UPDATE!!
Great news for us! The DMV scales were incorrect.
Went to CAT scale and the total truck and trailer weighed 17100.
Steer Axle 3920
Drive Axle 4480
Trailer Axle 8700
Truck weighed 7320 alone
Trailer weighs 9780 so we are under the 9905 max weight. Nothing left to put in it but clothing & food so we should be good once actually loaded.
Heading to DMV on Tuesday so hopefully our CAT certificates will be accepted. Not taking the trailer again so the which scale is correct debate can't begin.

Nope nothing more to the story. Brand new travel trailer purchased in PA with PA temp tags from a well known dealer. We live just over the line in DE and you have to take your trailer through inspection and get it passed (it did pass) then you can go in and register it, pay the taxes and get the title. They are refusing to title because of the weight. If we lived in PA, none of this would have been an issue.
If the CAT scale on Saturday morning states the DMV scale was correct it will definately be a dealer and manufacturer problem. Although they already told us we had to call the dealer but we haven't actually made much stink about it yet.
I don't actually think we have 900lbs of stuff in there that can be removed to get below the limit to pass even if we remove the propane tanks.
Aren't these items included in the dry weight? One aircon, batteries. Propane, awning, stabilizers? We did have the dealer put in the extra air conditioner and they of course didn't mention anything about the added weight and we didn't even consider it. The same trailer from other dealers had the 2nd air in them already.

A question: Did you get the smooth-sided fiberglass siding option? That option on a camper that long can be 300 to 400# more weight.
Yes, it is the smooth fiberglass. The only larger thing I know that was added after manufacture was a rear air conditioner. We added 3 TV's, a few decorations, bedding, small dog crates, beach chairs & umbrella, lightweight mat, hoses, sewer hoses, blocks, laundry rack, a case of water and that is about it. The electric cord which feels like it weighs 30lbs was not even in it at the time of weighing.
Wishing we went through inspection earlier for sure before adding anything at all. Didn't see this coming and it was in the shop getting all the tv cables reran when the temp tags expired. All the ends of them were crimped too short and no connections for any of the tvs worked.

I'll have to check the stickers when I go over there. I know the one plate says 9905 which matches the Certificate of Origin.

Thanks! Heading to a CAT scale on Saturday. Everyone I talk to from the dealer to the DMV say they have never seen this happen before. IDK .... weird for sure.

I'd empty it and take it to another set of scales to verify dry sticker. What's your tow rig gross combined weight rating?
We are towing with a Chevy 2500HD - so plenty of towing capacity - 17,000+

MGVWR on sticker 9905
Weight on DMV scale - 10,851
There is no way our beach chairs, mat, sewer stuff, hoses, and random household supplies put it at that weight.
We are thinking bad scale or Forest River stated weight is just wrong. Just have no idea how to fix it. The DMV guy is calling the state headquarters today but says there is nothing he can do. I'll call the dealer today.
Frustration is we are supposed to leave on 6/1 for two weeks so have little time to get this worked out and really don't know how that even gets done.

MGVWR and problems titling trailer
Hello!
We just took our trailer through local Delaware inspection and the trailer weight is 10,851 lbs. The MGVWR is 9905 and they are refusing to title it because the weights don't match. The trailer was purchased in PA.
Brand new just purchased and we did not stick 2200 lbs worth of stuff in it. A few TV's and some beach chairs and regular trailer stuff but certainly not much of anything. Tanks are empty. Their scale could be off but they wouldn't even consider that.
Anyone ever face this problem?? We have no idea what to do. The current tags expired from PA while the trailer was in getting some service done.

Hot water heater question .....
So I got my fridge question answered and now on to the hot water heater. Our trailer was advertised with a gas only hot water heater. Upon investigation it has a breaker in the back and a plug under the sink labeled for the hot water heater and the heater model is also gas/electric. The switch inside the camper only controls the gas.
Any reason why they would set it up as just gas and not electric?? Would there be any reason we couldn't still just put a switch under the sink for that plug and use it as electric when plugged in?
Just seems so weird they didn't put in an electric switch next to the gas one like the old days.

Refrigerator Question
So we just purchased a Wildwood that has a 12 volt fridge previously we only had gas/electric small one.
My question is the book says don't travel with food in it. Really?? This can't be what everyone does.
How do you travel with the fridge running without the risk of draining the truck battery at meal stops? We do have a small solar system that came with the trailer but that is all new to us too.
Thanks for any info! Been watching some videos but now I just more confused than before as to what is the best way to do it. Our trailer will be unplugged the entire night before we leave an I'm afraid to put any food in it!

Reading on all this hitch talk trying to figure out what we should purchase. For 14 years we towed a 32' Sunny Brook using a Hensley. Like dummies we sold the whole thing as one unit.
Here we are two years later missing camping and starting all over again. We will have a Chevy 2500 and possibly a Forest River Wildwood 31KQBTS rolling in at a total of 36'7" - weight at 8573.
Not as heavy as our previous trailer but 3' longer.
Been out of the game for a long while and not sure whether to dump the money on a ProPride or if other hitches have come along way since 2006 and something else would be just as good.
Any suggestions??

No problems running it with the air conditioner on? I want to get an air fryer oven but don't want to have to turn off the air every time I want to cook something.
In our old trailer we couldn't even run the microwave with the air conditioner compressor running.

Can the front seats in the Four Winds be used while parked? If not, consider something else.
We are stuck at 31'is because the driveway is a hill. We have to put rollers on the back even at that size so can't go any bigger without worry of lifting the reel wheels.
The Thor front seats do not swivel which is actually the push towards the class A for more comfortable seating. Not having any luck finding much else with bunks. They are rated at 250lbs and while my kids are tall they are still thin enough that isn't an issue for now. Our max budget is about $110,000ish.

New Class C vs Used Class A
Hi all! We sold our truck and 2007 Sunnybrook Sunset Creek trailer a couple years ago because our kids had grown and we thought we were done with camping and now we just really miss it! So we are shopping for a new set up.
Without a truck to tow and long commutes to work, we are looking at a motorhome and looking for advice. We want to be able to still invite our grown kids to go with us when they can so we have narrowed it down to these two at the moment.
First is a Class C new 2023 Thor Four Winds 31H - all the nice new stuff that goes with it.
The second is a used 2020 Winnebago Vista 31BE with just under 13,000 miles on it.
The price of the two are comparable. Inside there are pros and cons to both.
Would you go New Class C or used Class A???
