RE: Neighborhood bear-UPDATE AT END

Note that the common "black bear" can be black, brown, or even blonde colored. Blacks of any color typically avoid confrontations when possible, and are generally the least aggressive to humans of the various bear species. They still command serious respect though... Last year, i saw a cinnamon color Black Bear here in the mountains of southwest Oregon.

RE: A Christmas in Himmelkron

Thank You for sharing this beautiful memory you & your beloved family have in your life, brother Lonnie. There are still many good folks around the world. We greatly enjoyed spending three years in the Army near Mannheim, Germany at Ben Franklin Village/Coleman Barracks. We made many life long friends living the life of an Army brat living at different Army Forts...:) Merry Christmas to All & i wish All much good health this coming year.

RE: My daily trip to Walmart

The Super Walmart in our town, Grants Pass, Oregon, you can shop your groceries online. I shop my groceries i want, online. Then i go to checkout. I give a code. They give me a $10 discount each time. They give me a total amount for my groceries. I pick out a day & time i want to pickup my groceries. I park in special parking spaces at the store. My personal shopper brings my groceries out & loads them into the jeep. I don't even have to get out of my jeep. This all makes shopping very simple...:B The best thing since 'sliced bread' I'm a Happy Shopper...:B:B

We are fortunate. We live on the side of our beautiful, forested mountain. It's peaceful & quiet...except for the forest critters & birds talking...:)

I am so very sorry for your loss, my friend. I'm praying for you & your loved ones from high here on the mountain. My beloved wife passed on March 3, 2006 from brain cancer. She tried to fight it, but she couldn't beat it. Cancer is a terribile, vile thing. Take good care of yourself.

RE: Start/stop technology

With carbureted engines, starting does use more fuel than idling for a short period of time. With fuel injection, starting wastes basically no fuel; the break even point is something like a second or two, I think, though I don't know exactly. OK, thanks! I stand corrected - clearly I am harking back to the days of the big-block V-8's.....sigh :-) Reminds me of my 1962 Chevrolet Impala with the 409 engine. She had two four-barrel carburetors.....:B I'm glad gas was cheap.
