RE: dingy induced sway

Have you tried adding a "de-rattler" at each of the interfaces between hitch and receiver? There is some play at those joints and that can cause stability issues. The de-rattler will eliminate that play.
I have tried almost every Anti Rattle device on the market, most have been no good or so complicated and cumbersome that they are useless. I have a whole tool box full of them.
Until I found the one at Hitch Rider. This will keep everything tight. No back and forth or up and down,as most others only pull tight in one direction.
Their Hitch Vice is the best and easiest one I have come across and it really works, nothing moves.

RE: Buying a Former Rental Class C. How many of us out there?

Hey Chris
My thermostat is hooked to my Ducted A/C unit and also to my furnace,It replaced the old one Like this one which controls both of them.
It can be hooked up to only control just the furnace. As I found out when trying to replace the old one, kept changing wires around until I got the right combo to run them both as the old one did..There is quite a few posts here on the forum,Here are a few That I found using the google search.
As for the Bilsteins, they made the ride much nicer and controlled the leaning and porpoising. With the old ones after a dip the RV would go down then up then down again and up.With the Bilsteins they only make one rotation then settle back to the flat ride.
It also takes out the harshness of the ride.
I have been using Bilsteins for over 30 years, from my off-road vehicles thru all of my other vehicles, trucks,Suvs and other RVs.
I hope this helps, anything else just ask, happy to help when I can.
Happy Camping.

RE: How does this work? TV antenna

When I bought my RV it had a Winegard Batwing that was not working, I cleaned up all connections and tested to see if it was broken, it was,so I replaced it with a new Batwing Head then ran a Channel Scan I was not impressed with the amount of channels that I got. This was done in my driveway here in the south bay of So Calif about 30 miles from the transmitters, using my SensarPro.
I then went out and got a Wingman add on, that put my channel scan up to 85,but I had a clearance problem with the Wingman,it hit my A/C.
So I opted to put a Jack Antenna and my channel scan went up to 174

I always get beat up by the techies, The debate will go on and on, but I know what works best for me,in the real world.

RE: How does this work? TV antenna

It's missing a crank & dial, that cranks up the antenna and turns it, it's directional, if I'm remembering right.
It looks like it is missing These parts to move it around and the Handle to crank it up

RE: Refill small propane cylinder

The little green bottles are single-use disposables because the valves are junk.
This is the very reason I went to the 1 Gallon that I linked in my OP.
More than once after I turned off my Weber and did not take the bottle off I would come back and it would be empty. One time I took one off and the valve didn't close up and the propane still was flowing. With the 1 Gallon when I turn it off I know it is off.

Hello OP back here.I said I would come back and tell how it is going with my Lumbar Epidural. After a referral to the pain DR.and a consultation then the OK for the procedure to have Depo Medrol injected. So after about 6 weeks I had the procedure.
It went well and after 48 hours I have some small relief.the DR. said that it may be 1 to 2 weeks before the full effect is felt,we will see.

RE: renting out your RV? Success stories? Issues?

There have been a few on here that have done that and seem to be happy with it and the way it helps pay for their RV. Here is one example
They list on RV Share and seem to do very well. They also list on Outdoorsy
On a personal note I have run across a few campers that had rented them thru RV Share and Outdoorsy. One told me that the person that he rented from had 2 Majestics that he rented out.
One trip recently,a Chinese couple parked one space away from me and I happened to ask how they liked their Former Rental.
I was surprised when they told me that they had rented from a man in their Chinese Community that had 5 of them and rented mostly within that community. They told me that they had reserved months in advance just to get an open spot. I seemed that he was doing very well.

RE: Loss of power

In the hatch where the shore power cord is stored is where the genset receptacle is located in your vintage of rigs.
The older style motor homes (which yours is) usually had a plug (female receptacle) in one of the storage bays. Probably the bay where the power cord enters the motor home. When you plug into shore power, the plug goes to the receptacle on the pedestal. When you need the generator, the plug goes into the receptacle in the storage bay. If you don't plug the cord into the receptacle, the generator will run but will not connect (power up) to the motor home.
Look in your electric bay or one of the others see if you can find something like this

RE: Storage Lock Size?

As mentioned, take them out then you can replace them with These Cam Locks from RV locks&More, they can all be keyed alike and they come with heavy duty keys so you only have one key for everything. Just pick the size and the key number and how many you want.
I also like that they have a cover on the key slot that moves when you insert the key, thus keeping all grime out.

Refill small propane cylinder

A thread was closed before I could ask Grit Dog or anyone else about this. I have not heard of this here or anywhere else.
I carry This one for my small Weber Q,much easier to store and move.
I have never had a problem getting it filled. Are there some places that prohibit this and if so why.

PS, that is the cutest little LP bottle I’ve ever seen! Good thing that guy don’t live in PA because he’d be stuck with no LP refills ….lol

RE: Buying a Former Rental Class C. How many of us out there?

Well it seems that you have it all dialed in. It is too bad you did not go with the one on Chevy Chassis that would give you a much smoother ride and a quieter and more spacious cockpit area making it much easier to access the house area, bathroom etc while there.
If you get a chance try both and see the difference when getting from the cockpit area to the house part.
As you can see I am a bit biased on this but I am a happy camper :B

RE: Buying a Former Rental Class C. How many of us out there?

Seems like a strange business model that company has...They buy it new and THEY eat the immediate depreciation when they turn around and sell it with 6000 miles. Hard to believe the rental income from 6000 miles worth of rentals would be worth it to them.
-Chris
To touch on this a bit, this business model was in use back in 2012 by Road Bear. They were selling 1 to 2 year old RVs with low mileage. They were acquired by a New Zealand company, Tourism Holdings Limited.
Here is an example
Their business model was what they call flex fleet they buy in large lots across a peak season then are sold in 9-18 month period opposed to the 5-6 year traditional model.
They went on to buy up many other RV rental Companies in New Zealand and Australia UK and Europe. Most recently in 2017 El Monte RV then Sept of this year Apollo/Canada Dream an Australia company,They also had been using this model for some time.
Apollo had a lot near me and in 2017 I visited their lot they had about 100 units and about half were for sale I was amazed that the were all about 1-2 years old and low mileage.
Here is a picture of that lot
I don't know what company that Deb and Ed bought from but they may be affiliated with one of these. We may find out.
From my recent research it seem that Cruise America follows the old model, buying purpose built RVs and selling them with high mileage and 4 or more years old.
Where the others buy production models, like mine is,and selling them newer and with low mileage.
It seems to be working, they are just getting bigger.

RE: Not enough room

When traveling I use the Gas Buddy app from there I find where I am going to be, then I use Google Maps, not Google earth.
Punch in the address of the Gas Station and it will give you the street view just click on that in the upper left corner and using your cursor look around, you can see the approach and the surrounding area, has always worked for me.
