RE: What did you do to your truck today?

My factory tires on my 2019 Chevy were needing replaced so I upgraded to 245/70/19.5 tires, I also got the bulkhead installed to protect the aux diesel tank I installed not to long ago. https://i.imgur.com/qTu6dihl.jpg https://i.imgur.com/ImWWs2gl.jpg

RE: Lithium crossing the acceptance threshold…

Ya, good luck with that. There will always be those that because LifeP04 has different operational requirements will use that as an excuse that they are no good. It is different and scary.

RE: Diesel Ram Owner Forced to Scrap Truck !

I deleted and raced a 2009 Duramax for a couple years, we kept the original ECM and all the emission parts to be reinstalled.

RE: 19.5 Hankook DH35 vs XDS2

My 19.5's do well on Stevens Pass and wear better than any LT tire I owned. I had the same experience with the Toyo M608, they were the best winter tire I have used.

RE: 19.5 Hankook DH35 vs XDS2

Ok thanks, I will probably check with a few more places.

RE: 19.5 Hankook DH35 vs XDS2

I pulled the trigger on another set of the XDS’s. Couldn’t find any first hand info on the DH35’s, so went with what I know. I appreciate the responses. What was the cost? I just got a quote for XDS2 for $677.00 per tire. I was thinking about going with the Toyo M608z again but they had over 1000 back ordered.

RE: GMC TPMS

I don’t know if they are the same system but on my 2009 we raced the truck and ran tire pressure as low as 20psi, I had the dealer reset the tire pressure settings in the TPMS so we wouldn’t get the dashboard warning.

RE: Lithium Battery Charging System

I see you're taking compression pretty serious. I started out compressing, but after looking into it a bunch, it seems compression is of only some minimal benefit to longevity. With the lesser cycle cells, you'll get some marginal extra life, or with used B or C grade cells. The K cells will last 17 years even if you mildly abuse them. If you really take care of them and constantly keep them in the 60-80% range, they are estimated to last 32 years. And that's without compression. Not saying compression isnt correct and I know the manufacturers have always recommended it, I just can't see going through the hassle with these new LFK cells. The latest LF280K are 3500 cycles without compression and 6000 with, I would say that’s a little more than minimal. If you don’t restrain them I would suggest you keep a real close eye on your cell connections or go flexible buss bars because of the expansion and contraction of these cells. I have 640 lbs of compression on mine per the manufacturer and they still expand and contract with state of charge. ETA: Also these are in a off road 4x4 and I can’t have them bouncing around, these mount on rubber isolators as well. https://i.imgur.com/yNIlH88l.jpg

RE: Your Opinion On Air Bags

A lot depends on your springs, are the overloads engaged when loaded up? One thing is if your springs are too weak and you have to pump the bags up so much to level the truck that you unload the overloads you will be bouncing down the road. I see a lot of people asking what pressure to inflate their bags to and it all depends on your individual set up/ how much support is needed and when your set up lifts off the overloads. Probably will not help with sway.

RE: Lithium Battery Charging System

The new EVELF280K cells are rated to 6K+ cycles. Building a pack of Four of these cells will provide longer service than any Lead acid. Combined with 3 or 400+ watts of panels, it's a no brainer. After doing the requisite research and getting past the initial, kinda-steep learning curve of DIY LFPs and now that I've built one, the cost to energy density ratio is clear. You can keep watering your cells. I'm done with that ****. when was the K edition released, at 6K cycles going down to 10V from full is a game changer again. double the life at 100% usage and only 600ish us for a set of 4. I like the way they adresses the bolting also. nice set up. The LF280K have been around for about a year, I purchased the LF280N the previous version last year. https://i.imgur.com/UXyYhqgl.jpg how has your daily BMS been doing, I went with Overkill solar BMS as the dailys were having some issues at the time, or was that just blowen out of proportion like the internet usaly does? Steve The first two are working fine except for the SOC I sn’t accurate, I went around and around with Daly but could never get the PC software to work to change their sensitivity, they don’t register a draw below about 3 amps. I am putting together 8 packs so far and have switched to Overkill BMS for the next couple to try them out. https://i.imgur.com/AFOH5Ull.jpg

RE: Lithium Battery Charging System

Sounds to me like you blew a fuse or fusable link to the batteries when you hooked them up backwards, I would make sure your main battery switch is on and check the fuses.

RE: Question for those with an Auxiliary diesel fuel tank

I was worried about gravity flow through a water separator so I decided to just add a pump, it is on a 30 minute timer and will transfer about 18 gallons. The tank had condensation in it when I got it so I was more worried about moisture than debris. https://i.imgur.com/qtrEtHPl.jpg

RE: What did you do to your truck today?

Finished the aux bed tank install, got three more holes through the cab floor with water tight connectors, one for the 14/2 to the fuel pump and two extra for 10 gauge so cord for 120 volt 30 amp in and out for the 2800 watt inverter. Wired the pump timer to the pump and to the low voltage fuse panel in the cab, twist the timer for 30 minutes and it will transfer about 15 gallons and shut off. https://i.imgur.com/Mau4wi6l.jpg https://i.imgur.com/nAZ2gkcl.jpg https://i.imgur.com/zJwp5eDl.jpg

RE: More on LFP Charging

My EVE LF280N cells are rated at 3500 cycles from full charge to 2.5 volt cut off and that is at 1.C in a compression fixture. I am not to worried about charging them up to 100% SOC and using the full capacity. From what I understand if you draw your battery down 20% and then charge it back to 100% that is only 20% of a battery cycle. At 3500 cycles I think for most users they will age out before cycling out, I think there are many more factors that will affect cell life more than using the manufacturer stated capacity. https://i.imgur.com/QOUDoyyl.jpg

RE: Where have all the members gone on this forum?

Part of the issue is some one new posts and it turns into a 12 page argument, seems like people can’t agree to disagree anymore. Facebook, other forums and grumpy old men would be my answer.

RE: What did you do to your truck today?

Installed a 51 Gallon aux tank for a total of 87 gallons. https://i.imgur.com/swwIVJjl.jpg https://i.imgur.com/om7gbSjl.jpg https://i.imgur.com/APcxKj8l.jpg Nice clean install! But why all the extra parts and filter? Not down with gravity fill? What’s the top line off the tank for? I wanted a filter to catch the condensation from the metal aux tank before going into the main tank, and while I was at it decided to add a pump. It is on a 15 minute timer and will pump a little over 7 gallons before shutting off. The pipe on top is a vent with roll over valve.

RE: Anyone Cancelling Truck Camper Trips Due to Fuel Prices?

No ,added a extra 51 gallon tank. Instead of using my commercial supplier I am shopping around. https://i.imgur.com/ejl4yu0l.jpg 87 gallons@ $5.85 last fill up, contractor I work with just paid $6.40 in Bellinham WA.

RE: Will a 3/4 ton do

Well you don’t have to be real bright to know when you are over tire capacities, but I guess that doesn’t mean much to some.
