RE: DirecTV or Dish

Well we have Dish and it is great. We're on the pay as you go plan with no contracts and their mobile app allows you to change your local channels right on the app when traveling the country. Seems like everything ATT gets into turns to **** like DirecTV

RE: 6.7 cummins HP

Yup . . . Anything with the Allison 3000 series transmission will be a better choice.

RE: engine antifreeze

Drain the overflow tub and the radiator and replace it with regular anti freeze from Walmart. Or have Walmart do it for you. Not on my worst day. You have either a Fleet Guard fully formulated which has the SCA's in it or you have an OAT coolant depending on the year of your rig. A call to Freightliner can tell you which they put in when built.

RE: Residential Refrigerator – Good or avoid?

Residential refrigerators are the best. I would never go back to a Dometic or a NoCold gas refrigerator. They work better and have less of a chance of catching fire.

There is usually a fuse right at the battery. It is like a 250a or 300a fuse. That could have popped

RE: Yellowstone Trip

We stayed at the Yellowstone West Entrance last September. You'll love it. Suggest you sign up for a Yellowstone tour and let someone else do the driving as it's a huge park. Kool . . . Last time we were there was in 1998 and drove to Old Faithful on the Harley. It got really cold and we actually were in some snow flurries then.We did not need reservations then and stayed at Fishing Bridge Campground there.

RE: Plug in truck bed or use plug in bumper for 5th wheel

Thanks so much. I think I will put one in the bed of the new truck for the brakes. Sorry about the confusion on the other post and the 110 volt plug. Just should have ask about the 12volt/brake plug. Curly No confusion Curly, We knew what you meant

RE: Plug in truck bed or use plug in bumper for 5th wheel

Isn’t the factory installed 110 plug in the cab and bed limited to 400 total watts? He's talking about the plug to connect the trailer to the truck for the trailer lights, brakes, etc.

Yellowstone Trip

Going out to Yellowstone in June. Have reservations for a week outside of west entrance. After there going to Cody out through East entrance then over to Devils Tower and then Mt. Rushmore for the 4th of July. Then going east on 90 to visit kids in Massachusetts. Best route out of Cody is supposedly Rte. 14 to 30 to 20 to 16 to 90. Anyone ever done this route and comments and suggestions appreciated. Seems the route through Yellowstone out to the East is fairly easy. We'll be in our 40' Itasca Meridian with our toad following faithfully.

RE: Fleetwood Motorhome Owners ... Help!!!

I believe in 2006 this is how they worked. To charge the chassis batteries while plugged in you need a Trikl-Start which charges the chassis batteries off the house batteries while plugged in.

RE: Blocking website -- Windows 10

It sounds like you have some malware that got on your computer and not an external web site sending you info. I could be wrong but that is what it seems

RE: Hot water tank not working on 110 VAC

The element is a big resistor that heats up. Resistors dont short they always burn open The resistance wire can short to ground. It will generally short to ground for a second then open up. he current will blow the wire open

RE: Hot water tank not working on 110 VAC

Oke Biscuit comes through again. While I don't have the camper here to look, I distinctly remember feeling resistance on the left reset button when I pressed it, but the WH still didn't work on AC. Will do voltmeter/ohmeter test once I get back to the camper, but I'm sure Ole is right, the element is either shorted or open. thanks for all the advice, especially the pix. The element is a big resistor that heats up. Resistors dont short they always burn open

RE: Hot water tank not working on 110 VAC

You can check it with an OHM meter with power off. Also if you have a volt meter you can see if you are getting 120 vac at the element terminals with power on. You will only see the voltage there if the unit is trying to make hot water. It won't be there all the time. You can get the element at home depot or lowes for less than 20 bucks.

RE: Help a Newbie, question about gas vs. diesel

One reason I would go with diesel over gas is it can be a pain in the butt getting into and out of a lot of gas stations with that big trailer behind you. Diesel . . . any Truck Stop . . . Right in and out

RE: Kwikee Electric Step Problem

I saw sellers on Amazon with those motors when I had to replace mine last week. Mine was a different style motor.

RE: Dometic Penguin II - cools, but compressor cuts on and off

Sounds like a capacitor going bad. I just had one that did the same thing. Compressor would cut off then come back on. Replaced run capn and no more issues.

RE: Winnebago vs Tiffin

Generally in the Itasca they put a better grade of materials and components in it. The Itasca will have standard things that are an option in the same model Winnebago
