RE: Buying a Former Rental Class C. How many of us out there?

Where do I find my 'preference settings' for this forum? I can't see any pictures due to 'your preference settings' Click on the "My Forums" link located in the upper-right portion of most forum pages. Click on the "My Preferences" link located in the list of links that run horizontally across the window. At the bottom of the General Preferences section, you will find 4 check boxes. The third one governs whether or not you will see pictures in the body of posts. While you are on you preferences page, check to see if you want to make any other changes. After completing changes, scroll to the bottom of the page and click on the Submit Changes button.

RE: Auxiliary Start Solenoid Replacement

The solenoid coil is an electromagnet and the heat generated is a byproduct of the magnetic field creation process which is normal when in use. If you have a BIRD and are plugged in then it is doing its job by keeping both the chassis battery and the house batteries charged. That is the same solenoid I I use in my 2006 Tioga and it has worked fine.https://i.ebayimg.com/images/g/54wAAOSwRpphQURV/s-l500.jpg height=220 The only time I tested my AUX switch to see if it worked was to place a dead chassis battery then try it to start it,just unhooking it I got nothing.

RE: What's needed for sewer hose storage

I keep all my Rhino sewer hoses,The 15 Foot and The 5 Foot extension and all fittings in a Rubbermaid Tote, this keeps them away from everything so it won't contaminate anything and it is stackable. https://i.imgur.com/SH8IILul.jpg height=350

RE: valve stem extenders

The last thing you want to do is put those flexible extenders on your rubber valve stems. They have a tendency to leak and if they get loose from the anchoring point they can flop around and not only do damage to your wheel but suddenly deflate the tire causing a catastrophic loss. I can speak from experience, this happened with my old Class A. What is needed is a extended valve stem that will let you quickly check your tire pressure. They add no extra weight like the Extenders would and balancing is no problem, TPMS works on them as well Something like the Duallyvalve I have a set like them and I never have to take my simulators off to check the air pressure. Just find a tire shop that does heavy duty trucks,I know I had no problem finding one to install mine.Just google truck tire service in your area I am sure many will come up.

RE: House Battery charging

The WF series are not good. Consider replacement with something else. I would agree,I would replace it with a Progressive Dynamics unit. Call Randy at Best Converters They will give you the best one for the replacement. He has helped me and many others on this Forum. Ask Randy

RE: House Battery charging

I have a 2006 Tioga on a Chevy chassis also made by Fleetwood. unless it has been changed out you will have a WFCO converter, these old ones will boil your batteries. You need a newer 3 stage one to replace it. I replaced mine with one,Like this one I keep it plugged in all the time and check the batteries monthly and very seldom have to add water over the more than 12 years that I have owned it. Also look in your Battery Bay to see if you have a BIRD like this one, many of the Fleetwood RVs of this era had them,as mine does. When plugged in to will keep all of your batteries including your chassis battery, that is what it is designed to do. https://i.imgur.com/2WfV4n2l.jpg height=300 "border=0" https://i.imgur.com/m3zZPvb.pngClick For Full-Size Image. As for the Die Hards my experience with them was not good I would stay with the ones that you can check the water.

RE: Addressing truck/wind push in a Sprinter based Class C

When an 18-wheeler overtakes your RV, it's bow-wave of air hits the left rear of the RV first, and that pushes the rear toward the shoulder. When the body rear moves right slightly before the rear axle does, it amplifies the push to the left that you feel in the front causing you to correct steering As the 18-wheeler bow wave moves toward the front , it pushes the front of the RV to the right, it amplifies the steering correction you have already done causing you to have to correct to the left. This whole thing, if you are not used to the feelings, can be quite scary. One way to overcome that is to install Vortex Generators like Air Tabs They cut down on the dead air and drag on the rear of RV and greatly reduce the bow wave of passing trucks. I have AIRTABS on my Class C. They really help on a cross wind situation,no more sudden buffeting. It has also stopped the sideways push when being passed or passing a large truck. They are a vortex generator that produce a counter rotating air trail several feet behind the vehicle, This airflow alteration improves vehicle stability. As far a mileage it may helped some but the stability they provided is amazing.
