator....and you complain about “climate change.” Stop preaching and walk the walk. I guess you don't know that diesels are greener than everything but electric and there are no 2500 electrics...yet. My giant trailer weighs far less than most 5ers. The Honda genny uses far less fuel than other gennys. So enough on the soap box stuff. Yep I complain about a government ignoring climate change and my use of a few hundred gallons of diesel each year likely doesn't compare to you going to work. You can justify your hypocrisy any way you like. Fossil fuel is fossil fuel, and if you believe in man caused "climate change" then you should give yours up, not try and give yourself a pass and state that your use is less than someone else's when you can't possibly know. Why wait for the government to come along and make you give yours up? Leftists: Fossil Fuels equal Global Warming You: Giant trailer with diesel engine and gasoline electric power. I know you are offended, and you will probably come on here and say something stupid again like "my giant trailer weighs less than most 5ers" to convince yourself that you are somehow doing your part to fight "climate change," but deep down, you know your are a hypocrite.

3.5 Ecoboost Feels Like a V6

So I have a 2017 F150 with 3.5 Ecoboost and 3.55 gears. I rented a 6x10 dual axle dump trailer and loaded it with 2.5 yards of landscape rock. I'm thinking maybe 8000-9000lbs total. Engine did the job, but felt like a lawn mower. My previous 6.2 V8's easily outperform this motor. Now I know why this motor can't be placed in a Super Duty.Trailer also pushed the truck around and was tough on the brakes. Thankfully only went about 8 miles. This motor is great for anything 5000lbs or less, as long as you are fairly aerodynamic. My truck gets 7 mpg towing an ultralight Passport 153ML. Since I drive most miles empty, I like this truck and it is a good compromise. If I pulled over 5000lbs and used the truck only as a tow vehicle, I would pass. Gman

RE: Feds open 1.4 million acres to hunters and fishermen

I like clean air and water and the regulations that used to prohibit those who would plunder and pollute for their own greedy purposes from doing as they please. When the last tree is cut down and the last bit of drinkable water is poisoned and there's nowhere for your children and grandchildren to visit that hasn't been destroyed with industrialization you'll have nothing left to do but eat your petroleum and fossil fuel. Capitalism works best for everyone only when it's well regulated. Unregulated capitalism made the USA the greatest country the planet has ever seen. Don't mess with it, if you want your decendents to have the same opportunities to prosper. Don't worry about the environment too much, until you're ready to enforce it everywhere, because as you blow your brains out trying to save your little portion of the planet, the rest of the world is polluting and destroying their parts of it just as quickly. We share the oceans and the atmosphere with the rest of the world, and if they keep on ruining it, what chance do we have to fix it? Haha....."Capitalism works best...." Well, socialism, communism, leftism can't make it past the first 2 words. Fox is too left wing and corporate for me. Yes, corporate America needs to be regulated, same as big government.

RE: Just picked Her up! 2020 Outdoors RV 21RD

I love truck campers also, but came to the conclusion that unless you have the really small truck campers, it's just not worth the loading and unloading, and driving around with a behemoth loaded on your back. Gman

RE: TT stolen from Haylett RV in Coldwater MI

Those guys at Haylett RV are a bunch of crooks anyway, what goes around comes around. - Karma. So in your view, crime is an acceptable form of recourse against those in which you personally find to be dishonest? That being the case, if I bought a used chinese chainsaw from you for $1000 and later came to the recognition that this wasn't a good deal after all...it would then be fine if someone came over and stole your truck, boat, RV and burned your house down because...well...karma. That line of thought doesn't make much sense to me, but then again I don't believe in karma anyway. I think he is saying that he doesn't care. That's all.

RE: Charging with Dumb Charger

Good to know, I had a very nice Schumacher "Smart" charger, that I found cooking my batteries. Gman

Charging with Dumb Charger

I recently went on a 3 day dry camping trip. When my batteries got down to about 66% I plugged the shore cord into my Honda2000 for a few hours of charging. With the WFCO converter/charger, I noticed that after a short time, it was charging at about 3 amps. Needless to say, it will take forever to charge this way. I don't really want to buy a new Progressive Dynamics right now, maybe later. How about plugging a standard automotive charger with a 2/10/25 amp charge settings direct to batteries on 10 amp charge for about 3 hours? Will this work better? Gman

RE: Guys with generators ....

I am tempted to make an untoward comment and get this thread closed. How many anti generator threads will there be, it's time to get over it. My RVing style is automated and it takes electricty for automation to function, at least you can lay on the ground to sleep and maybe you have not been effected by a physical malady that requires you have a bathroom you can reach in seconds, maybe you don't have to have hearing aids to not hear silence. You have legs and voices, walk over to those who are offending you and trampling your rights and talk to them face to face, don't be a coward and do it here. Great, now please do everyone around you a favor and buy a quieter generator. Gman Thanks for the suggestion, seeing as how you feel it should be quieter, please tell me which one is quieter. Oh! that means you would need to know which of my generators I am referring to. Which one of mine is too noisy for you? Oh yes, now I know, All of them. You obviously have a loud open frame generator considering you took the time to come to this thread and defend them.
