RE: Do you unhook for the night?

Yes, I wish I could access our bed and salon without slides. No problem with bathroom. But everything else requires a slide.

Do you unhook for the night?

I’m curious, When you stop for the night at Walmart, Park etc do you unhook? With my fifth wheel I have to open a small bedroom slide with the dresser and a large slide with the kitchen table and theater seating. Both on the park side of the Coach. What do you guys do? Do you stay hitched and deploy the jacks?

RE: first trip with new rigg

That 9.9 is terrific MPG. What are you pulling and great news on a good trip… That’s always good news.

RE: Curiosity of RV Park parking?

“I’m never going to that park, with trucks all over the place!” Funny and you’re right of course! Who’d of ever thought of pulling a fifth wheel with a truck? :) I was just surprised how many hung over the road. The sites at Valley River RV Resort in Murphy, NC are narrow the way it is. They have great management and really take care off the place though.

RE: Curiosity of RV Park parking?

Hi guys, I thought about the hookups etc but didn’t consider the sprinkle system or killing the grass. I was in the office the other day where a guy was complaining that two trucks on two different sites had to move so he could make the curve with his 40’ motorhome. Plus it makes the park look junky. Great park but I don’t know about all these trucks hang out over the park road.

Curiosity of RV Park parking?

Hi guys, I’m here at a very nice RV park in the mountains of NC. I’ve been surprised at the number of trucks over parked EVERYWHERE! Many sites the trucks are hanging over the road a little. Some are even parked horizontally across the front of the site. It looks like this could be solved by the fifth wheel hanging over the grass a little instead of 100% over the concrete pad. Not the wheels of course, just maybe 4 to 5 feet of the body. Is there a reason why a fifth wheel should not hang over grass?

RE: What is J-Wrap?

Hi Doug, I’m not sure I understand your post? Is it you’re not happy that I’m happy. Or you’re not happy because I’m happy because many others aren’t? I’ve gone through a bunch of stuff to get to a point of feeling good about my coach's future. Unless the folks told me bare faced lies, my coach is being fixed and are putting beefier metal on all their coaches. I believe the builder is doing everything they can to deliver me “as close to perfect coach” they can. They’ve not given me a run-around and have answered all of my questions? If they didn’t know or weren’t sure, they told me that. And then got back to me when they said they would with an answer. I don’t know how to ask a company to do anymore!

RE: What is J-Wrap?

Ok we’re getting there. I spoke with the senior tech who inspected my coach. He told me there is NOTHING wrong with the Coach structure and there are NO safety issues. The J-wrap problem was due to the medal supporting the the J-Wrap was too thin allowing flexing when the Coach was sitting uneven. It should not have happened and is being reinforced so it never happens again. They also took all basement doors off the Coach and reinforced their frames with a stronger metal. They guarantee it for the life of the Coach in writing! Can’t get much better than that. They will also perform a full PDI and will bring an independent inspector when their PDI is completed. I’m going on five (5) months without my coach but it sounds like once I get it it should be 100%! It’s been a “Long and Winding Road” (hey there may be a song in there somewhere?) Everything looks like it’s coming to a positive end.

RE: What is J-Wrap?

The Coach builder has had my coach since last week. I believe they will take a look at my coach this week. My hope is they will tell me honestly what caused the problem with 36’ of J-wrap on both sides of the Coach? I’ll let you know when I do!

RE: What is J-Wrap?

Hi Ford truck guy, You guys knew what happened and what was being done to fix it. My concern is no one seems to know anything! The Coach builder should have it by the end of the week and I hope to know then what happened?

RE: Do you own the New River Ranch by Columbus?

So what do you think cj99, is it a keeper? After 10 months you should have worked the kinks out of it for sure. Do you have the 390 or 392 and any major issues? Do you have central air or three roof units? What are three things you like about it and and three things you don’t? Sorry for so many questions but you’re the first person I know that has a River Ranch and has been using it awhile. Thanks so much and look forward to your reply.

RE: What is J-Wrap?

My thoughts exactly Doug, The pictures taken by the driver who delivered Coach - no problem. A professional Inspector, Salesmen and I went over Coach - no problem. Six (6) days after the above inspection, serious J-Wrap damage on both sides - Big Problem! No one seems to know what happened (manufacturer will have Coach by end of week) but everyone knows something has! Are there serious safety concerns? Has something happened that will change its resale value? This is a coach I’ve spent 7 hours in and around during professional PDI and it has never left the dealer. Maybe I’m most concerned because NO ONE has any idea? It scars the heck out of me that I spent good money for something that may have a serious problem. I can only hope I’m told the truth???

RE: What is J-Wrap?

Yes sir Doug, I think you got that exactly right! BTW Forest River picked up my coach this morning. Yippee!!! I hope they will tell me what happened with the J-Wrap? And I’ve already told them I’m concerned from the safety aspect. Somehow enough stress was put on the coach to have caused that problem. That’s one reason I want to know the cause because that will speak to other problems.

RE: What is J-Wrap?

The J-Wrap is under the basement doors and Columbus told me the J-Wrap runs front to back without a seam. Maybe I misunderstood them! But my question is “How does J-Wrap go from good to bad in 6 days? Seems to me it somehow had to be stressed but am unsure what that would be?

RE: What is J-Wrap?

Hi guys and thanks for your response. Doug, do you have any idea of what the dealer could have done to cause this problem on both sides of the Coach. The J-Wrap was fine when I was there for the PDI. Five days later the J-Wrap was so bad that the dealer service tech said he could see it all the way across the service center. I was told the J-Wrap on both sides runs the entire length of the Coach. That’s isn’t true? There are certainly no seams shown!.

RE: What is J-Wrap?

I’m happy to say the manufacturer is taking the Coach back for them to fix. I told them I had no confidence in the dealer after all this time. Now I think I’ll get things done!

RE: Do you own the New River Ranch by Columbus?

My coach came in December but due to PDI problems I don’t have it yet.

Do you own the New River Ranch by Columbus?

I’d like to communicate with River Ranch owners about your Coach? River Ranch is now in its 2nd full year of production. And as an owner myself, would love to compare notes with other owners. I was hoping Forest River, the parent company, would have an owners forum? Thank you one and all.
