Slickrock RV is older but has the best tree coverage if you're looking for shade, also fairly close to downtown. Stayed there a couple of times, once in dead summer, and the shade was very welcome. If there for OHV running, you will need to trailer to the trailheads unless you have a street licensed SxS. Dirt "pads" and gravel/dirt roads. Also stayed at Archview. You can ride OHVs direct from Archview to some trailheads. Archview is further away from town but is nice, I'd stay there again, it is newer so the trees are small, no shade. Has a community fire pit, small general store and attached fueling station. For RV parks in Moab, it kind of comes down to what you are there for with regards to convenience.

For the first time we have yet to see any Elk but the deer and wild turkey's are everywhere. Angel Fire is awesome. I live at 8000' but in CO. Nights/days have started to cool, except this weekend got warm again, and we are starting to see the elk migrate down from higher elevations. Rut season is upon us. The way you describe temps in the Angel Fire area, sounds like the elk there haven't migrated down from the high country just yet. They're probably close but guaranteed the bulls are following the cows.

I did, and got water in my eyes from the rain. Now what? I read that last night and looked up, seen the Moon, almost full. Ran up to the garage and broke out my Lunar Panels. $5 you both also had to walk 10 miles to school, in the snow, up hills to and from school. Or, you still do.

Was thinking about this thread just the other day and realizing I hadn't seen anything new. I haven't done it yet, but I'm considering a motion-activated light near the door for when we forget to leave our porch light on. It may have to be one that we remove when we are on the road. Does anyone have a good idea for this? Why not just replace the coach porch light with something like MG1000-450W, 12 Volt Exterior Motion Sensor RV LED Porch Utility Light, American Designed Bright RV Security Motion Porch Light, White while keeping the current switch. Can turn the light off as normal. Light says it can be used as both motion activated or standard porch light. Also says it wires in to the current coach wiring/battery.

RE: Using the black water tank as a second grey water tank

Could be as simple as adding a Valterra Black T58 Twist-On Waste Valve. By adding this, open both the black and gray installed gate valves, thus gray water will equalize in both tanks. No physical changes required on the existing tank plumbing.

I never noticed any issues on our 2010 Sequoia tranny hunting or struggling to keep moderate power climbing the ascents while towing our TT loaded weight at 8300 lbs (RV park stays with less loaded weight). It was the short wheel base being pushed around by the much heavier and longer trailer especially when it came to descents. Yes, I am very familiar with gearing down on descents and properly setting up our WDH but it just-didn't-help. The Sequoia platform would be perfectly suited to a GVWR trailer below 7000 lbs. The towing specs on the 2010 Sequoia is a flat out lie and that statement can be supported by comparing the 2010 model to the 2011 Sequoia. We still have our 2010 Sequoia. It wasn't cheap and it still feels like it is new but I've been pretty disappointed with some of the engineering aspects of that vehicle. For the most part, it is a very good vehicle, just falls flat in certain areas. Toyota could have done much better with regards to engineering value.

I tow double what my truck is rated to tow and I've never had a problem. I'm not advocating you should tow double your vehicle's gcvwr but certainly towing what your vehicle is rated for is not a problem. Except the 2011 and 2010 Sequoia are pretty much the same vehicle (no significant changes) and have vastly different tow capacities. How does that happen?

Interesting. So many similarities. I live in CO so I traverse passes every summer. My TT is 7100 lbs dry ( really a fictitious number) and GVWR at 9500 lbs. When I go boondocking at 9500 feet, my loaded weight is 9100 lbs. And, my TT is a 26BHS, total length point to bumper is 30.5 feet, good bit less than what you are looking at. The clincher for this story... we also have a 2010 Sequoia Ltd. That is my wife's vehicle she had to have to pull our TT. I have driven that combo of our loaded TT up and down the OR coast into northern CA, once. Since that experience, I've purchased a modern 1-ton SRW CC diesel truck and that is what tows our TT now. Granted, I also now bed load a 850 lbs ATV in my truck, pulling the TT over passes at 12k feet but the combo is a dream. Something you need to know about the Sequoia, 2010 was a stellar year for tow capacity on that chassis. Although the other responders are dead-on with paying more attention to your payload, take a look at the tow capacity for the 2011 Sequoia platform. Automagically, the tow capacity dropped by a SIGNIFICANT margin all while the 2011 Sequoia platform didn't change at all from the model year 2010. Big OOPS by Toyota. Having said all that, if you do move forward with that combo, you will know the true definition of white knuckle driving. Been there, done that! I don't believe you could find a closer comparison to what you're looking at.

HIGHLY advise getting the correct "Kelvin" or you will have that blue/white obnoxious light in your eves! 100% agree! I went with all interior light at 3200k color temp which seems very closely matched to incandescent lighting. Seemed anything above that color temp was too white/blue and starts to resemble cool white fluorescent color lighting, which I find obnoxious. But to each their own.

Can I ask a question, did you find the leds put off more heat than the standard bulbs. I actually changed all the interior lights from incandescent to LED specifically for the reason of less heat. And, it is a lot less heat running LEDs and well worth it for that reason. Aside from maybe a bit brighter light with regards to changing trailer tail lights to LEDs, I've not done it as the cost seems to outweigh the benefit. Changing running lights to LEDs, I see no reason to spend extra money there as there is no real benefit to the owner for doing it.

It may not be as cheap of an option, but I would opt for building a "roof rack" and getting some rooftop bike racks that let you leave the front wheel on. You can use some 2x4s and conduit and attatch the racks to the makeshift roof rack. Fasten/strap it to the floor and you should be golden. The potential problem with this, as the OP can attest to, is that you don't want to mount expensive bikes to roofs where they can be seen and a potential theft target. Now, if you're saying build a makeshift roof style rack that goes inside the trailer, completely different story. I've actually done that and used a PVC "2x4" fencing post with Yakima mounts on it. And that includes using a thru-axle adapter. I've got a high end Yeti full-suspension MTB, 4" fatbike, hardtail and road bike and looking to buy a dedicated downhill MTB as well (can someone say Angel Fire!!!), none of those bikes are cheap and I'd hate to get them stolen. So finding ways to mount them inside is paramount and it also keeps road grime off them as well. Surprising how easy it is to get direct mounts to something like the PVC board as when the board is wide enough, it is not going anywhere. Take some foam and place between the rear frames of the bikes in case there is any "walking". I've done this in the bed of my truck that had a canopy on it. Same could be done inside a TH although I'd probably take motorcycle straps and secure the "lot" to avoid the trailer bouncing. I did notice that this thread is a number of months older, someone may find useful info out of it.

Some good information for you so far and as first put by Grit, flip a coin if you are not certain. I know for me, my preference would be the lower price of the TT along with a comfortable and modern 1-ton diesel. Regardless of TT/Truck or Class A/Toed, I would be going diesel as it is a much more relaxing experience moving a good amount of weight navigating the mountainous west. It's not to say you need all that power and engine braking, but if you are traveling a lot, you WILL appreciate it. And with that point being diesel, you'll probably see the prices separate even further... maybe, maybe not but Class A diesel pushers do not seem to be cheap.

Dump the Ridgeline. It's unsafe in that situation and will be putting everyone and their families at risk on the road. Get a 1 ton dually with a Cummins Powertoke Max diesel, get some airbags and a Hensley. Make sure you have LT tires on the truck and trailer or better yet see if you can get some military spec bulletproof ones. Take the whole shebang over to a Cat scale and weigh it every way you can think of. 1 out of 10 for a "witty" sarcastic reply.

I'm sure the OP is adult enough to make their own decision if they want to stay at a KOA or not. No need for everyone to pile on to the KOA hate. BTW, I've stayed at plenty of private RV Parks that keep adding on the fees to where it is outrageous... that is not exclusive to KOA. Stay at a KOA, don't stay at a KOA but move on from that argument.

I don't want to be the bearer of bad news, and hopefully this isn't, but you might want to bring your Rzr in for an inspection and recall check. Over the past handful of years, Polaris has had a lot of different recalls, some being very serious and "Stop Ride" notices. I do not recall the 570 having the serious fire issues... but be safe and make sure everything is checked out first. Should also be fairly easy for you to have your exact model/VIN researched to know if there are any missing recalls. Again, sorry if this seems like I'm raining on your parade as it's not meant to, just be safe!Why would this be bad news? You bring it to a dealer, they fix it, no charge end of story. Wouldn't stop me from buying one. B.O. Well, you're right as it's a safety thing but I didn't want to come off as "raining on his/her parade". But the other thing to know is that there have been some continued issues with Polaris finding an acceptable fix for the overheating problems which has resulted in very lengthy "Stop Ride" notices. A friend has had that with his Rzr 900.
