RE: Recent cost to re-seal your roof by an RV tech/shop?

I wonder what that $6000 would translate into in our "new" economy, 2 years later? We have a 35' fifth wheel and we just contacted them - RV Armor. They quoted $189 a linear foot, tear off of existing rubber roof is extra as is removing the AC. If you watch a video, their material bonds to the existing roof so tear off is not necessary.

RE: Trailersavor vs Anderson Ultimate

We've never had any other FW hitch but the TrailerSaver BD3. We went from a travel trailer using the Hensley Arrow to the FW using the Hensley TrailerSaver.

RE: Trailersavor vs Anderson Ultimate

I'm neither for nor against the Anderson, but my curiosity was peeked with the many comments on it so I googled "Anderson hitch fifth wheel failures" - here is what came up: Article on worst hitch Anderson hitch failures Anderson hitch problems Anderson Hitch Failure Hitch Review Chevy forum on hitch failures GrandRV Hitch Failure post *Note - I have not read any of these. There very well may be positive comments embedded in the articles. Again, I'm not looking to bash any hitch, just was curious on what is reported out there. And the broken record continues ,yet no one adds that they redesigned that hitch , now go find find a failure on the redesign . If you do read what you posted here , it does show the redesigned hitch in one of those links . Thanks for reading.

Lets see now you posted 7-8 clickies about Andersen hitch failures and didn't read any of them to see if they were factual or just a opinion.....and your not Andersen bashing....:R No. I'm not.

RE: Trailersavor vs Anderson Ultimate

We have the Hensley TrailerSaver BD3. We traded in our Hensley Arrow on it. The BD3 and BD5 are both air ride hitches and come apart for easy removal. BD3 is rail or underbed mounted, and BD5 is underbed or puck system. BD3 is an 18k gross trailer weight and 3500lb pin weight. BD5 is a 28k gross trailer weight and a 5k pin weight.

RE: SARS-CoV-2 Infections in US Dogs and Cats

We had Covid when it first came out. Both our dogs slept with us throughout the illness and neither one showed any signs of illness in the days, weeks, month, nor a year later. Maybe they are as immune as children and most healthy adults.

RE: Best Hitch

We traded in our Hensley for the TrailerSaver BD3 in 2010 and have never looked back. Great hitch. Comes apart for easy lifting and maintenance. A great, fool-proof hitch. Eight O'clock position to hitch, once hitched, it's in the Nine o'clock position and locked. Yes, the name says it all!

RE: Virginia City Mt. To Bannack then on to RT 93 in Idaho

Thanks ReeneG, that's the route I wanted. It looks like a nice ride. We're not in a rush at all. You're welcome. I edited my reply. It's Bannack State Park in Campendium and once you turn off to go to Bannack, it's a dirt road to the park and campgrounds. You would fit in either CG.

RE: Awning material replacement questions

No experience with that company or product, but we replaced our vinyl awning with acrylic and added an alumaguard. Our RV tech recommended the acrylic for durability, and he added the alumaguard at no extra cost since he had one off another repair. We were fortunate in that area. I believe the acrylic was around that much - $900 from Carefree. We've had it now for about three years. No mold to have to wash, no fading of the color (we got navy), no deterioration, and although it's breathable, it is rain proof.

RE: Virginia City Mt. To Bannack then on to RT 93 in Idaho

I think you meant 287 from Virginia City to Dillon, MT via 41, then 278 to Bannack, then 278 to Wisdom via 43, then to the Idaho-Montana border to 93. We've driven those routes with our FW. All two-lane good blacktop highway until you turn off 278 to go to Bannack, and it's a good dirt road, at least when we were there. We stayed at one of the two campgrounds in Bannack - Vigilante and Road Agent. We stayed at Vigilante at the recommendation of the state park ranger because the sites are bigger. With your Class C, you would fit in either one. If you go to Campendium and search for Bannack State Park, you will see our review listed under "Hidden Gem!" by ReneeG. We'd love to go back again, late season as we did. Beautiful area and a lot to see.

RE: 5th wheel & Half-ton TV Thoughts

"the dealership says he'll be fine..." Of course they do! Dealer wants to make a sale. He won't be fine with 95% of all 5ers. TOO much pin weight. One can modify their truck (even those of us who are not automotive engineers) but one can't increase the manufacturer's max weight. What I believe your friend really did was modify the truck to make it level. Agree. When we first got our FW, we had an F250, dealer said the same. We thought the same and put in airbags to help. First trip, air bag line blew On the side of the road repair. Second trip, air lines blew again, twice, on the side of the road repair. A year later we traded in and bought our current TV. Never looked back.

RE: Glacier NP

There are cabins at the East Glacier KOA, and it is within 29 to 39 minutes of driving time from Many Glacier CG. St. Mary's CG is 7 minutes to the East Glacier KOA. Then there is Swift Current Motor Inn at Glacier which is within a minute per Google Maps of Many Glacier CG.

RE: Reflectix

I didn't know there were different types either. Luckily the roll we bought for our house windows was the double Reflectix, Staple Tab Edge and what we ordered for our rear FW window was the same.

We are reinforcing the bottom of the front bay and will be carrying and storing it in there. So that is resolved. Thanks for all the feedback.
