RE: Current crop of SUV'S

Ill stick with our Honda Odyssey. So much easier to get in and out of, huge amount of cargo room, smooth and lots of power. Don't need to tow with it as we have a dually for that. Cheaper to insure as well and reliable. My wife drives a 2015 Dodge Durango and loves it. It has the V6 and rear wheel drive, which is the main we was on we purchased it. Her only complaint is not enough room inside compared to my Odyssey.

RE: Hey Smokers! (meat, that is)

We use a Traeger Tailgater. It goes in the bed of the truck.

RE: Fresh water tank collapse-week supports.

Been there, done that and have the new water tank, modified bracing and Coroplast to show for it. Lost ours on our 2015 FR Sierra 360PDEK while pulling onto the road from our driveway, another half mile and we'd been on the highway. Ours sounded like a big boom when it let go, full of water. A big pain in the ass to remove while sitting in the road full of water. FR stepped up and made all repairs long with additional bracing.

RE: Eternabond vs Dicor

I put Eternabond on all roof seams four years ago and have not had to touch it since. Leave the Dicor in place and thoroughly clean the area with acetone prior to using the Eternabond

RE: You might be an RV if?

You might be an RV'r if you own a big arse dually and only put 5000 miles a year on it.

RE: Frame and tie down damage from unmarked speedbump.

Let your insurance company handle it. If they feel there is a responsible chance they will get reimbursed by the city they will go after them for the amount of repairs they paid for your vehicle.

RE: Replacement steps

Checkout the Torklift Glowsteps. They fold up into the original step location and are as solid as the Step Above without blocking your door and getting dirt dumped into the RV.

RE: First time Eternabond user observations

I Eternabond taped all seams on our roof several years ago and still holding strong.

RE: Batteries drained to dead, what is nominal drain on truck?

I was having a similar issue with our 09 Honda Odyssey. Three new batteries in 14 months all from AutoZone. Each one replaced under warranty. After third battery failed and alternator still checked good I took the van to my mechanic. He replaced the Autozone battery with a Delco battery and ran a draw test for a week and couldn't find a problem. Turns out all of the AutoZone batteries were defective. Our van has been running great for eight months with the new Delco battery.

RE: I drove a 2020 Silverado D/A 3500HD today

I'd love to buy a new D/A but the price, wow. We have talked about getting a used diesel pusher instead of a new up truck and fifth wheel for retirement. New truck and FW would push us north of $150000. Still trying to figure out what to do. It's only money and we only live once.

RE: Slide out awnings

Yes, no cons for us. Nice to have clean slide tops and the slides stay cooler as well.

RE: Electric Fridge, Now That Hole in the Side..

I just used foam board insulation to cover the wall holes and then used black Gorilla tape on the inside of the vent covers to cover up the vent holes so bugs couldn't get in.

RE: Financing question

Call your credit union and get the loan. When we purchased our FW I had the loan ready to go. Once we made the deal, I sent over the buyers order to loan officer and the next day the money was in my checking account and I wrote the dealer a check. You'll still have to listen to the upsell as the finance manager does all the final paperwork.

RE: front hitch

We use a Curt front mount hitch and a Swagman XC bike rack on our GMC 3500. Zero issues with cooling, drove 600 miles one way to Florida in 90° heat and engine stayed at normal temps. Going on five years with our set up.

RE: Dog won't go into RV

Velcro some cloth backing to the backside of the steps. One of our dogs had a similar issue and once we blocked out the gap he goes right up and in.

RE: Assistance with opening bathroom roof vent

Go to Walgreens and pick up a reacher from the medical goods department. We have one to close the roof vent and to reach items to far away

RE: Dumping Tanks in an Empty Full Service Site

We do this all the time when we stay at our local state park. The dump station is a 1/4 mile away and the nearest site with sewer is less then 1000'. So much easier and it goes into the same public sewer.
