RE: Rear view camera for trailer

Just finished reading all the posts here as I am considering a camera for the rear on my TT. I want something on constantly for traffic viewing as well. Obviously a wired system is more reliable and probably less expensive but I have one question...how would one go about running a wire the length of a travel trailer? I'm sure under the unit is the easiest place but how difficult would it be to get it down through the rear wall, or would you just use small wire clips and surface mount the wire down the back on the unit then seal them real well. Sorry if this is hijacking the thread. :) Hi, I ran flexible conduit under my trailer originally for my generator inlet; I ran my camera line through the same conduit.

RE: Ram and Chevy MPG Test Part 2

:) Hi, I didn't watch this video yet, but I will. I read somewhere that the Chevy gets it's best gas mileage at 48 MPH. Who drives their truck at 48 MPH?

RE: What do you folks think of aluminum sided trailers?

:) Hi, I like my aluminum sided trailer. :B

RE: Rear view camera for trailer

:) Hi, my camera came with the long extension cord. I mounted my sensor in front of my trailer for a better signal and it has not failed me. My experience could be different than yours because I have the BC-20 camera, not the BC-30. The lag that you are talking about is highly exaggerated or yours was defective. (my cell phone is marketed as a phone, but it can still be used as a camera) :S

RE: Skin Cancers

:) Hi, I might have missed it, but for me, my first basal cell showed up after my 65th birthday. The first one was on my nose and they cut a crater out of it. It was done with Mohs and they got it all the first time. The next one was on my temple and they had to do it twice. The third one was on the center of my back; Even though they removed a lot, this one also took two times to get it all. Several smaller ones were frozen. These should not be ignored.

RE: Rear view camera for trailer

Looking at rear view camera wired or wireless? Looking at a 9" or 7" screen with one camera. Any brand suggestions as well? :) Hi, I use a Garmin RV 760 GPS with a wireless back up camera for my trailer. They have newer versions now. X2I like the idea of a GPS and camera and will check them out. If you want it for backing up go the Garmin route. If you want it for observation behind your trailer while on the road don't. Garmin's setup does not have the refresh you need while moving at speed. The car you see on your trailers bumper on the monitor, may have already moved to the left and be beside your trailer at the time. :) Hi, this is not my experience. The picture is not free flowing / smooth, but very close. When I can see the entire front of the big rig in my camera, I have completely passed it.

RE: Yamaha ef2400ishc generator

Who's successfully running their 13,500 a/c units with no startup issues and if any other appliances are running at the same time This would be without the addition of a micro-air start-up kit installed :) Hi, my Yamaha 2400is ran my 11,000 BTU air conditioner, my refrigerator, my converter, and a small TV at a slightly high altitude. I recently installed a Micro-Air, but haven't used it this way yet.

RE: Rear view camera for trailer

I bought an observation camera for my fifth wheel trailer. It allows the driver to see what is happening behind them when driving as opposed to the back up camera which is only on when the vehicle is in reverse. It cost about $50 more. Furrion makes the most popular cameras, as do Voyager. :) Hi, I mounted my wireless sensor on the front of my trailer for a better signal; Because of this, it was easier to connect my camera to my Battery Tender connection at my batteries. Point being, once I plug my camera in, it is on all of the time. Not just with certain lights turned on. And because it is part of my Garmin GPS, I can toggle back and forth from map to camera as I wish.

RE: Reese Dual cam vs Equalizer

:) Hi, I towed the same trailer with the same hitch with the same tow vehicle for over ten years. And about two more years with a new tow vehicle. I have the Equal-I-zer brand hitch. (4 point) In this time I have never replaced a single part of this hitch. No problems and very easy to use. I have friends who have to Dual Cam and they work great. Not as easy as the Equal-I-zer to use. All of the Dual Cam users told me that it's a real pain to get the Cams centered correctly. And if done wrong, they break the Cam adjusters.

RE: XL vs LT tires?

LOL :S :h The OP has a 2018 F150. 3 different wheel sizes available on an 18 F150. Depending on package if it came OEM with P275-65-18 44 max psi or LT275-65-18 80 max psi they're still mounted on the same wheels. Ford is not using one wheel for this tire, and another for that tire, nor is GM, Ram, or anyone else unless you get into something special, like the Raptor. The OP has not cobbled his 2018 truck together from some pile of 1970's parts he found out behind the barn, or has he? :) Hi, just like some people think that "RV" means motorhome, others think that "LT" means 80 lbs. Please double check your information Ralph. My F-150 came with LT 275/65R18 C tires from Ford which max out at 50 lbs. cold pressure.

RE: But the salesman TOLD me it could!

:) Hi, I was looking for a new F-150 to replace my Navigator as a tow vehicle. Note: Navigator payload is 1600 lbs. and it's tow rating is 8,900 lbs. At a local Ford dealer I drove through their lot and didn't see any F-150's with towing mirrors; That was a bad sign to me. I went into their show room, took a few pictures of a nice restored Ford 9-N tractor, and got a bag of free popcorn. Salesman asked me if I was interested in buying a new vehicle or was I just there to take pictures of the tractor and eat the free popcorn. I told him that I was looking for an F-150 to tow my trailer, but I didn't see any with towing mirrors so they didn't have what I needed / wanted in stock. Salesman asked me what my trailer weighed and I told him it was 6,300 lbs. His response was that there wasn't an F-150 on the lot that couldn't tow 7,200 lbs. And my response to him was that there is no reason for me to buy a new truck that has a lower payload and tow rating than my Lincoln. I bought my truck at a different dealer.

RE: Best Class B

:) Hi, we have looked at several new Class "B" motorhomes. Prices are too high and the quality of the interiors are lacking. Although similar in size, all of the Class "B's seem tiny inside compared to our 25' travel trailer. We had thoughts of it being easier to hit the road at a moment's notice with a Class "B" but I'm not ready for a wet bath or a fold up bed.

RE: How to Spot a Lemon

:) Hi, lemons are new products that have many defects or one defect that can't be fixed. Used is used. Used trailers are not lemons, but rather, either good or junk.

RE: How cold have you experienced?

:) Hi, we went to South Dakota in October; Friends said that we were crazy to do it and they were right. It was getting colder as we went so we filled our propane tanks in Wyoming. Our camp ground had 120 spaces and we were the only ones there. We spent five days and four nights there in Zero degree temps at night with a high of 27 degrees during the day. Water heater and furnace were run 24 hours a day. One more day and we would have run out of propane. ( we have two 30 lb. or 7 1/2 gallon tanks.)

RE: Safety concerns and crash data for Class A's?

:) Hi, concerned about crash tests on a class "A" motorhome seems silly when so many of them are towing a smart car, Saturn, or any of the other little sh*t boxes of cars. This is what they drive when they get to their location. :S Ignorant comments and fear-mongering really doesn’t help anything. The ForTwo did so well in crash tests by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) that it earned their highest rating, five stars, because the car’s steel racecar-style frame and liberal use of high-tech front and side airbags :) Hi, fine, let's have a smart car and a 2000 Lincoln Navigator hit head on; Which vehicle would you rather be in. Be honest. A ForTwo has a 5 Star crash rating, the Navigator has a 4 Star crash rating. But as a pilot and engineer I can definitely say the smaller more rigid one would be far safer. Try THIS with a Navigator and see if you could walk up to it afterwards and open the door like that. :) Hi, it wouldn't matter if the doors worked or not; The video stated that all would be DEAD. :E

RE: Safety concerns and crash data for Class A's?

As the owner of a Smart for 2 I realized right off that Robert Sunrus had no idea how safe these cars are. Friends wife got rear ended in hers by a pickup while stopped behind a dump truck. Lots of air bags deployed and lots of plastic panels on the ground but she was unhurt and drove it home. Let me be clear I to was skeptical of them till I drove one. :) Hi, a real smart car owner knows that you don't spell it with a capital "S". :B
