Towing questions

Hello all, have a few questions for everyone. I've got a 2007 Chevy 2500 with the Duramax I bought new. It has 47k miles on it. I have been hauling a 2014 Open Range 308 bhs with 915 empty hitch, I have 2 6 volts and 2 30 Lb propane bottles on the hitch and a 900 lb Sportsman in the bed. So far no issues, It's been a great setup. My truck has been good so far and I have only needed the tranny lines replaced last year. My wife and I want to get a 2 seat SxS and I'm curious on the payload if I were to put a 2 seater RZR in the bed of my truck. Ramptek for those wondering. My factory payload per the sticker is 2307 with the factory tires and wheels. I have changed the stock wheels and tires. They are 3640 tires and the wheels match. I think I'll be within my limits. Any issues you can think of? I do want a dually as I've had a couple but I might wait seeing as this truck has such low miles. Thanks for any help.

RE: Gas TV for a year long trip

I had my 07.5 deleted at 5k miles and only put the factory pipes back on for emissions at 35k. As long as the tuning is stable like EFI live you would have no issues. I had a Edge Race tuner which was no longer supported so I went back to factory setup in preparation for a new truck in the next decade. New truck I’ll not touch as I’m older and want this truck under any kind of warranty as long as i can. That said I’ve had 1 problem with deleting besides a glow plug and a tranny line. When I would heat soak the engine in the summer idleing I think the lack of a lift pump would collapse my fuel lines when towing. I had a couple loss of power episodes when on the 50 horse tune with turbo brake. Once I went back to the factory tune no issues in 3 years. I am sure a lift pump would have cured it.

RE: I'm seeing a ton of new Silverados and sierras in my town

Yea I saw the pictures. Blaming it on train makeup which I agree with. No reason to have auto racks in front of that kind of weight.

RE: Finally did it. New to me 2017 3500HD gasser

Nice upgrade! I want to eventually do the same with my 07 duramax with 47k on it. Be a sad day but I’ll adapt like you. ??

RE: Fresh water tank oveflow lines will not stop leaking

I installed 90 degree valves on both of my fresh water vent lines, when I see water running out of them I turn off the hose then turn both valves to stop any water loss. Keeps it in the tanks until I get set up camping. Just have to remember to open the valves after a bit of water use so the tanks can vent and not collapse.

RE: 2015 GMC Sierra Denali-catastrophic fuel pump failure

The new ones use a different pump is that correct? My 07.5 has only 47k on it but I will be needing a bigger truck in the next couple years and don’t want to worry about this when I upgrade.

RE: Electricity and electric and magnetic fields (EMFs)

My dad is a ham radio operator and he has had the local power companies fix leaking lines as it affects his radios. They have always been good about fixing the issues.

RE: Boxes for T105 batteries

A couple years ago I went to the local Trojan dealer in Salt Lake for T105’s and left with a battery box instead. I would think Trojan dealers would have 6v boxes you can purchase.

RE: Kawasaki Mule in truck bed, RV trailer towing

I haul a 4wheeler in mine that weighs 900 lbs plus my 1200 lb hitch weight trailer with no issues. You should have enough payload. Check your door sticker. My payload was 2300 with stock 3042 lb tires. I’m better with 3640 lb now. I bet you have more payload than me with the extra cab. Mines a crewcab.

RE: 100% Gasoline vs 10% Ethanol

My wife’s 13 impala doesn’t have the flex fuel badges on the trunk like most impalas have. I just figured someone pulled them off. She was getting around 11 mpg to and from work and I couldn’t figure out why it was so bad on a car that is 18 city 30 hwy. I did a search and saw Chevy offered the car with e85 engines and without. Filled it up with pure gas and her mileage jumped up to 16 mpg on the next tank. That’s all she runs now. I never knew of the engine option.
