RE: Keystone Eagle HT Fivers

Keystone doesn't make the Eagle. That would be Jayco!!

New Tow Vehicle

I am looking at a 2019 F-250 with the 6.7 Turbo Diesel. My question is it has 3.55 rear end. I am towing a Keystone 30RLS I don't believe I am over 10K. fully loaded. Any issues towing with this gear ratio?

Slides on a slight incline

So I was looking at my rig as it sits in the driveway getting ready for our trip and I got a funny feeling. It does not sit level and we actuate the slides out to load it. Though I have never had a problem or heard any strange sounds I was wondering. Is this bad for the rig? How un-level is bad for the slides? On page 325 of the Your rig thread is a picture of our rig in the drive.

RE: Upstairs Living Room

Currently we have a rear living. We looked at the FWD or upstairs living. DW didn't care for the kitchen. Other than that it looked great for family and friends. Lots of room and seating. Pin weight is a little heavier I believe.

RE: Beach front vacation ideas

Panhandle is 800 miles from Indy. Easy two day drive. Checkout Camping on the Gulf Destin. Right on beach. Sites are small. Try Top Sail Hill Santa Rosa Beach about 10 miles east of Destin. Sites are spacious. Beach is about 1/4 mile away. Bike or ride shuttle to beach. Get your reservations now! Best of luck. WOW Gulf Destin only shows 2 sites available for our dates in October.Must be a popular camp ground. It looks beautiful.

RE: Beach front vacation ideas

By the looks of it I need to start looking at the Outer Banks. Cape Hatteras looks really nice.

Beach front vacation ideas

The DW and I are trying to plan our fall vacation. We are wanting a beach vacation by the ocean within 2 days drive from Indianapolis. We are considering Hilton Head but the reviews about the island and big trucks ive read do not sound good. Does anyone have other places or spots next to the ocean they can recommend? We are trying to avoid driving all the way to Florida. Mobile Alabama is also up for consideration.

Is this normal????

We had a TT for the past three years and upgraded to a 5ver this year. I was getting her ready to be put up for the winter and started winterizing. I unscrewed the plug for the water heater and I pulled out a rod that looked really corroded. The TT had a plastic plug. The 5ver has some sort of rod that looks like it is dissolving in the tank. Is this normal? https://i.imgur.com/siRr3wgl.jpg

RE: Transmission question

Thanks everyone for your responses. I do all the things people suggested. But sometimes I get talking to the DW and forget to give it a little gas and the computer takes over. I have read both let the computer do its job and anticipate and accelerate prior to the hill. This last trip from Indiana to Florida through Tennessee on the way back I pretty much left the cruise off the whole time and tried to keep it in 4th gear or higher. There were a few times I got down to third gear just to stay around 55 up long steep grades. Truck pulls the 5ver great. I just want to take care of the TV the best I can for many future trips. I have thought about locking out 6th gear through the hills but wasn't sure if there were any benefits to doing that.

Transmission question

Ok Here it is. I have a 2016 F-250 6.2L gas pulling a 2018 Cougar Half Ton 30RLS roughly 9500lbs loaded. When on pretty steep or long hills with the cruise on the transmission will shift all the way down to 3rd gear while traveling 60MPH. Is this hard on the transmission? I have been kicking the cruise off and keeping it to 4th gear when I can but I sometimes let the cruise do its thing. Just trying to take care of the Tow Vehicle for many many family adventures.

RE: Rough start

I tend to agree that when parked at home, the fridge is just enough out of level to affect the circulation of the coolant. When you go down the road, it shakes the coolant enough to get it circulating. We had a similar problem with our previous fifth wheel. When it was parked by our shed the fridge would work but it would not work in the driveway. Our driveway is not sloped much, but it was enough to keep it from working. To test this idea, you might put the fridge on gas, take the trailer for a short drive and then see if it stays cooling when you park back in the drive. I know it would be an annoyance to do this, but if that makes the fridge work, you know it is the slope of your driveway. That's a good idea. On page 325 of the sticky thread there's a pic of our rig in the drive. I showed it to the dealer and he said it should work like that. The pass port fridge was on the passenger side and it always worked in the drive. Odd.

Rough start

In March we upgraded from a 2015 Keystone Passport 2920BH TT To a 2018 Keystone Half Ton 30RLS 5ver. The Passport had 0 issues over a three year period. Now lets talk about the Fifth wheel. So far we have had the following issues. Gas Water heater would not lite. Electric water pump would not hold pressure to use while on the road. Grey tank valve leaked. (Just glad it wasn't the Black tank).Awning broke today. Only one arm was extending, the shock busted at the bottom, and the fridge. Lets discuss the fridge. I really would like others opinion on the fridge. It wont work in the drive way????. So while its parked at home It will not get cold. I've tried it in auto, Gas only, slide in slide out. Nothing. 3 hours down the road it starts working??. Had it at the dealer for three weeks and they couldn't get it to fail. This has happened twice. Brought it home this week to get ready for our Disney trip and the Fridge wont cool off and the awning broke. Called the dealer and they're stumped. I am too. It works on the road but not at home? It is on a slight incline which I showed a pic to the dealer and they said it wasn't enough to cause the problem. So Memorial weekend trip, Summer trip, and now right before our fall trip we cant load the fridge??? Very frustrated!!!. We stuck with Keystone because on the great experience we had with the TT. The dealer has fixed everything we discussed except the awning(That broke today) and the fridge. They are reluctant to replace the fridge because they can't get it to fail when we take it to them a few days after we return from our trips. Anyone else had these kind of issues with Keystone or with the fridge specifically?? We love the floor plan but the little things are starting to add up in a short amount of time. What happens when it gets a few years on it. Like I said. A rough start with the new Fifth Wheel..

RE: Never thought we'd consider a 5er...but .. (part 2)

Congrats on the new rig. Curious that looks like Walnut Ridge RV.. We purchased both our TT and this year our new 5th wheel from them. DW and I love the people there.. We went from a 30 ft TT to a Keystone 30RLS. Couldn't be happier.. Enjoy and happy camping.
