RE: Coachman Catalinas

We have a Catalina, 25RKS for 4 years now. We have not had any major issues (knock on wood). We like to travel so the floor plan works real good for us. It pulls very well behind the truck - highly recommended.

RE: Slide - In or Out

hondapro stated "Unless there is a chance of getting snow or ice build up on them". I agree with hondapro but----- I had noticed that a local RV dealer this past winter had kept most of the trailer slides open during the winter with a build up of snow on each one. I might just stop in one day and ask "why?"

RE: Canada border crossing

Having just returned to Canada as of Sat. April 4 the border is open to Canadian residents, you must self isolate for 14 days and provide your contact info for health authorities to follow up with you. Now the Yukon Gov't has just posted that they are stopping visitors to the Yukon BUT residents of Alaska will be able to pass through and have 24 hours to get to Alaska. The best thing to do is call the border entry point you will be using to cross into Canada and ask your question as you are going home. Safe travels!!

RE: Hitch set up

Put all your gear in and if you still have doubts, take it back to the dealer and have them look it over and adjust it.

RE: Showing Off Our Travels

We use a piece of Plexiglas and Velcro it to our trailer door, we add the stickers and travel place map and it came with us when we traded in our last trailer.

RE: Crossing into Canada from Maine

Crossing into Canada is not normally an issue, a passport, documentations for any pets and just leave the guns at home, you don't need them.

RE: Just sold the hybrid after 10 years.

Sold our Jayco Hybrid after 7 or 8 years, lots of fun times but same as others, wanted a bedroom and bigger bathroom (ok DW wanted the bigger bathroom)

RE: Sheets for non-standard beds.

We use regular sheets but attach suspenders (for pants) underneath and they keep the sheets pretty good. The suspenders are shortened up as much as possible then attached to the sheet corners thus keeping them in place.

RE: Wish us luck, pray for the marriage

A couple of years ago my wife and I did a 25 day trip to the Yukon in a 17 foot Hybrid. We really enjoyed the trip and survived each other:) I was keeping a list "Of things I learned" on this trip and DW added a larger trailer to the list. So that was my cue:) We bought a 25 foot TT. Love it!!!!

RE: Tailgate Step Suggestions?

In the past I carried a small 3 step ladder in the back of the truck. It was light, and handy to access the truck bed. Now I have a newer GMC with the built in step in the bumper, it makes life even easier.

RE: Do you think a front cargo rack is too dangerous?

When in doubt have a "qualified" expert look at it for proper safety and structure requirements.

RE: Trouble with California

I wonder if I would be arrested and deported for that. We got searched once at the international border, cost us a tomato. Same here :)

Trip planner map

Is there a way to print the actual map portion on the trip planner program as well as the written direction?

RE: Health insurance.

We use SnowbirdAdvisor Insurance, their insurance carrier is thru Manulife and they cover pre-existing conditions and cover up to 10 million $. We have used them for a couple of years now, we can still travel even with DW medical issues. Web search Snowbird Advisor for free quotes etc.

RE: Sights along Lake Superior

The scenery north of the Soo is the best anywhere, Lake Superior provincial Park has a few nice spots to check out, Old Woman Bay, Pictographs. Whiteriver is home of Winnie the Poo bear with a nice little park, we stop to eat lunch there! Ouimet Canyon is very cool but if you are towing you have to leave the trailer etc in a separate parking lot - tight corners and a small parking lot at the canyon. Terry Fox Monument is a must as is Kakabeka Falls about 15 Km west of Thunder Bay. Rossport is a nice scenic area as well. Camping though - many campgrounds are closed or closing middle to the end of September, best to check the web sites for dates.

RE: Weight distribution hitch removal and storage

Nice, what a great idea. It's not just the grease but the weight to carry it - Backs will thank you!!

RE: Month long stays w/o the rv

Try VRBO (Vacation Rentals By Owner) or similar site. they have all locations and price ranges. We go to Scottsdale for the month of April staying in a condo rental, great city, great weather and reasonable price. Start looking now as short stays are harder to find, most rentals want 3 month stays. Good luck and have fun!!
