Three way fridge

I've seen some of the newer RVs have "Three way refrigerators" 120V...12V and gas. I've had the typical 2 way (120V and Gas) wht's up with the third?

Blue Tec Fluid

I've heard that all 2013 diesels require the blue tec fluid. How much cost does that add to your driving. Also how many gallons of diesel does one gal of the stuff treat? Thanks in advance

Smaller motels

My wife and I are thinking about going cross-country. I'm tired of those big chain hotels. Is there a book or website that can show the smaller drive-up motels?

RE: LP generators

Thanks all....I've been looking at Mercedes with Sprinter diesel chassis and all usually have LP generators (3600) watts. I assume the Ford transit diesel chassis is similar ,unless it has the V6 gasoline engine.

LP generators

Roughly, how much propane does an LP generator use in say, a 12 hr period? I'm thinking of buying a Class C with the 6 cyl diesel and some of those coaches only carry 12 gal propane tanks,

Smaller Class C

Now that the kids are gone, I'm looking for a smaller Class C. Something around 26 or 27 feet. Not brand new but only a few years old. I'm not crazy about those 2' x 3' showers. And the ones with only the full size corner beds with the cut-off end isn't practical for me. Any suggestions??

RE: Ford Class C with 6 speed transmission

My old'99 Ford F53 Class A chassis with the V 10 and 4 speed trans was doing about 2600 RPM at 60 mph in overdrive. What can I expect from a Class C ,E 450 6 or 5 speed at 60?

Ford Class C with 6 speed transmission

I see that the newer Fords with a V 10 have a six speed auto transmission. When did they replace the old 5 speed (I had a '99 with only a 4 speed) Would one expect to get better gas mileage with the new tranny??

RE: RV to power home temp

I have a few times. I just made a power cord with two male ends. FIRST..extremely important... shut off your main incoming circuit breaker in your home's panel. Then plug your motorhome's cord into the closest outlet in your home. Now half of the homes outlets will be powered. If it isn't the outlets you need, try plugging it into a different outlet. You will be back-feeding electricity to one of the two buss bars in your panel. One other thing, flip off any 220 volt breakers that are in your panel.( water heater, elec stove , well pump, clothes dryer etc)

RE: First class A, tippy feel when driving

A lot of people will suggest changing your shock. Don't bother. A while back I bought a used Ford V10 Class A. Only had 30k miles. I didn't like the ride, so I installed the best Monroe RV shocks available. My mechanic said that the old ones looked fine. They were. I noticed absolutely no difference in the ride or sway. Your vehicle is large with a basic simple suspension similar to vehicles of 60 years ago. Better just get used to it.
