RE: Seattle RV Park Recs

Last Summer we stayed at Saltwater State Park. There are no hookups, but it is very close to the water and they do have bathrooms. It was a easy short drive to the light rail that took us in to Seattle. Not you typical KOA campground. Great sunsets over the water from there.

RE: What are your yearly registration costs for your truck?

Just paid it yesterday, California 2016 F250 $660.00. No smog test for the first 5 years and no personal property tax.

RE: Vancouver to Whitehorse via Vancouver Island?

Can't help on anything except the Vancouver Island part of your trip. Although we are in the early stage of planning a trip to Alaska via the Alcan Hwy. We spent three weeks this past Summer on the Island and feel in love with the place. I second the suggestion to take the Wash State ferry from Anacortes to Sidney. It was one of the highlights of our trip as the ferry passes through the San Juan Islands, quite close at times, simply a gorgeous trip. We measured right at 50' and the price was $241.00, well worth the scenery going over. The drive up the island is not fast but easy with some great views.

RE: 2016 F250 6.2L gas mileage

I tow with a 2016 F250 6.2, 4x4, CCSB, with 4.30's. Most of my towing is in the California Mts, many grades 6% for a few miles each. My TT weights in right at 6,000 loaded, and I average right at 9.2. Happy with that and I have plenty of pedal left on the hard pulls. Never considered going to a diesel, too much added costs.

RE: Swamp boat tours in Louisiana

Two years ago the wife and I took a tour using Air Boat Adventures. The guide had grown up in the area and was full of information. The boat only sat 6 people so real close to the water. We saw more gators than I can count, the guide actually called them up to the boat, they where literally feet away. I highly recommend this outfit.!!!!! Take a look at their webpage. It was the best thing we did in NO next to the food and the WWll museum. Another thing you must do while you are there.

RE: Headlights are too high towing, getting high beam flashed.

Thanks for all the response. The truck sits perfectly level when unloaded. It came from the factory like this, I did nothing to the truck to level the truck. So when hooked up it drops an inch and causes the lights to be off. I don't think I have ever seen a truck that didn't squat to some degree when a load is applied. How rough would that unloaded ride be if the suspension was that stiff. If I try to adjust the hitch to fix the lights, I would have to set it so the truck literally didn't move in the back. I'm not sure that is even possible, plus it would be way out of the hitch manufactured measurements. I love the hitch and not going to replace it when I believe it is a truck issue. I am in the process of rethinking air bags ($), or using a screwdriver and making an adjustment (free). I don't drive the truck very often without the trailer so it wouldn't have to be changed back.

RE: Headlights are too high towing, getting high beam flashed.

I guess that is the answer I was looking for. Does anybody have any experience adjusting a 2016 F250 headlights? Can it be done?

Headlights are too high towing, getting high beam flashed.

So I had to tow through the night on my last trip, something I try to avoid, but was unavoidable this time. I kept getting flashed by on coming drivers because apparently my lights are too high and blinding people. I have 2016 F250 with the camper package and use an 4 Point Equi-li-zer Hitch. The tongue weight of the trailer is only 700 lbs and the hitch is adjusted correctly according to the owners manual height measurements. The truck rear end drops approx. 1 1/4 from unloaded height, but this is enough to throw the alignment off for the lights. I am looking for suggestions on how to remedy this issue without using the hitch to do it. Using the hitch would put the adjustment out of the normal range according to Equi-li-zer. Basically the truck sags too much even with the hitch attached, or it sags enough to throw off the headlights, however you want to look at it. I have looked into the Torklift spring helpers, and they look reasonable, Is there other possible solutions. PS I do not want air bags, I think that would be over kill.

RE: San Diego Camping.....

I will not stay at Silver Strand and its only a few miles away from home. Sites are so close you can't use your awning. Good access to the beach though.

RE: Olympic Peninsula and Park

It was gray and rainy when we where there in July. LOL Can't imagine later in the summer. By the way stayed at Salt Creek near Port Angeles.

RE: San Diego Camping.....

I live in San Diego and I would stay at Santee Lakes. Easy access to downtown if you travel off rush hour times. Nice sites and a peaceful urban setting. Lake Jennings would be my next choice. I can actually see the park from my house, have stayed there when relatives where in town. More rural than Santee, but close to freeway and shopping.
