RE: 50amp EMS w/surge

I have a Progressive PT50X 50amp and it works just fine from a 30 amp source or my Predator 3500 generator. I have also had to use it at Campgrounds that only had 30 amp hookups by using the provided 50 to 30 amp adapter from Progressive. I prefer to have the portable unit because I can check the power before parking at a campsite, plus if something does go wrong with the unit it won't stink up the RV with smoke. This is my second unit from Progressive. My first one had the cord come loose from the plug. It still worked OK but it was hanging from the wires and not the cord. Progressive replaced it within 7 days from the time I submitted a warranty claim...great customer service.

RE: I just got the new RV Magazine

Thanks....just used the Link to ask to have my subscription cancelled. Plus, told them what I thought of their Camping World ad magazine. Marcus Lemonis ruins everything he touches! Sure miss Trailer Life....

RE: I just got the new RV Magazine

Got my second issue yesterday. It looks just like an ad for Camping World and nothing to do with trailers or Class A motorhomes. The lack of Tech issues and information is disappointing. The loss of Motorhome and Trailer Life magazines will never be replaced by this garbage. Makes me more PO’ed at Camping World just looking through the ads. Amazon has almost the same products at a lower cost.

RE: Smartplug Converstion

I installed the 50amp SmartPlug on my travel trailer 2 months ago. One of the best mods I have made since I bought the trailer. The second best mod was installing the MORryde REEL56-001H Easy Reel Cord Spooler to wind up my 50amp cord. https://www.amazon.com/MORryde-REEL56-001H-Easy-Reel-Spooler/dp/B00BFU2G6A/ref=sr_1_1?dchild=1&keywords=morryde+cord&qid=1588439653&sr=8-1

In cold weather I simply connect my water hose to my outside water connection and run hot water through it until it becomes soft and easy to coil.

RE: Propane blockage

If you used compressed air on the propane hose without disconnecting the furnace and water heater you have damaged the gas valves in both of them. With a bit of luck the stove burner and refrigerator might be OK. Amazon has the gas valves for the furnace and water heater.

RE: Smartplug Converstion

That is true, but it was a good excuse to convince my wife we needed to spend the Big Bucks to buy the Smartplug! I bought it on Black Friday for a greatly reduced price, installed it a week later. I was (am) greatly impressed by it construction and it has such a positive connection between the RV and power cord. My TT is a 2017 that is going on 4 years old and when I took the factory installed socket out of the trailer I was amazed at how sloppy the connections were. Two of the four wires were barely tight, and if either one had come loose it would have caused a serious problem. After I found those loose connections I checked all the connections on my converter, finding one loose there as well. Loose connections result in excessive heat, excessive heat results in melted connections that can end up causing a fire.

RE: Smartplug Converstion

I updated my travel trailer with 50 amp service to the Smartplug system about a month ago. One of the best Mods I have done. The change over adding the new socket to the RV, and the new connector to the power cord was simple and didn’t take very long. It has a much more solid connection than the old twist lock and is very weather resistant. What prompted me to make the change was a cracked twist ring that would not get tight enough to secure the plug in the socket and as a result was getting hot when using high amperage.
