Heading to Mt. Rushmore

Heading out for Mt. Rushmore with DW and two beautiful granddaughters on June 5th. Don't want to make reservations because we prefer not to be held to a specific schedule. Is this a big mistake? Would appreciate recommendations for camping spots in the Rushmore area. Our granddaughters are 13 and 9 and both have camped since infants and love it, and like most kids I know, love to swim.

RE: Bees in my 5th Wheel

If they're truly bees, find a bee keeper in your area. They'll come relocate the swarm for you and keep the bees alive. If they're wasps - prosecute with extreme prejudice! If they are honey bees, please do not harm them, call a professional bee keeper.

RE: RV Pole Barn

I built my shed primarily to house my motorhome but also wanted it to serve as a workshop. Mine is 30' x 50' with 14' sidewalls, insulated but not heated,, the door is a 14' x 12' roll-up and I had the drive poured 16' wide. I have full hook-up so I can thoroughly clean the holding tanks when we return from a trip and we also use the motorhome as an extra bedroom when needed. The one thing I had to change after the build was completed, I had to upgrade the electric hook-up from 30amp to 50amp. I would suggest going with 50amp initially and use a pigtail if you only need 30amp. Other than that MINOR problem I have been extremely pleased with my building. Would like to add a picture but don't know how, sorry.https://i.imgur.com/hPsTVx5l.jpg

Emergency Flashers Hyper-flashing

My 2004 Coachmen Sportscoach emergency flashers are hyper flashing. I think I may need to replace the flasher relay but I can't find it. I've looked through all the paperwork that came with the (used) coach and haven't been able to find an answer. Google was no help at all. Any suggestions?

Replacing convection/microwave oven

My Dometic DOTRC11B convection/microwave will not microwave anymore so I'm looking to replace it. My current installation has the oven installed over the gas cooktop with it's back flush against the wall. I have not been able to locate this particular model, guess DOMETIC doesn"t make it anymore. My current unit measures 30" wide 17" tall and 16" deep. Any recommendations?

RE: Replacing House Batteries.

Okay folks, thanks for all the feedback, I really appreciate it and don't feel like as much of a dummy as I was when I made the OP. I have decided to go with two 12v (connected in parallel)from Autozone H8-AGM. A little more than I wanted to spend but I like the reviews I read and the 3 year warranty is also a plus. Thanks again for all your input.

RE: Replacing House Batteries.

Because they are maintenance-free, am I showing my ignorance here? Maybe there are other maintenance-free batteries that I don't know about. Yes. ANY AGM battery is essentially maintenance free (sealed). A "deep cycle" AGM weighs a TON and costs a lot too. But that's what I got last year. When you have an "old" RV, it seems like SOMETHING goes bad every year. I don't want to have to worry about the batteries for a while. P.S. Are you sure that you really NEED that much capacity ?? I may not need that much capacity since we never boondock, just occasionally stop overnight in a rest area while traveling. Do you think I could go with just two batteries?

RE: Replacing House Batteries.

Yes, Lifeline AGM. Replaced my Lifeline AGM last year after 8 years of trouble free, maintenance free service. When I went to the AGM I did away with the potential connection problems of multiple batteries. Put the biggest single battery in the space available which was a 4D case size. About 215ah. Wish I could get an 8D in there. Too big. Again, showing my ignorance, what does AGM stand for?

Replacing House Batteries.

I need to replace my house batteries in my 2004 Coachmen Sportscoach. I currently have four 6 volt deep cycle golf cart batteries installed, two 6 volts hooked in series to create 12 volts then the two 12 volts pairs hooked in parallel. I'm thinking I would like to install the optima maintenance-free batteries but I can't figure out which battery I need to order or how many I need. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

RE: No Overnight Parking at Interstate Rest Areas

Everybody should stop a W-Mart for a few hrs, I think that is what they say it, just a few hrs. rest. I call it just cheap. I call it stupid to pay for a campsite, when you only want to park. I call it inconsiderate to pull into a campground in the middle of the night, and to pull out at the crack of dawn. AMEN!!!

RE: When to quit.

I just turned 74 and have no plans to quit RVing any time soon. Sure I have slowed down the last few years but even though it takes me a little longer to setup and breakdown I'm still able to eventually get the job done. I feel that the benefits of RVing make it worth a little bit of effort.

RE: snowbirding in texas

What about Garner State Park We haven't been there but plan on going this spring. They suggest reservations in the summer. We are also going to Big Bend National Park and plan to spend a couple of weeks there. Two weeks in Big Bend is an ETERNITY.
