RE: Running a/c off generator while towing

:) Hi, I have my generator mounted in the bed of my truck, by the tailgate. I installed a generator inlet on the front of my trailer just for that purpose. This is so I can cool my trailer at rest stops, at boondocking sites, power outages in camp grounds, and to cool my trailer before I get to a camp ground in hot weather.

RE: No headlights problem please help

Jay, You don't say what the chassis but most have the headlights on a separate fuse that is in the fuse group. Now you just have to find it and hope it is bad and that is all that is wrong. Matt Headlights are NOT fused. The lead for the headlight switch comes straight from battery power. The headlight switch does have a circuit breaker built in. The headlight switch does have separate circuitry for the headlights and the parking/running lights. So the switch may be bad, even if the running/dash lights work. You need to get out your VOM and check for voltage all along the wiring path for the headlights. Richard :) Hi, this is the correct answer; Also when you remove the headlight switch, look for a melted connector.

RE: Keyboard Problems?

:) Hi, if it's wireless like mine, change the batteries. I guess we should have asked you if it's a desk top or a lap top.

RE: Brake lights don't work

:) Hi, it might be the turn signal switch. If using the same bulbs for stop and turn, as most vehicles do, I would check the turn signal switch. The turn signal switch cancels the brake lights so you can have a turn signal on while braking. Some early GM vehicles had a problem with the hazard switch not returning all of the way and preventing the brake lights from working. Either case would need a turn signal switch replacement. (now days, sometimes called a multifunction switch)

RE: Setting up your house to run off your RV generator?

How long will the gen power your house before refil needed and a trip to an electric powered gas pump??? Just curious. :) Hi, my Yamaha will run my house for about eight hours per tank and it holds a 1.59 gallons of gas. I have about ten extra gallons of gas for it. Our longest power outage so far was for 3 1/2 days.

RE: Impact of fuel prices on travel

:) Hi, gas prices are going up fast, but when we are ready to go, we will go. We have been on four cruise ship cruises, actually one of them was a river cruise. Any gas trip will be a lot less cost to us than a cruise.

RE: Setting up your house to run off your RV generator?

:) Hi, I have a manual 6 circuit transfer switch in my garage. I have an RV inlet box outside of my garage, by my trailer. And I use my Yamaha 2400 portable generator to power my house. This is enough to power two refrigerators, my garage door opener, wall sockets for my TV and computer, gas fireplace, and all ceiling lights. Works great for me; We get too many power outages in my neighborhood.

RE: Missing catalytic converter

:) Hi, every time that something happens in a storage lot, I hear that the security system didn't, or wasn't working. For that reason, I think they should at least pay your deductible.

RE: Membership info

:) Hi, I also got several E-mails for Good Sam renewal. So, fine, I will renew my membership. As I went to renew my membership, I was asked to sign in. I tried to sign in, but I guess that I wasn't registered, so it didn't work. So now I register and sign in. (I just wanted to pay my bill and move on) Next, I had to fill in all of the information squares. I didn't want all of this; I just wanted to pay the fee and be done with it. Finally, after submitting all of my information and credit card information. And agreeing to all of the terms, I clicked to submit all of this only to have a page pop up saying that their web site had a failure. Oh, just forget it all. For gosh sakes, I just wanted to pay for my renewal, not buy a house.

RE: When is a purchase a purchase?

:) Hi, I don't know about Florida, but in California, It is not yours until you drive it off of the lot. Meaning that you have not taken delivery. When I bought my Lincoln (used) I gave the dealer a list of things that needed attention. The salesman told me to drive it around the block and leave it in the service drive for the repairs. I told him that I would only drive it after all of the repairs were done. He so badly wanted me to drive it off of the lot, but I knew better.

RE: Windows 11

:) Hi, I just switched to Windows 11 on my desk top. I like Windows 10 better mostly because I was used to it. The main reason for me to upgrade my desk top to Windows 11 was because I ordered a new lap top that has Windows 11 on it and I want both computers to work the same. Previously, I could install my SD card and my picture down loader would pop up on the screen, now I have to hunt for it and it takes extra steps to do the same thing. So where did it help me? Same with Windows 10, my Canon printer still works, but some of the functions don't because there is no driver available.

RE: For those that like this style air compressor

:) Hi, I bought one of those Harbor Freight compressors many years ago. If you run it without being attached to a tire valve, it will blow up. Well at least mine did. I took it back as defective for a warrantee replacement and was hassled, but they finally gave me a new one. I installed a compressor blow off valve and never had a problem since.

RE: RVs over 10 years old are valueless

Every couple years our Airstream becomes a couple years newer. :) Hi, Airstreams are ageless. I have never run into this situation, but I heard that if you tell them you have an Airstream, they will let you stay. Mine is about 17 years old now.

RE: Albuquerque Balloon Festival?

:) Hi, we went several years ago with the Airstream group; It was fantastic. We would love to do it again. I believe that it was about $400.00 to $500.00 per trailer / motorhome.

RE: Renting your RV

:) Hi, one of the main reasons for buying a trailer was to have a bedroom, bathroom, kitchen, and living room that no-one else uses or has used.

RE: Oregon to charge 25% more for out of state RV campers

:) Hi, we go where we want to go and pay the price. I don't like California and Canada gas prices either, but that's not going to stop me from going there. Instead of letting the 25% charge get to you, just skip your Starbucks. :B
