RE: Furrion Back up camera

Ours worked about 8 months then one day, the monitor went black. Furrion wouldn’t comment. I removed it and sent it to the recycle pile. All Furrion stuff is junk from the get go. Their Tv, their Microwave and their camera system. I would assume they had a RV tire deal also.

RE: RV retail sales drop 31% April year over year.

Even with the price of fuel, there was too many RV’s to count going N & S on I-75 over 2 days last week.

RE: Heat Pump or Not

Depending on how far north you live and use, the heat pump will only work down to around 38-40 degrees. I’d save the hassle and get a good electric heater to take the chill off and use the furnace only when necessary.

RE: Goodyear recalls 173,000 RV tires

Don’t know of anyone that would have 22.5” tires on a fiver let alone, tires 19 years old.

RE: New Outside Stairs

If your talking about the "Solid Step" I wouldn't have them, RV came with them it would be a deal breaker. They fold inside so any debris, mud, water, snow or ice goes inside. They do make a mat to catch it all inside. Then there's the space issue can't open in parking spaces they hang over to the next spot. Try opening in a storage area with another right next to you, how do you load for travel without taking it from the storage? Why is it that we don’t experience any problems with the solid steps having travelled over 25,000 miles and 342 nights. We don’t set up in mud and the broom takes all other things like sand. We park in rest areas without a problem even in truck stops.

RE: RV parks on the beach Florida

Agree with Pensacola Beach RV and Santa Rosa RV. Topsail Hill Preserve SP is exceptional -- all FU -- on beach. But you need to book nearly a year in advance (11 months maybe?). We are booked for Destin West RV park, farther west than Pensacola (like santa rosa RV park) for 3rd wk June this year. Have not been to it yet but looks super nice. Topsail is 1/4 mile walk or tram ride from the Gulf.

RE: Florida State Parks Early Reservation

We were Florida residents until 2020. We always booked popular Florida and Georgia state parks 12 months in advance. For 10 years in a row, we would book Rainbow Springs SP every Christmas/New Year and Goldhead SP every Thanksgiving. Up until, 2018, we never worried because we could get the site we wanted. Now it has become a lot harder. Our Georgia SP’s are upgrading with a lot more offering 50 amp and sewer. Vogel SP in our county has started to upgrade every site adding sewer, half being closed during the makeover. I understand ST Andrews in Florida has added paved roads and sewer.

RE: Residential vs Gas/Electric Fridge?

Our LG 22 cf fridge draws 7 amps. It doesn’t run all the time so I have no idea what’s the total consumption. While we keep ours plugged in 24/7 at home, on the road we have been making ice at least 48 hours with 2 12 volt trolling type batteries. I would imagine with a good solar setup, you could do at least a week without any problem.

RE: phone-based GPS

With a Mercedes’ chassis I doubt height will be a problem so the Waze app or google maps should work fine. If your screen will support your phone, there will be a couple USB ports. The vehicle manual should address your screen ability. If so, plug in and open the app.

RE: 2020 F350 6.7 weak start

Cold weather start on 6.7 will take a second or two before the starter engages to allow the glow plugs to cycle.

RE: Finding a 3500 series truck to test drive....

I own a F-350/4wd drw 2018. It has 30,000 miles on it give or take almost all towing and have never had a front end wobble.

RE: Interesting Product Coming RV-DE-FENDER

I’ve blown 2 tires in the past 15 years on trailers. Each time, the tire damaged the outer fender, no damage inside the wheel well.

RE: Not a good week for Ford

Under normal conditions, Manufacterers and dealers love recalls. Especially cheap easy fixes like software updates. It means that the consumer has to go to the dealer.... And while he/she is there looks at shiney new vehicles. A lot of sales happen because of it... Sometimes I think recalls are planned for that. It would be easy to do.. Oh snap! there goes my conspiracy side of me again... In todays market, it would be stupid to do it, as they have little to sell.:B YMMV. Apparently you haven’t been to a dealer lately. Dealers have very few vehicles to choose from. Those that do have a few, have vehicles with nice accessories deleted unavailable. Dealers here in N Georgia have between 10-15% of their usual inventory. Just yesterday, GM announced folding towing mirrors are now deleted.

RE: blue ridge parkway from Hwy21 in NC north to NC/VA border

You will have no trouble driving on the parkway as to roads grades, curves or tunnels above Waynesville NC . All tunnel clearance is at the fog line. I suggest a stopover near fancy gap, to explore the nostalgia of the southern city Mount Airy, Andy Griffith home town.

RE: Get Internet with No Cell Service??

If you apply for Starlink today, you may get it within 2 years. My neighbor applied last February 2021 and is still awaiting his equipment.

RE: Dish network internet

Star Link, not very good in our North Georgia area. My neighbor has now returned 2 Star Link systems. The first used a round dish antenna while the second one returned last week used a rectangular dish antenna. His complaint is it would be working fine one minute then stop working. I assume this system will be more reliable once all the satellites are launched.
