RE: Florida State Parks increasing fees.

$7 a day for electric is unreal. My electric bill is anywhere from 45.00 to 80.00 per month in FL in a campground. I pay my own bill, on annual rent fee. Guess most of us old folks will be cutting back on State Park camping... hard to get a site to start with and now this. My rant for the day.

AAA opened my trailer one time... or locksmith.

RE: Cortez, CO RV parks?

In Mancos, CO I stayed at Mesa Verde RV Resort. Nice. Don't know how close that is to your planned destination.

RE: Stupid question about tires

Truck and one travel trailer I had, all had nitrogen. I use my air compressor to fill my truck tires when needed. Did the same with that trailer.

RE: Are one ton trucks classified as commercial in some states?

My 3/4 ton was classified commercial in FL up until I traded it in 2019.

RE: Poop in outside sink

I would call the mfg, customer service.. have vin ready. Ask if the outside kitchen sink is indeed plumbed to the black tank. I had a Hurricane Class A motorhome and the bathroom sink was plumbed to the black tank. Only model which was done that way. Customer service was my answer. If not that, there is another problem as you know.

RE: Brake buddy setup in vehicle

The seat has to be firm against the handle of the BB. BUT, not enough for brake lights to show. We contacted BB, customer service and they actually sent us a piece of molded plastic for free to go on seat which did the job. They have excellent customer service. Setting the BB up used to be my late husband's "job." He would set it in, connect it all up and then move the seat up as I described in first paragraph.

RE: Towing with Dodge short bed

I used a slider in a short box and when I slid the hitch back and started to manuver, the pin box caught the tail gate... did a number on it. First time I ever used the slider... before that was super careful in backing/turning.

RE: steering stabilizer

I used Steer Safe on 2 different Class A's and one Class C. I really thought it made a difference in handling along with the safety features in case of flat tire. Camping World did all the installations for me. Very satisfied.

RE: Need advice on my first camper truck

I drove a 2500 Dodge Ram, LB, CC with a 2019 truck camper on it from FL to OR. Perfectly matched truck/camper weights. Added airbags to truck. No way in hell would I even consider driving a truck camper at 80 mph on the interstate... even on a good traveling day. A whole different ball game to me. Just my 2 cent worth. My 2500 did great, gas, 5.7 Hemi... if I were to do it again, I would get one with a slide and go the 3500/350 route.. dually.

RE: Help with hooking up

I learned to hook the sway bars/weight distribution bars up... AFTER it is hooked on securely to the ball, insert the bars into the hitch and raise the trailer up (truck will also raise up) until the bars swing very easily onto the trailer part and then secure. Same to take them off. Found trailer should be as level as can ben. I, too am solo at 77 and hard to do at first. I have a power jack.. could not do without it. Doubt if too much help from campground, pay or no pay, liability issues... but a camper might help you. I leave the hitch/ball in the truck receiver all the time. It is too heavy for me to remove. If someone walks into it, oh well. (I have, too.. LOL) Good Luck

RE: Would you back a camper for someone?

I am solo (widow) and have certainly accepted help in backing into a campsite if it was offered. Some people offer to guide me in, some would rather just back it in. At 77, I have no pride or shame and will accept any help offered when it comes to backing in. I try to get pull-thru's when possible. You may be one of those who can back it in perfectly.. your husband maybe able to guide you in. Go for it. I used to do all the work associated with traveling, so that part is still OK with me. Good Luck and happy trails.

RE: Northeast Oregon

Don't know if this is near your area you are planning, but I stayed in Rufus, OR at the COE.. think it was called LePage. Very nice. Near the John Day Dam as I recall.

RE: Locked Out!

My first thought was to press in on the door, but you tried that. Next is to spray the key itself with some silicone or graphite and put into the keyhole. If you don't have an unlocked window, can ERS help you out? They came once for me.

RE: Another Towing Question

If I am reading your post correctly, your Max. towing weight is 7,000 and your trailer is 7513..unloaded? I tow right at 5,000 with a 1500 and it is doable. At 9,000 #'s, I definitely would want a 250 or 2500. Just my opinion.

RE: Running a generator to exercise it when there's shore power?

I always ran my generator at least 30 minutes, but usually an hour each month. Actually I would take the motorhome out for a Sunday drive, once a month, about 50 miles each way. Run the genny with a/c load on it. Gave the tires/slides/jacks all a chance to move. And, always enjoyed the ride and the lunch in it. Was told not to let the gas varnish in the generator or I would have big problems.

RE: Fun with Doggie DNA test

Love it! One of a kind. Yes, I found out at 71, after losing my 13.5 year old cocker and getting a 9 week old cocker... wow! My vet told me the story of a man who had a full-blooded Rottie. Just for the heck of it they did the DNA... it came back 90% Rottie and 10% Poodle! Enjoy your new baby... they don't stay babies for long.
