RE: ARP Fridge Defend - Boiler temp shows 329F - new install

How challenging was it to install?

RE: Does anyone use a Toad-Charge?

I suppose the simple answer is I don’t know enough about electricity and batteries to do it that way. The toad charge provided me with the components and instructions to establish a charging system that has served me for several years now.

RE: Snowbird Report Card

Might not qualify as a Snowbird, but I did spend almost all of March in West Palm Beach, FL for the Washington Nationals Spring Training. Only needed to use the heat pump or furnace on 2 nights, and daytime highs were mostly 75-85°, with no games rained out! Can’t complain a bit. Would you mind saying where you stayed? The Nats are my team and I’d like to do that next year. We’ve been in Phoenix the past three and I’m done with Cactus League for awhile.

RE: No Service Address Changes on DirecTV

I”d really like to see the full text of the email. I’ve been a DTV customer for several years and have not received such an email. By the way, anyone looking to get into sat TV would be crazy to go with DTV right now. This is COMPLETELY wrong. The poster needs to do a little research before making this kind of an incorrect post. Love my DTV and will love it for many, many years to come. So, you believe Direc’s customer service has not degraded since the acquisition by AT&T?

RE: The Steering Wheel and spinning the captain's chair

Slide the seat all the way back on the rails, tilt the seat back all the way forward, pull the arms up, tilt the steering wheel up, rotate the seat, and adjust for comfort. Almost the exact same routine except I leave the left arm in the down position and it slides right under the steering wheel. Same here.

RE: Satellite TV is Dead, Direct TV just lost 267,000 customers

Howdy! We have been fulltiming for over 12 years and up until last year used DirecTV satellite for our TV viewing. We had planned our trip last year to Alaska and new we would lose satellite in Canada and Alaska so we cut the cord. We have a unlimited plus AT&T plan and now also have prepaid Verizon unlimited MiFi plan. We were already using Netflix’s and Amazon Prime so we added DirecTV Now. We had great success streaming in Canada and Alaska. Only one location in lower 48 was a problem and that as a TT’s Park in Cottonwood, AZ but knowone had service. One nice thing about stream is I know longer have to worry about the satellite being blocked by anything when we setup. We are very happy with streamingand also save money as we had the largest DTV satellite package. “Happy Trails’ Chiefneon How much does an unlimited plus AT&T plan run and how much does a prepaid Verizon unlimited MiFI plan cost. And would that be enough for a full Saturday of football games? Unlike some who camp to get away from TV, our group goes to all of our university's home football games and some away games in the fall. When we are not in the stadium watching our team, we tend to have the TV on showing other games that are being aired. To answer your first question: I can only speak to the prepaid. $70/mo and if you have it set up to autopay, it drops to $65. The answer to your second question is “It depends”. It depends on which tower you are pinging off of when you want to stream. Prepaid plans have little to no priority for bandwidth, so if lots of people are pinging your tower, your prepaid mifi could be virtually useless. At my home a little north of you, my mifi is nearly as good as my cable modem. We’ve been on a winter escape this winter and have experienced it all from great to ****.

RE: I need a new Verizon Jetpack

thanks. is ALL data high speed? no throttling even with the laptop tethered? no potential slowing after XXgb depending on network traffic? If it sounds too good to be true.... Prepaid plans are subject to being deprioritized when traffic on the tower you’re hitting reaches certain levels. That means your jet pack could be virtually unusable at certain times depending on where you are. We’ve been on the road since the beginning of the year and I have experienced everything from super fast to unusable. I’m currently in north Phoenix and speeds have been usable for streaming, but there’s still a lot of room for improvement here. The three weeks were in Laughlin NV before this were terrible.

RE: winegard SK-3005 troubles.

Did you ask winegard if they would sell you the cables? They sold me the thin coax that goes between the turret and the LNB.

RE: New Class A Buyer with Questions

I don’t know of very many resources to determine what a coach actually sold for. PPL’s website is the only one I know of that does this.: https://www.pplmotorhomes.com/sold-rvs

RE: RV A/C in Arizona summer heat?

I’m in phoenix as we speak and the temps are finally in the 70s. I have two a/c units and the one over the main living space ran nearly all day yesterday and it was losing ground. It’s not so much the ambient air temp as it is the intensity of the sun beating down on the MH. It’s quite impressive.

RE: Direct TV Genie System

Uhhh Bill the HR54 is NOT, I repeat NOT A GENIEII. The HR54 is still a GenieI just a newer model. Like I said I have been told by Direct reps more than once that the GenieII requires a wifi connection to work. If that is wrong, then more than one Direct tech is wrong I guess. . If I look at this sideways, I can see where the DirecTV reps could be technically correct. A wifi connection, or wireless video bridge, is required between the Genie II receiver and the wireless genie mini units. However, this bridge or wifi is integral to the Genie II receiver/server. I also suspect the techs you’ve spoken with are talking about what is needed to get full functionality, similar to what the Winegard people were telling me about my Trav’ler. The only people who truly understand these systems are installers and some users. The corporate call center folks know only what is on their scripts, especially since the acquisition by AT&T. I promise you a third party wifi is not required.

RE: Direct TV Genie System

I am not currently connected to wifi. I don’t know why they would say that. Wifi provides access to certain functions you cannot get without it such as on-demand, but that’s no different than other Genie generations. Winegard told me my Trav’ler was incompatible with Genie II. What they meant was I cannot get 4K with the standard Trav’ler LNB, but otherwise, the Trav’ler works just fine with it. I don’t even need the power inserter since the Genie II receiver has it’s own PI integrated into the receiver.

RE: Direct TV Genie System

Which Genie? If you got a HR44 or HR54 your good to go. If you got a GenieII your screwed. I’m sitting in my motorhome watching news on my genie II as I type this. How am I screwed?

RE: KOA Membership

I purchased a membership last year because we were going to be spending a period of weeks at a KOA during the winter. It turned out their rates for the stay were better than what I got with the membership. That's the only KOA we stay in, so it was a wasted membership for us.
