RE: How long should a battery last?

A few things: 1) where would I get the information needed to know how much the fridge would draw? 2)I have 2 other deep cell batteries that are good. Would that likely get me through a weekend with the information I have already spoke of? 3) If I boondock more often, I will be getting a generator. This is more of a one off situation. 1. Online or from refrigerator manufacturer. 2. You killed one battery in 24 hours, do you want to drain 2 batteries in 2 days? 3. If this is a one off situation and you are only looking to camp for 2 days, maybe you should just go with an ice chest. Using a cooler makes the most sense to me.

RE: How long should a battery last?

Hi, Almost no one boondocks with a single group 24. Consider upgraded the capacity. I've had great luck with reconditioned telcom jars. .

RE: Seven States to Ban the Sale of Gas Powered Cars in 2035

Seven States That Are On My Do Not Visit List: California Maryland Massachusetts New Jersey New York Oregon Washington After all, I'm just helping them out. Since they don't want the type of vehicles I drive, then they shouldn't mind losing any potential tourist revenue. I just wonder if they are going to stop jets from flying into their states? X2. If you happen to wander off course and end up in kali, be sure to hide your bag of Skittles.

RE: Propane Powered Engines Featuring a 7.3 Ford and 6.7 Cummins

Yes... But I think I would rather have this than a EV truck that maybe able to pull your camper ~100 miles at best. Plus these guys claim they're able to maintain factory power. Dream on if you think the ----- types will let you have one of these. They are busy attacking gas stoves right now after all. and washing machines

RE: Rv loan rates!

I have never financed discretionary purchases. It takes me a while to save up, but I do not have the overhead of loans slowing my saving. Paying off our home was the real factor in being able to pre save for purchases rather than financing them into the future at a higher cost. x2

RE: Rv loan rates!

My current RV offered an additional $5k off if I financed through them. When I read the contract, there was no prepayment penalty so I financed it for one payment and then paid it off. For the $170 interest I paid, I saved $5k off the selling price. It's not always about interest rates or monthly payments, it's what does it really cost. Nicely done!

RE: Electric and ICE forever together?

Geez, that's why you are constantly making a friggin stink about EVs? Because your tax dollars are being spent on it... Get over it. Our tax dollars are spent on tons of stuff and no one person is EVER going to be happy with 100 percent of the way it's spent. And yes, we even pay into things that we have no desire to be a part of - big frickin deal. I wonder how you feel about reparations?

RE: Electric and ICE forever together?

This arguing back and forth is just silly. It's a fairly new technology. Of course there are people who are for it and against it. Just like in the early days of ICE vehicles, household electricity, televisions, cell phones, home computers, etc. Government mandates are to try to convince the auto companies to make strides in alternative fuel vehicles. It's working. Even just five years ago, there were very few options. Now there are that more choices and more coming every year. There will be early adopters. The technology will see improvements, and maybe some new directions. Then the masses will start accepting it. And then there are those few who won't embrace it until the very end because: 1) they can't handle change, 2) they cannot accept that there are other ways of doing things, and/or 3) they can't accept they were wrong, There are plenty of sheeple in the world to be led down the garden path. Plenty of us want to walk our own path. Forcing things on us is not the right direction.

RE: 5% tipping point

Congratulations to every American for helping 5% of the population to purchase EV's whether we wanted to or not. I get to buy my own car and help someone else buy theirs too! And feel good that we were contributing to the silver bullet to save the planet - but - eventually distilled down to simply fun to drive. Oh well..But we did find some new and inventive ways to ruin the planet and make a few fellas the richest men in the world in the process. I get it, this post won't last long, not sheeple enough. But I enjoy seeing the truth spelled out even if it's short lived. I'm with 'ya!

RE: Can the grid keep up with EV use?

This thread lasted a lot longer than I thought it would. Let's stop the third grade nae calling or it will end. If you want an EV, go buy one. If you want gas or diesel, go buy one. The ban on IC engines is a long way down the road. I won't have to deal with it. I don't hate EV's I just don't want one. X100 I don't see the point of the discussion. You have a few who like electric, some who bash it, some who don't give a s***. Nobody on this RV forum can say with any amount of certainty what the future holds.

RE: EV alternative for light/medium duty trucks

An Exxon study done in 1982 focused on global warming by Increasing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. Remarkably, thirty-seven years ago Exxon accurately predicted that by 2019, the earth would hit a carbon dioxide concentration of 415 ppm and a temperature increase of almost 1°C (Figure 1). https://www.forbes.com/sites/ianpalmer/2023/01/17/a-fresh-reading-of-exxons-predictions-of-global-warming-and-climate-change-from-40-years-ago/ and yet Exxon just completed a $2B expansion to an oil refinery in Texas after being told by our leaders to increase production, even though said leaders want to shut down their industry. :h

RE: EV alternative for light/medium duty trucks

LOL,thanks but I can't afford to live in the PNW! Interesting and sad that you think you are able guess my politics by my posts about climate change. Maybe ask yourself why one of our political parties became anti-science.:h Perhaps because science is so institutionalized that it has become $cience and some people recognize that. Imagine a scientist having a differing opinion about something without consequences. Also, “science” has been completely wrong plenty of times. I can remember back in the 70's being told we need to get ready for the next "ice age" :R

RE: EV alternative for light/medium duty trucks

That's OK, just read that Montana plans to BAN EV sales by 2035 Interesting. The choice of gas cars will be getting pretty slim by then. 3/4 and 1 ton trucks (and bigger) are not affected by any sales restriction so people will still be able to buy those. That and Toyotas I suppose, and Mazda if they are still around. If they don’t install charging infrastructure tourism will be limited from outside the state. In 2035 gas stations will still be common thru out North America but they will be on the decline. So when people from there leave the state fueling will slowly become more of an issue. It will be kinda cool though. Visiting there in 30 years will be like going to Cuba and seeing all the cool old cars. Nice. :) Even after 2035, you'll still be able to buy gas cars from other states and register them in Cali. I should have added that Cali is the only state all in on 2035.

RE: EV alternative for light/medium duty trucks

If we can now ration electricity use by type (i.e. “wasteful”), we can also eliminate pools, hot tubs, saunas, nightlights, more than one clock, supplemental electric heaters (including block heaters), more than one refrigerator, electric garage door openers, etc., etc., etc. Until then, bitcoin has the same rights as EV owners. Then on top of that, they talk about banning gas stoves. Welcome to Socialism!

RE: EV alternative for light/medium duty trucks

What about the billions of subsidies to the oil companies? What about Exxon (and likely others) knowing in the 1970-80ties about global climate change? All the while spending money to cast doubt on their own results? and yet Exxon just completed a $2B expansion to an oil refinery in Texas after being told by our leaders to increase production, even though said leaders want to shutdown their industry. :h
