RE: incandescent bulb works correctly LED does not

We have led nightlights that light up even when the power is out- not sure where the power is coming from. That's worth investigating, if you care about your battery. Do you have a battery disconnect switch? Ever put an ammeter on your battery lines? Could they be phosphorescent?

RE: incandescent bulb works correctly LED does not

As you can see from the above comments there are many things that can go wrong. More information is needed to sort through the possibilities.

RE: RVing YouTube videos???

All about RVs and RV-Project have solid technical information broken down for the non tech. I consider myself a tech but have learned a lot on how to apply it to RVs!

RE: Specific Need

It's amazing how pleasant a convenient bathroom can be. This gets more important as one get further I to grand parent age.

RE: led vanity lights

"White" is a matter of comparison to colors around you. Next to a fire 2700K looks white Next to HID headlights 3000K looks yellow or the headlights look blue. There are no absolutes!

RE: Need help with dimmer switch

No, not all whites are ground. In fact 12VDC systems don't have a separate ground like household 120VAC systems. Negative is usually the chassis that works sorta like a ground. If you have a return from the lighting then you don't need a new wire. Color codes also vary widely. You'll find products from outside the USA often have black and white reversed from our normal black=negative. Sometimes you'll see red instead of white, or yellow, or, or, or they're just all the same color!! This guy does a great overview of dimmers for RVs. https://youtu.be/wv7h8jDPZ8g

RE: Low temperature LI battery

I believe the vastly faster charge rate possible with LiFePo more than makes up for some seasonal heating needs.

RE: Need help with dimmer switch

Is the dimmer like this? https://images-na.ssl-images-amazon.com/images/I/41T3vkqg3mL.jpg https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07D2CPJ3S If that's at all right you should be in good shape. Do you have 4 wires? 2 from the source, 2 from the light. Does your dimmer have 3 wires or 4. If 4 then it's just a matter of sorting line and load, positive and negative. If you have 3 wires then one will go to both negatives and all join together. The others to positive and load. If you only have 2 wires then you may need a different dimmer.

RE: led vanity lights

These are 4000K color which is lightly blue. I'd recommend something closer to 3000K Most incandescent is 2600 to 3000. Even lower/yellower when your batteries are low. Daylight is considered 5000 to 10,000 and lighting is rarely made over 6000K as that's very blue. You may also see a CRI number. Don't buy anything below 80CRI or people will look ill. FYI lighting has been my business for 40+ years.

RE: Want to add a cig charger inside-ideas?

I dont think I have seen a RV without a 12 volt plug some where inside the coach, maybe some high end diesel pushers might go without.. :h My 2019 has only USB, but not enough of them. Welcome to the new world Timmac ;) I'm not so hesitant to tap into existing 12V. But I know enough about electricity to do it correctly. I'm adding some outlets to my bedroom. The bedside lights have a local switch and all my internal wiring is 15A rated. It helps that all my lights are LED so the current load on that circuit is less than 1A. The devices RoyB shows come in 1001 flavors, including some USB withOUT the indicator lights. If you like nightlights they're fine, but I hate them and don't want the constant, if minimal, draw on the batteries. I added a lighter plug and USB combo to my pass through storage. As easy as it gets!

RE: 50A questions

OK, here is the deal. If you plug your new trailer into a 50A outlet with neutral missing, you burn up most of your AC devices with 240V across them...Um No it won't. A missing neutral will not cause an otherwise properly wired 120V device to see 240V. Take 2 circuits on opposite sides, say 2 AC units. They are both tied to the neutral. When both units are on, without the neutral, the AC units will be in series across 240V. Not quite the same as each unit seeing 240V, but not good! Edit/ I guess I should add that if the 2 devices are not equal then they won't see equal voltages. Say one is a small light and the other an AC. The AC would see most of the voltage.

RE: 50A questions

It's very important to fully understand the differences in the systems. A 50A connection is NOT 20A bigger than a 30A one, it's 100A. Confusing right? A 30A connection will be OFF if the neutral fails. A 30A connection is 120V and can not give 240V. If you need more, just ask...

RE: Fridge whine

Reviving an old post, it's still noisey. The fan is very quiet and it's definitely the gas valve, but only when something over 80° So can anything be done?

RE: Know RV or campers association...

This is confusing. Is the NPS supposed to protect national parks for everyone to enjoy, or fence them off? I thought NPS was supposed to keep "wild areas" open to the public, while still protecting it. Seems logical... if the public pays for the national parks, the public should have access. The goal is a balance but biased towards preservation, think access for future generations. AFAIK 'wild' is not part of their mandate. Special and Unique are the focus, thus the historical side. Wilderness usually means little to no trace of humans. NPS can't meet that standard much of anywhere.

RE: How High???

Our CB/radio antenna is at 15'6" but it flexes supposedly. As a kid I cut off slender weeds, like nettles, by waving a stick at high speed. Probably far less than highway speeds.

You have reached some rational folks. We need to join some more groups to protect our future.

RE: Wireless Battery Voltage Meter

It worked fine for a couple of weeks. I added 2 batteries to my original and it went screwy. It does count up WH and AH. I'm sure I didn't turn it around, but I think I'll try that anyway.

RE: Know RV or campers association...

Close most parks to the public. Keep a few open using mass transit. The goal is preserve and protect, not splay open and exploit. NPS has always had public access as part of their mission. This is directly opposite of wilderness declarations. There is a room for both types.
