RE: 5th wheel hitch

I’d go with the 18,000. We tow a Cardinal with a GVWR of 18,000 with the 20,000 companion. Never know what lies ahead.

RE: Concrete driveway thickness??

Concrete highways are normally 4 inches thick to stand up to truck traffic. Call some contractors and ask them. You might be right on the margin of safety. Driveways are usually 4” thick. Concrete roadways are 8”-12” thick with lots of rebar.

RE: 2020 Jayco 36FTBS grey water sewer smell in trailer

We were experiencing a sewer smell as we exited the shower. I opened the cabinet below the lavatory and was almost consumed with the smell. I removed the air admittance valve and found one at Home Depot cost about $6.99. It didn’t stop the smell. Located another at Home Depot, Oatly brand about $12. It worked and stopped our problem. Don’t waste your money on the cheap one.

RE: Running a residential fridge on 12 volt power?

Residential 22 cf here. We have a 2 12 volt batteries that allows our fridge to run off the inverter for over 15 hours without any problems.

RE: has anyone seen one of these in person?

Don’t want a toy hauler with the garage is in the living space. Also, I’m too old to climb into an olde gooseneck bed style.

RE: moving NC to Fl

We are in the opposite end. Moving from Florida to north Georgia mountains. Home and auto insurance is 1/2 of Florida’s rates. While real estate taxes are less, sales tax and income taxes make up the difference.

RE: Fort McAllister

As long as the no see ums are not a problem you will enjoy your stay. McAllister is an earthen fort. Not far away is Fort Pulaski, a brick fort from the civil war. If you are able to visit, walk outside the fort on the east and southeast side where you can observe the Union shells lodged in the walls.

RE: Exclusive: Utterly Unique Fifth Wheel

I believe the weight factor will cause it too require Sportchassis class tow vehicle. By the way, the majority of Winnebago diesel class A use a basement A/C unit.

RE: GM HD Trucks Many with AWD instead of 4WD

The price and build sheets of 2020 Silverados are either 2WD or 4WD, no AWD option meaning they have 1 transfer case not 3 as on AWD cars.

RE: Ocala, Florida

Try Salt Springs Recreation Area, full hookups 50 amp service paved sites. Was a private CG back a few years. Plenty of room for MOTORHOMES or large trailers. Spotty TV and Phone. We use Verizon with good results. Salt Springs

RE: Tapping off of the 3/8 Propane Line

Should work. We used to supply a 40,000 btu space heater off 3/8” copper tubing.

RE: RV Shopping

Price and weight are construction oriented. Higher priced trailers will have a solid fiberglass shower, porcelain toilet and probably a home style refrigerator. Most will have 7k axles and a aftermarket pin box, fiberglass sides and the forward half of the trailer frame double stacked I-beams with G rated tires. Our Cardinal 2018 3350LX listed for $95K and we took it for $59K out the door in November 2018, last one they had.

RE: Large camper with single AC

Add a second unit and wire it to plug into any 20 amp circuit. In the past, we have owned single A/C equipped trailers and had added a second unit. Both were wired into an adjoining closet or cabinet and down through the floor terminating with a male 15/20 amp plug. Just ran an extension to the pedestal 20 plug.

RE: SWFL to Hiawassee Ga pulling a 30 ft TT

Very few noticeable elevation changes by taking 75 to 575/ 515 to Hiawassee. Weekend early through Atlanta is best.

RE: Who do you use for Insurance?

State Farm, the same people that insure everything else I have. Bill Yes!

RE: Storage space vs phoney fireplace.

If you ever use it, you will miss it for sure. I didn’t think we would use ours but here in the north Georgia mountains, even in summer we use it to knock off the morning chill.

RE: 15+ F150 - Breakaway Cable anchor?

The engineers put tow hook rings on the hitch and not on the vehicle frame for a reason. Convenience and safety. Don’t try to think outside the box. Use a clasp/hook device and attach to the safety chain anchor rings.

RE: Waterproofing the 1/8" thick exposed plywood

It will be fine. After several years towing the same fifth wheel, I have to clean the area of dust, spiders, and wasp. Never had any sign of water/spray entering that area.

RE: Are campgrounds more crowded or is it just me?

Both resort type campgrounds we’ve been for the last month have been sold out.
