I would have had the trailer sold to someone else by now

RE: goosebox

What exactly is the buyer wanting you to do about the current hitch? He has a ball in his truck. Looking at adapter and hitch, quoted $3000-3800. Goosebox looks to be around $1750 and maybe (my guess) $300-400 for install. Already dropped as low as I will go for fifth-wheel. Oh! He's trying to get you to buy him a Reese Goosebox because he doesn't want to spring for a B&W Companion for $1000 or any other solution on his own. So he's using his own tow vehicles limited ability to pull a 5th wheel and his unwillingness to purchase appropriate equipment as a negotiating point against you. Ok well after I finished laughing at him, I know what MY response would be, but I'm sure you are a lot nicer of a fellow than I am.

RE: goosebox

Selling my fifth wheel and potential buyer is talking about the goosebox pinbox. Anyone with one or knowledge of the goosebox? What exactly is the buyer wanting you to do about the current hitch?

RE: Ever Add A Dehumidifier ??

Check the pan on the roof to be sure no leaves, pine leaves, etc. are not blocking the water from leaving the pan. I check mine occasionally, and if the holes are blocked it can result in water coming into the RV when the fan is on. I also, have a dehumidifier that I only use when my unit is in storage along with a high setting on the A/C. This is basically so you don't have mold growing. Roger that. Thx

RE: Ever Add A Dehumidifier ??

Oh it's definitely only doing it when it is running. The rig is brand new fwiw. Im getting a repair guy to come look at it this week and see if he can figure out whats going on then. Dont want to wake up with wet feet again.

RE: Ford 350 mile per gallon

I had a head/crosswind going from DFW to Lubbock a few weeks ago and averaged 7. Coming back at night with a little tailwind, 11.

Ever Add A Dehumidifier ??

One of my two AC's will leak water from the unit itself, onto the master bed, and sometimes the ductwork itself will drip water. Any recommendations for a plug in dehumidifier perhaps to fix this condition??

Nose High vs Bed Clearance

Had a Reese Goosebox installed today. Tell me your opinion here. Am I too high in the front? Trailer is 44' long, which makes a difference. Frame bottom to ground in rear: 22.25" Frame bottom to ground in front: 26" Bottom of gooseneck to top of truck bed rail: 9" Think I am GTG or do I need to drop the Reese down a click?

RE: Tires

New tires are cheap insurance. Blowouts might cause a wreck, or at least damage the vehicle. Plus now you're on the side of the road and might get killed there. NONE of that is worth the $800 you'll spend every 6 years. Peace of mind. Buy new tires.

RE: 40 or 45 ft 5fer, any difference

I went from a 32'TT to a 44' 5er and am managing just fine. Especially with a dually like what you have, you'll do fine

RE: New tires for 5'r

I did a write up on my recent search and purchase. It's a few pages back. Carlisle CSL 16 is what you want.

RE: Generators: Cummins 4500 vs Westinghouse vs. ?????

I have a Honda 5500 inverter. Ran my 30 amp TT fine and is quiet Of course it wont run both AC units on the 5er. Only problems I ever had in years of ownership is from sitting up not being cycled

RE: The RV Demand Continues

RV sales guy I talked to a few months ago said he sells several RVs every DAY. Absolutely no effort extended to work any deals They just sell themselves, is the attitude

RE: Do you use EKON OX BLOX Trailer Jack Blocks

I agree. Seemed odd that they are marketed so expensive. I stack Camco legos high and never had a problem.

Jake Braking A 5er Down Long Steep Incline

Just arrived at our vacation destination yesterday. I had my factory “jake”brake set and the cruise control on when I crested the top of the largest hill going into this part of the country. I’ve never towed a fifth wheel through this kind of environment before and felt like I was looking over the top of a roller coaster when I looked down the several mile long descent My F350 downshifted all the way into third gear and held me at 55 miles an hour from the top of the mountain to the bottom of each mount I encountered After I went up and down several mountains like this however it occurred to me that I might be creating conditions conducive for a jackknife if I didn’t have any braking on the trailer at all in such a descent since the wheels of the truck were providing the resistance going down the hill via engine braking and the wheels of the trailer were just rolling freely. Do I need to be using my integral brake controller in such a condition to apply a little bit of braking to the trailer all the way from the top of the mountain to the bottom?

Towing With Water Pump Switched On. Burn Up Pump??

My 5'er has two full bathrooms. One is at the very back and is accessed by an exterior back door. The water pump switch is mid trailer however and can be hard to access if all you're wanting to do is pull over at a truck stop and jump in the back bathroom for a quick break. I want to I leave the water pump switch ON while I am towing, and at all the stops along the way, I therefore can get the kids in and out of the back bathroom and flush the toilet over and over and have running water. Will leaving the water pump ON while towing burn out the pump motor or will it be ok?
