RE: Extensive Traveling with a 5th Wheel

Our light rig has served us well. We've been increasing our trip times every summer. 2, 3 and now 5 months a year. We've certainly had some breakdowns and wear. We haven't been tender with it either. Lots of FS dirt roads and a certain wrong turn put us on an ATV road! The worst is the interior wood finishes that can't be repaired. Be prepared to do some repairs on the road! The strangest issue is drawer slides. They aren't over loaded but the most used needed replacement last year. Of course even the cheapest hardware store one are better than the OEM.

RE: Pre-cooked packaged bacon

We've used the bacon crumbles at home and on the road. They don't need refrigeration until opened. Great for some flavor in eggs or salads.

RE: Stuck in yard, ruts. Install driveway? Ideas please.

I did a half solution. My parking area is sandy and dry so got rutted easily. A yard or so of gravel and a bag of straight cement (not mix) spread out and mixed into the top few inches. A little water and compaction turned it into "dirtcrete". More curing happened with rain. 3 years later it's stable and doesn't rut. The surface looks like a thin layer of gravel. It won't, last as long as full concrete or gravel, but cost a tiny fraction and some digging.

RE: Cassiar Highway

Sounds like a job for a 'burner' phone. Far cheaper than renting anything. https://www.howtogeek.com/712588/what-is-a-burner-phone-and-when-should-you-use-one/

RE: short high end fifth wheel

We nearly bought an OutdoorRV, a sister company to Northwood. There may not be any formal connection but Lagrange, OR is a very small town. They are nothing like DRV, but do a better job than most.

RE: Suggestions for using "wasted" solar power?

This is a prime case of 'get the specifics', 'most doesn't matter! Rates and policies vary widely!

RE: Towing in the snow

Regardless of OP, I say thanks for the pointers. We're experienced towing and live well north, but rarely tow in significant snow. I hope I remember it all when the time comes.

RE: RV park "STANDARDS"

"RV Resort" is the most verbally abused word in the RV park industry. There are no standards, regulations, etc. As long as the sign painter can put it on signage, it's good to go! what about "High Quality" or "Well Made"? :W

RE: RV park "STANDARDS"

It's all about marketing techniques. Marketing does not equal reality.

RE: Harvest Hosts

Their website has a map showing approximate locations of hosts. We looked to see if a membership would be good for an Alaska trip. As above, one night stops heading somewhere else seems to be the best case scenario.

RE: absorption refrigerator out of level, boiler temp control

You might double check your manual. Mine says 3/6 degrees not percent. In another spot it says "comfortable to live in" which can be misinterpreted but I think is easily understood.
