RE: Motorcycle on receiver rack.

My driveway and lawn have inclines which takes care of half the problem. Bring ramp and ask for help upon arrival or look for grade incline like I do. I have to do this next week on a trip to deliver a scooter to my daughter in OH (600 mi.) I do not want to haul my 7x14 trailer there and back (empty) for 300lbs. No motor, push,at 66 I feel your pain. Best of luck.

RE: Very Expensive RV Parking Spot!

Looks like a great place. We're looking to move closer to kids/grandkids, (kid is a twin also) but the prices here are ridiculously high now with everybody trying to leave NYC, plus the price of lumber is just as crazy. We keep looking hoping the right place will pop-up. Hope your plan comes together for you and your family.

RE: Helping a very new TC owner with a truck decision

One thing I haven't seen mentioned are the OEM rims. Their usually rated in the neighborhood of the rear axle.

RE: Truck Registration Weight

I reg. a past truck @ my GCVWR thinking I was doing the right thing, turned out all I was doing was giving my hard earned $$$ to NY DMV for free. Register your truck @ what reg. says it weighs. You can also reg. your 250-2500, 350-3500's as a passenger vehicle because you put a T.C. in it, insurance, reg.,tolls.... are all alot cheaper. Tolls alone will fill your tank 4-5 times a year. Inquire @ N.Y. DMV for the proper form. They'll tell you, you can't do it because of the weight, have a pic. of truck w/ T.C. loaded when you go there. DO NOT take "no you can't do it" for an answer it is 100% legal. No offense to anyone out there but DMV does not have all the brightest stars.

RE: Camper Security

Glad you got a spot. I worked all over NYC (World's Capital) from the 70's to the 2010's, and common sense is all you will need to get you bye. I live 45 miles North and agree it gets a bad rap. Shotguns are not illegal, you can have one in truck/camper, but there isn't any open carry either, unless you want trouble, lol. You can check out Croton Point Park run by Westchester County, they went year round a few years back. It's 35 miles to mid town and the train is only a 10 min walk, or 2-3 min drive. Good luck n enjoy NYC, K Mac

RE: TC Fitted Cover

I also bought a Goldline 6-7 yrs ago still looks like new, and I use it ALOT. Another thing I do (today) is before a snow, I have a 10x20 tarp I throw over the cover and pull it taught enough, so I hardly get any cavities (around A/C) and most of the snow slides off by itself. I started doing this after a few big sno's and the thaw/melt cycle would create big blocks of ice in the cavities created by the weight of the snow. I remove the tarp after the snow to let the cover breath. The cover is not 100% waterproof but close, it sheds most of the water. Makes a huge difference with black streaks, and it's good UV protection.

RE: Truck Camper Weight...I know, I know

In NY, all pickup trucks have commercial plates. There is no requirement for pickup trucks to pull into weigh stations....///... In NY F150,Chev./GMC 1500, Dodge 1500 are PASSENGER PLATED. My F 350 SRW, is pass. plated, this is because DMV says it is. I use it with a TC in in it and DMV consider's it a camper. Take a look at the next Class A, motor home that passes you, notice it has pass. plates also. It's just how DMV does it. Yes, no requirement for weigh stations.

RE: hiding spare key IN cab of 2020 F-350 - truck gets confused?

I have been doing this since 2005 with all 3 of my F 350 Lariat's. Don't forget to foil bag your ez pass if you tow something in a trailer also. Towed mine and friends bike one time and he didn't bag his bike's ez pass, and got charged for all tolls, ouch !

RE: Conn. TC owners

Thanks guys for the info. My son who moved there warned me about CT's DMV fees. I thought NY was bad. I don't go on pkwy., with TC. NY put the !0' limit to control the roofing and siding contractors, who get they're Sprinters, Transit's, whatever, as tall as tractor trailers with all the there equipment. And seeing this is my post, I'll note recent law changes, restrictions, with others if I please, even if heights have no bearing with DMV registration fees. Thanks again for the info on DMV questions. :)

RE: Conn. TC owners

LOL BurbMan from my coffee seat I would watch TT's and big trucks hit a bridge on Rte 6 where the Bear Mtn. Pkwy. goes over 6. This bridge is probably close to 75 years old at least. finally about 10 yrs. ago they figured out by putting 3' sidewalks under the bridge it would solve their problem. lol Did you notice that when the Sprinter vans came out,so did signs with 10' height limits on all the pkwy's. Thanks for the info. K Mac

Conn. TC owners

We're probably going to relocate to CT when DW retires (grandbabies) and I'm having trouble navigating CT DMV website. Do you have to register a TC in CT ?, and how would you register a F 350 SRW. I've seen these combo plates, what's the story with these ?,and I can't find the answers I need. Do they need annual inspection ? Here in NY my 350 is considered commercial, but by adding a TC it puts me in the passenger class. This lets me drive our pkwy's and see a Great reduction in fee's paid on toll roads all along the East Coast. No inspection either. Any insight would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, K Mac
