Our ins co let's us pay 10 months, quarterly or twice a year but if you don't pay in full they charge $6 every payment. We pay in full at every renewal.

RE: Need a different TV, please don't throw popcorn!

We have 18?,??? miles on our X and needed something newer to pull a 33' TT. TV's cost so much that we traded the TT for a MH.

RE: Average cargo load for retired couple fulltiming?

We only go a few months at a time and could never live with only 1500 lbs of stuff.

RE: Looking To Get Roadside Coverage

We used Coach Net once in 10 years, we had a TT then and they towed our excursion home when the starter quit. We still have Coach Net but I don't want another brake down.

RE: check and double check

We only went 5 or 6 thousand miles a year and I would check and adj if needed about every 4 years. The brakes will last a lot longer if you leave the wires disconnected.

RE: How far is it safe to drive on a blown tire?

You can change a tire in the travel lane and I will find a safe place to pull off.

RE: How far is it safe to drive on a blown tire?

When one tire is flat it still has all the weight on it that it had when good. At 5 MPH it won't hurt the other tire. Drive it to a safe spot. It doesn't have to be the next exit, only the next safe place to get off the road. When it says emergency stopping only, a flat tire is not an emergency in my book.

RE: Day/Night shades

Loosen the screw, pull the string (a little) and tighten the screw. There is a small spring inside the top for tension.

RE: towed vehicle choce

Do you want auto or standard? Do you want room to put stuff or just something light? Your "best" might not be someone else's "best". Best for me was something that I could tow without doing anything but hitch up. We traveled three days once and I never looked at the towed and then on the fourth day I unhooked and started it. No fuse no run every four hrs, nothing, and no limit to the speed.

RE: Using smart phone as a hot spot

I have an AT&T smart phone that use as pay as you go. I only got the smart phone because the screen was big enough for me to see. Last fall we were going where there was my WiFi and I went to AT&T to ask about a hot spot. They took my phone and showed me how to turn on the hotspot and said I just needed to buy data. $45 a month ($40 with a contract) and all is good. I used it 2 months last fall and turned it off. This spring I paid the $45 and when the month was out I paid the $45 again and the unused data carried over. It works for me plus the wife can play words with friends with her kindle while we are on the road.

RE: Am I Crazy for Thinking of Stepping Back 9 Years?

We just traded a nice 4 year old TT with many extras that we bought new for an 11 year old Winnebago. The gave us a fair price for the TT but we gave them a lot of money. If what we have now works better for us and is worth more then what we had I don't think we stepped back. After a tent, pop-up, pickup camper, and two TT all bought new, this used one was made with better quality then any of them.

RE: Hot water tank plug never seen one like this

8 point socket or square socket should be used on a square plug.

RE: Planning ahead, for the end ...

My wife doesn't drive the MH but she can. If we are on the road and I am dead she will have more to worry about then the MH. Every one should know how to pack up and go and she does. she has driven and parked. That said, what she does when I'm gone is going to be up to her and she knows that, but who knows what she will do.

RE: Let me revise my post

You could take US 17 from FL to VA and then US 11 to NY.

RE: Dislike of 'Reservation Only' camping

We don't ever make reservations but don't often go anywhere popular on holidays. we save those places for when kids are in school. In 30 years, we have found a full campground one time.

RE: Slow down and smell the roses directions

US 17 goes from FL to VA (almost PA) if you aren't in a hurry. It's all good road and much to see.

RE: Brakes on towed vehicle or not?

In CT you don't nead brakes on a towed under 3000 lb BUT, you nead brakeaway function. Our towed is about 2600 lb, if you see us you will know what we have.

RE: A successful trip in an old Class A

We got and "old" 2004 Winnebago last Oct. We went 3200 miles last fall and 4300 miles this spring. Every thing went fine, and I don't have much to do but regular service. Should I be disappointed?
