RE: Changing oil.

I used Ford dealerships when on the road. I called Ford Customer Service and got the names of dealerships in the area who service motorhomes. Worked out well for me.

RE: No power

Worth a try... reset GFI.. usually located in bathroom.

RE: air compressors

I carry a hot dog compressor from Harbor Freight, 120 volt. It has worked fine for truck and trailer tires. Around $50.

RE: Broken Macerator - Tank Full

Never heard of no valve gate. Is there a compartment right about the outlet that maybe the handle is located in? I had a Pleasure Way and yes, it was low to the ground, but I did have the handles. If me, I would call a septic tank service and get a pump out.

RE: Auxiliary brake system

Used the Brake Buddy Classic for years. Had one rebuilt. Excellent customer service. I towed cars, not trucks. When I sold my last one, a gentleman with a 1/2 ton truck bought it.

RE: Smaller or more minimalist truck camper

I had a Palomino truck camper on a 3/4 ton long bed, Dodge Ram. I put air bags on the truck and it was the perfect set up. Drove beautifully, no sway. Went from FL to the state of WA with it. Awesome way to travel. Had all the amenities. It was about 2400 dry and within specs for the truck bed when loaded. I did not find the long bed, crew cab hard to drive. I looked at the CampLite, they can be for short beds or long beds. A little concerned about the quality, but they looked good.

RE: Poop Tote Carrier

I put mine in the bed of the truck.

RE: Rear window reflective sun shade

Would a motorhome windshield sunshade work for your big window? I used a regular size folding kind in my fifth-wheel rear window. Worked great. Or buy a roll of it at Lowe's or Home Depot and cut to size?

RE: Towing with older vehicle

I had a 2003 Pleasure Way, hitch rated for 10,000#. I wouldn't have hesitated in the least bit to tow a lightweight car.

RE: Can I get on my roof?

I used to get on my roof (different units, different roof types.) Don't now, but only due to my age. My neighbor next door just had his roof inspected and the person walked all over it. He has a rubber roof. Just be careful if you go up there!

RE: Favorite way to skip the interstates?

Paper maps and US highways.

RE: Making the move back to a Class A

I had a Monaco Monarch, 2011, 31'.. full wall slide. That was a top notch coach. Ford V-10. Probably my favorite of all my Class A's. Next was a 31' Winnebago Sightseer.

RE: Rte 2 Across Vermont, New Hampshire into Maine

Many years ago I took it from Maine to NH. It was very doable with a Class A and toad. I do remember where it said "road out ahead" and lo and behold, that is exactly what they meant. The pavement ended and it was just a packed section! That was a shocker. But, a very pretty scenic road. Enjoy.

RE: TT When Solo....OR Truck Camper?

I got a new truck camper and traveled solo (with my Cocker Spaniel) from FL to OR. It was a fantastic trip and so refreshing to be able to pull into most places and just park and set up. Did have to disconnect from utilities if I wanted to go out of the park to do any sightseeing, but then having all the "facilities" with me made it great. I was living in the TC full-time when I did this. Much easier than hooking up the travel trailer I purchased in OR and towing it back to FL. I would think a TC would be perfect for your needs.

RE: '06' monarch house electronics not working

Is your coach battery shutoff switch in the "off" position?

RE: Fifth wheel length question

My favorite size was 31' (or very close to it.) With slides, that was a very comfortable size for the 2 of us.

RE: Month/Year of Mfr

I have never found any stickers on my Class A's like that. If there is the manual and some paperwork on warranties on various components, maybe you could pick up a date from that? Or from service records?

RE: Known pros/cons these brands?

I have had Forest River products, some OK, some not. Also a Dutchmen, it was OK. My only thought is an island kitchen.. if you use the trailer going down the road (like I do) usually an island kitchen blocks access to some parts of the trailer. Personally, I would want to see it all closed up to see if I can use the sections I want. I was in severe weather a couple of years ago. Had to pull the super slide in and stayed in for 3 days. I was able to use all parts of the fifth-wheel. Good luck in your new search and sorry for your loss.

RE: New Travel Trailer

If it were my daughter and hubby, I would leave the trailer purchase to their choice. Their money. If I directed them to another trailer or brand and it had a lot of problems, well, you know the rest of the story. The truck, don't know enough about it, but I towed 7000# with a 2500 gasser and had no problems. I would think a diesel would do a good job. Whether 1/2 ton or 3/4. Good luck to them and hope y'all can make lots of good camping memories.

RE: Traveling with Propane on

I didn't travel with refrig on LP for years. Then, once I started doing it, I was fine. I do turn off the refrigerator and LP before I put fuel in. Then, pull away from the pumps and start it all back up. I usually cooled it down 24 hours prior to leaving (before full-timing) with either electric or LP, whichever was available.
