RE: flex tape

No home grade tape is intended for long term use, especially if exposed to the elements. Eternabond is designed for roofs and has a long record on RVs.

RE: Pre-planning for first long duration trip upon retirement

Probably the biggest adjustment will be slowing down and losing track of time and days of the week. Take whatever time you want whenever you want to.

RE: Long Beach, WA to Spokane

Kind of hard to approach Spokane from the W/SW without using I90. We could direct them further north and take US2 across the Cascades and eastern Washington. Better yet take WA20 across :) We live there and do it all the time. WA20 WA26, US2 are also good options. Ritzville is about an hour from downtown via I90 so 395 isn't bad but not fun.

RE: Long Beach, WA to Spokane

Whatever you do avoid I90 like a blank wall in a hospital. Once you get over the Cascades the Yakima valley I82 and Walla Walla US12 wineries are a great time and well worth the time. The rural countryside and small towns can be fun too!

RE: Do They Make 5th Wheels Like This Anymore??

All 5ers have an area over the pivot. When we were shopping modern trailers were described as "low, mid, or full profile" meaning the height of the front. Most floorplans have additional storage and utility space under the bedroom and bath. Short or long these are things that most of the world thinks work better.

RE: Question about solar panel rack.

I saw a video using Unistrut as a base frame. Standard 1 5/8" or the shallow stuff would be my choice. www.unistrut.us

RE: Trailer Valet?

I hear you, but I like the back of my cab too much. For us the auto slider is best.

Trailer Valet?

So I have a parking issue at home. All I want is to push the nose sideways a few feet, but it's just not possible with the truck, and still unhitch. I looked up trailer valet devices and they all seem to be ball hitch only. There is one that looks like a lunar rover that claims 3-5k lbs but it's expensive and still not really a 5er device. Has anyone built any sled or dolly? I don't have to go far, or often, but it sure would be nice.

RE: Fresh water tank

I carry a few of these Water jugs. They are cheap, store well and come in many sizes. I can carry 2 from a central spigot in the campground, several times if needed. Or put them in my truck to fill on a day trip.

RE: Tunnels, bridges & hair pin turns

We were in both the Black Hills and Badlands NP a few weeks ago. We used the Visitor's Bureau free map extensively. The whole area is very well signed! "Don't Pet the Fuzzy Cows!" While there we saw many 40' Class A on the main road loop in Badlands. I'd rather not take my 30' trailer but it's not impossible. The Black Hills area has 3 roads that are not for anything of any size. They are fantastic scenic roads that are very well signed and far from necessary. 8 - 9' wide and 8 - 11' tall tunnels are far worse than the tight corners and 'pig tail' overpasses, even in my pickup. Bypass the Iron Mountain Road, Needles Highway, and Peter Norbeck Scenic Byway and you will have a great time! https://www.dangerousroads.org/north-america/usa/2737-needles-eye.html
