RE: new unit alert!

Nice. In your second pic, I see your landing gear down low. Does it ride that way going down the road?

RE: Idaho fires

Agree with pfidahospud, location of where you want to go would help. Even with the fires, I call the ranger district of where we plan to go boondocking to check for safety. Skies overall may be smokey, but once you're in the mountains, it's bearable. Smoke in the mountains camping is better than smoke in the valley working IMO.

RE: 6 or 12 That is the question

We dry camp a lot and use our solar for TV, Satellite, and computers, plus lights and charging. We have four 6V deep cycle batteries and we only have 300 watts of solar panels!

RE: Garryowen Montana to Colter Bay Village RV Park

Togwotee can be handled easily, just take it slow. We travel that pass often. GaryO, you didn't say what your tow vehicle is. If you have a diesel, easy peasy. Gas? Still ok, just take it slow. We've taken that pass with both.

RE: Reno to Ely NV Highway 50 The loneliest road

I did a search on Campendium for Austin, NV, halfway between and found several areas: Austin Nevada on Campendium If you Zoom out, you'll see more options between the two towns, including rest areas that are huge and look to allow overnight camping. You may have to add an account, but it's free.

RE: Interesting dog names

Great names! Ours for some reason always ended up starting with "M", we have Mabel and Mica now. Always wanted to name one of our dogs Pavlov, but it just doesn't roll off the tongue easily!

RE: Help with awning

Our Alumaguard is silver and was used, hence we got a great deal from our RV tech in installing it. The best thing since electric awnings!

RE: Toilet Tissue...

I get a kick out of the guys saying rv toilet paper is a rip off, how much do you buy? with all the things we spend money on for our campers and camping trips the amount I spend on two ply rv toilet paper is nothing. Steve Like everything else, it's an individual's choice.

RE: Toilet Tissue...

Use any toilet paper you want, RV toilet paper is a rip off. Agree. It just has to pass the water dissolving test and looks like the OP already did that.

RE: Rv locks install

Good idea. I wondered how to use the fob. Does anyone know why it has two button sets to program? I looked at the box. You can install multiple RVLocks on your rig (for those with more than one door) so you can program one fob for both locks, or program them to be the same (which I'm not sure you would want to have all locks unlock or lock at the same time, but it's possible per the box).

RE: Rv locks install

We've got one too and love it. We use the fob too which comes in handy if stopping to use the rest room and I can (or hubby can) unlock from within the cab of our truck so we can just open it (helps if you are in a hurry!)

RE: 5th Weel vs. TT - Length Off Tow Rig

My last travel trailer was 31 feet tongue to bumper, and my current 5th wheel is 35 feet overall. The effective length for both on my truck is almost exactly the same at just under 52 feet. The distance from the bumper to the centre of the trailer axles is also close-within a foot if I remember right. About right for us too. We had a 31' Komfort TT and traded in for our current 35'5" FW. We're about 53' and still get into the same places we did before.

RE: New 5er, fresh water

If you can use a funnel to put bleach in your tank, why can't you use a funnel to put fresh water in from a bucket? The bleach is not just added with a funnel. As explained in my original post, the bleach is added to my fresh water hose with a funnel. The hose is then connected to a water spigot which is pressurized from my house and the water forces the bleach from the hose to the fresh tank. It’s my understanding that just trying to pour water into the inlet on the trailer does not have sufficient pressure to flow into the tank. Many new trailers ( including mine) have no gravity fill inlet. That is why an external pump is needed to fill it if there is no city water connection. Thanks for the explanation.

RE: Yosemite questions

We did a monthlong trip May/June of 2020 from Tucson. September would probably be decent for weather. If you wait until all the kids are back in school {a good thing} you will be pushing the weather envelope as fall/winter comes early. be prepared for all sorts of weather, we had snow flurries and temps in the low 30's all day on June 4th... just sayin. We have friends in Angel Fire NM so started our trip at their place for a few days and then went north through Colorado to Wyoming. Crossed WY from south east to northwest stopping in Cody. The Wild west museum there is amazing g and a must see. This brought us into the park at the east entrance and we had reservations just outside of the west entrance which was ideal. I recommended Grizzly RV in West Yellowstone, a nice RV park just half a mile from the west entrance to the park. We got a great preview of the park coming in from Cody and when your daily visits start at the west entrance you can beat a lot of traffic as there are several road options as you enter. If you come in from the south you will sit in line for an hour or so just to get in. Start your days as early as you can to help avoid the worst of the crowds and go back late in the day if you have not had enough. The best wildlife viewing is early morning/evenings. Do NOT miss the Grand canyon of Yellowstone, probably the most spectacular area of the park. When you head home allow a couple of days at least for Grand Teton NP and the Jackson area. Heading southwest from Jackson follow the Snake River Canyon down into Idaho, one of the most spectacular roads I've ever had the pleasure of driving. I hope you have half as much fun as we did, the entire trip was awesome. Good luck. Here is a shot of one of the falls in the Grand Canyon section of Yellowstone: https://i.imgur.com/UT2nTFIl.jpg This Was taken in Grand Teton NP. We tow the bike in our cargo trailer behind our 24' Class C. If you want the ultimate National Park experience {in any NP} see them from the back of a bike... but I digress: https://i.imgur.com/idGFs0ll.jpg :B Love your trip report, but the OP asked about the other Y park - Yosemite.

RE: Fuel Mileage on 8.1 Workhorse

Single digits.. I had to chuckle at this answer due to our past situation. We HAD a gas truck to tow our 35' FW, got 7mpg!! 7 . . . switched to diesel and in the double digits now.

RE: Sheridan Wy to horseshoe bend campground near Lovell Wy

14A is definitely steep and winding on the Lovell side. We took 14 years back towing a 27' TT with our F250 from Greybull to Sheridan over the summit and had no problems. I wouldn't hesitate taking the same route with our current F350 and 35' FW. It's definitely better than 14A.

RE: 6.8 3-valve towing FW

Devo the Dog - nice truck. Wish we had the foresight in 1999 to buy a new V10 1 ton dually. We probably would still have it.
