RE: Rv loan rates!

My current RV offered an additional $5k off if I financed through them. When I read the contract, there was no prepayment penalty so I financed it for one payment and then paid it off. For the $170 interest I paid, I saved $5k off the selling price. It's not always about interest rates or monthly payments, it's what does it really cost.
Nicely done!

RE: Electric and ICE forever together?

Geez, that's why you are constantly making a friggin stink about EVs? Because your tax dollars are being spent on it...
Get over it. Our tax dollars are spent on tons of stuff and no one person is EVER going to be happy with 100 percent of the way it's spent. And yes, we even pay into things that we have no desire to be a part of - big frickin deal.
I wonder how you feel about reparations?

RE: Electric and ICE forever together?

This arguing back and forth is just silly.
It's a fairly new technology. Of course there are people who are for it and against it. Just like in the early days of ICE vehicles, household electricity, televisions, cell phones, home computers, etc.
Government mandates are to try to convince the auto companies to make strides in alternative fuel vehicles. It's working. Even just five years ago, there were very few options. Now there are that more choices and more coming every year.
There will be early adopters. The technology will see improvements, and maybe some new directions. Then the masses will start accepting it.
And then there are those few who won't embrace it until the very end because: 1) they can't handle change, 2) they cannot accept that there are other ways of doing things, and/or 3) they can't accept they were wrong,
There are plenty of sheeple in the world to be led down the garden path.
Plenty of us want to walk our own path. Forcing things on us is not the right direction.

RE: 5% tipping point

Congratulations to every American for helping 5% of the population to purchase EV's whether we wanted to or not. I get to buy my own car and help someone else buy theirs too! And feel good that we were contributing to the silver bullet to save the planet - but - eventually distilled down to simply fun to drive. Oh well..But we did find some new and inventive ways to ruin the planet and make a few fellas the richest men in the world in the process.
I get it, this post won't last long, not sheeple enough. But I enjoy seeing the truth spelled out even if it's short lived.
I'm with 'ya!

RE: Can the grid keep up with EV use?

This thread lasted a lot longer than I thought it would.
Let's stop the third grade nae calling or it will end.
If you want an EV, go buy one. If you want gas or diesel, go buy one.
The ban on IC engines is a long way down the road. I won't have to deal with it.
I don't hate EV's I just don't want one.
X100 I don't see the point of the discussion. You have a few who like electric, some who bash it, some who don't give a s***. Nobody on this RV forum can say with any amount of certainty what the future holds.

RE: EV alternative for light/medium duty trucks

An Exxon study done in 1982 focused on global warming by Increasing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. Remarkably, thirty-seven years ago Exxon accurately predicted that by 2019, the earth would hit a carbon dioxide concentration of 415 ppm and a temperature increase of almost 1°C (Figure 1).
https://www.forbes.com/sites/ianpalmer/2023/01/17/a-fresh-reading-of-exxons-predictions-of-global-warming-and-climate-change-from-40-years-ago/
and yet Exxon just completed a $2B expansion to an oil refinery in Texas after being told by our leaders to increase production, even though said leaders want to shut down their industry. :h

RE: EV alternative for light/medium duty trucks

LOL,thanks but I can't afford to live in the PNW! Interesting and sad that you think you are able guess my politics by my posts about climate change. Maybe ask yourself why one of our political parties became anti-science.:h
Perhaps because science is so institutionalized that it has become $cience and some people recognize that. Imagine a scientist having a differing opinion about something without consequences. Also, “science” has been completely wrong plenty of times.
I can remember back in the 70's being told we need to get ready for the next "ice age" :R

RE: EV alternative for light/medium duty trucks

That's OK, just read that Montana plans to BAN EV sales by 2035
Interesting. The choice of gas cars will be getting pretty slim by then. 3/4 and 1 ton trucks (and bigger) are not affected by any sales restriction so people will still be able to buy those. That and Toyotas I suppose, and Mazda if they are still around.
If they don’t install charging infrastructure tourism will be limited from outside the state. In 2035 gas stations will still be common thru out North America but they will be on the decline. So when people from there leave the state fueling will slowly become more of an issue.
It will be kinda cool though. Visiting there in 30 years will be like going to Cuba and seeing all the cool old cars. Nice. :)
Even after 2035, you'll still be able to buy gas cars from other states and register them in Cali. I should have added that Cali is the only state all in on 2035.

RE: EV alternative for light/medium duty trucks

If we can now ration electricity use by type (i.e. “wasteful”), we can also eliminate pools, hot tubs, saunas, nightlights, more than one clock, supplemental electric heaters (including block heaters), more than one refrigerator, electric garage door openers, etc., etc., etc. Until then, bitcoin has the same rights as EV owners. Then on top of that, they talk about banning gas stoves.
Welcome to Socialism!

What about the billions of subsidies to the oil companies?
What about Exxon (and likely others) knowing in the 1970-80ties about global climate change? All the while spending money to cast doubt on their own results?
and yet Exxon just completed a $2B expansion to an oil refinery in Texas after being told by our leaders to increase production, even though said leaders want to shutdown their industry. :h

We still tent also and hope to still be able to when we're 72. :)

Shade tree mechanic here. Like it's been said, "follow the manufacturer instructions" because it's not a requirement for all. I just did the front brakes on my 2500hd using ACDelco Gold Enhanced Performance Severe Duty Rotors and no where does it say anything about a "bedding" procedure, just pump the pedal to push the caliper piston against the pads.

RE: Dino juice v Electrons....

Lots of things are missing, cost of electricity only being one of many. If the gov has to mandate them for We the People to buy them there must be a problem. If they were affordable, dependable, and capable - they would sell themselves. We the People aren’t stupid, we’re realists.
Yep, the gov could not even commit to all ev for the postal service, it started at 10% for all new vehicles and then got shamed into going 40%.

That's great! Leaves more fossil fuels for Bezos's mega yacht and bazillionaire lifestyle. This is the problem I have with this whole "ram the EV's down our throat" "new green deal" movement. Until I see them (meaning the powers that be) practicing what they preach, I'm not playing. Not to be outdone, John Kerry is probably taking his private jet as we speak to go and order a bigger yacht.

RE: Fender flares for 2014-2018 Silverado

Instead of asking for help with fender flares on a RV tow vehicle forum, why not go to one of many actual truck forums where you will probably get answers to your questions...or make a few phone calls to some of the sellers of said fender flares, geez :R
Because this is a TOW VEHICLE forum, and people here accessorize their tow vehicles. I'm asking about an accessory for one of my tow vehicles to make it look better, but as per usual, everyone is hung up in the "why."
I was hoping it might be a refreshing change from the typical Ford vs. Chevy vs. Dodge, Gas vs. Diesel, my 1/2 ton will tow a space shuttle vs. you need a 1 ton dually to tow a roller skate arguments. Oh and the 768 page discussions about how electric will never be any good.
The "actual truck forums" were much worse.
Vendors sell thousands of products. You can't expect a phone operator working for minimum wage to know every detail about everything they sell. Everything the vendor knows about the product is on the website. Besides, they're not going to tell you that anything they sell is poor quality, difficult to install, or won't meet your needs. It's called real world experience.
So, thanks for well, nothing, everyone. Back to your regularly scheduled program.
It's probably just me, but the snarky responses don't help.

RE: Fender flares for 2014-2018 Silverado

Grit, old buddy old pal,
This isn't my first rodeo. You can grind and sand and wire wheel and paint all you want but you are only covering up the OUTSIDE.
You can't get to the INSIDE, which is where it's rusting from, without cutting out the old metal.
Once the paint is blistering on the outside, it's rusting through from the inside.
...and that's EXACTLY what I want, someone to say, "Hey this Brand X are easy to install and they cover up 2.5" from the edge of the wheel well opening." Even someone to say, "Hey, this brand X is easy to install and are a great value for the price." You don't need to know how much I want to repair.
For such a smart guy you are having a tough time wrapping your head around such a simple question.
