RE: Traveling in Winter

Watch the weather reports and don’t dewinterize until you are sure temps will stay above 30F. Enjoy!

RE: Narrowing in on Trailer Selection (need help)

An issue with the 2306BHS is a cargo limit of 1,500 pounds. That’s not enough for me. Loaded it is too close to max.

RE: Narrowing in on Trailer Selection (need help)

1. Folks on my Ranger 5G forum suggest staying at under 5000 lbs. This looks to be 4500. Do you think it is too heavy and too long for us to be looking at? Yes to weight and no to length. You’ll add 1,200 pounds of water, propane, batteries and stuff plus a WD hitch. That totals to almost 6,000 pounds. Your wheelbase isn’t good. Big difference between my Tahoe and current Silverado. Your payload numbers are ok? Hitch weight alone will be 800 or so pounds. 2. One of the reasons we decided to concentrate on a BH model is that we would hope to place our bikes in the BH space. Currently we have no idea if the is possible. We don't know the dimensions of the hatch. One is a trek e-bike the other is a trek mountain bike. We thought it would provide good storage in transit and at the camp sites at night? I haven't seem any one discussing doing this with bikes. I would like so feedback from users that have attempted to do what we are thinking. After removing the bikes’ front wheels, they should fit. Consider also removing one pedal. PS...I’m very happy with my Winnie 2101DS.

RE: Solar Panels- Another Step Toward Independence

You’ll enjoy solar but tire of titling panels. Looks like a quality installation. Use adequately sized wire as determined by a good chart. I use WindyNation’s at: https://www.windynation.com/jzv/inf/choosing-right-wire-size

RE: Fuelly mileage of the big three diesels

So if you found two comparable trucks both of which could safely tow your trailer but one of which had 15%-20% better mileage you’d still not care about MPG?

RE: One night stays and black/grey tanks

I’m of a whole different mindset regarding water use if I’m staying one night in a camp with a dump and fresh water than I am when I find a beautiful dry sight and want to stay awhile, and whenever possible I fill the black tank before dumping. That’s “clean enough” for me.

RE: Fuelly mileage of the big three diesels

It was my impression, smarty, that OP was displaying non-towing, no significant load mileage numbers so the comparisons do not have anything to do with safe towing or overloading.

RE: One night stays and black/grey tanks

I’m a dry camper/boondocker.and dump and fill at every opportunity.

RE: Solar suitcase problem

I’m a WindyNation fan. I have two of their controllers. A thirty amp MPPT and a weatherproof ten amp that is used with a 30 watt panel ...placed on top of my RV cover when in storage. https://www.windynation.com/charge-controllers

RE: 2003 Minnie Winnie

Weigh everything you remove. If not sufficient you’ll need careful bracing.
