RE: Good 3rd party Truck Camper insurance?

Insurance for my Arctic Fox was $529 a year. With the covid and less income, i let it lapse this year. It was through progressive. Seems quite high to me.

RE: Frost free hydrant for potable water

Its going to be about 75 ft from the house near my unheated shop. No basements here. I use the RV off and on all year round. I currently pull over by the house to fill the tanks or run 100ft of hose to the rv at the staging spot. I want water over by the shop so that's going to happen either way. I see now that a frost free is not going to solve all needs, so I will just need to do the frost free then leave a stub for a standard spigot I can keep from freezing.

RE: Frost free hydrant for potable water

Lots of good info here. I suppose I could put a ground box in and a sealed hydrant with the option to put heat tape on it should it get too cold. I will probably put a cheap frost free one in for washing cars and the RV.

RE: Frost free hydrant for potable water

Clay soil here. I will have to dig a bigger hole and fill it with sand. No issue with ground water where I am placing it. I will send an email or call Woodford Monday. Thanks

Frost free hydrant for potable water

I plan to run water to a location by our driveway. Same area has power and sewer. I was looking at frost free hydrants but wonder if there is a particular brand that is safe for drinking water. It would be nice to have a one stop location to prep the RV before or after trips.

RE: How inconvenient is a cargo trailer?

I have an arctic fox camper with the fox landing. Works perfect with my 20 ft cargo trailer. Easy access to the trailer and I don't even need to disconnect at the camp site if its a pull through. Tows nice, but as with any towing situation, planning at the fuel stops is necessary work. I have a diesel, so I just go for the truck lanes most of the time.

RE: Want to replace my Thetford toilet with Dometic 320

I got the 310 dometic installed today. Works well and the way it rinses the bowl is so much nicer. Had the same one it turns out in my previous rig. Never had an issue with it.

Rear Window Pass Through Boot

In anticipation the world will open again, i want to prep for summer and finally get a seal so I can leave the windows open between the camper and truck. Do we have any consensus on what works best?

RE: Want to replace my Thetford toilet with Dometic 320

Found a good deal on a 310 with slow close wood seat and sprayer. Should be a nice upgrade and easier to maintain. Just saw your post. I have silicone based plumbers lube. I can deal with the dometic, I just dont like the thetford seal replacement method.

RE: Want to replace my Thetford toilet with Dometic 320

No worries, i might just get a 310.

Hmm, that might not be an easy thing to move.

RE: Want to replace my Thetford toilet with Dometic 320

Great to hear the 320 will work on 10" bolt locations. I might try the white vinegar thing. Can't get it to hold water at all now. I cleaned it and added plumbers grease today but it still leaks pretty fast. I think I will just order a new Dometic from amazon and get the sprayer option. If this Covid situation ever clears up, I want to be ready. Thank you!

RE: Want to replace my Thetford toilet with Dometic 320

Yes, in the bowl where you expect to see it when you lift the lid. I have cleaned and used plumbers grease with no luck. Are you saying you have the Dometic 320?

Want to replace my Thetford toilet with Dometic 320

I bought my camper a little over a year ago. The Thetford Aqua Magic Style II that came in it is ok, but will randomly leak all the water in the tank and the camper begins to stink. After reading about swapping the seal not being plug and play I think I would prefer to get a Dometic 320 like was in my previous camper. My flange bolts are 10" from the back wall. There is 1 1/4" space between the back of the toilet and the wall. I see the Dometic calls for 10 1/2" to the back wall. Am I out of luck, or is the space behind my current one enough for the Dometic to fit?

RE: Anyone with the Ford 6.2 Carrying TC

I have seen between 8 and 12 mpg with my F450 traveling below 65mph. Wind seems to determine how low it goes. If your getting over 11 thats pretty amazing. Granted my camper is bigger. I am seriously considering a 7.3 to get my payload number up. With the lower cost of gas vs diesel, lower mpg might be a wash.

RE: Funny, sad and embarrassing.....

I keep mine in a fairly wind tight and minimally (1/2" foam) insulated shop. I leave the heater on set at 45 degrees. I can promise you I would have forgotten about that if I had a cover on mine. Lucky it looks easy enough to patch.

RE: Are RV shows worth it?

Wow, thanks for all the replies. I think we will go to a couple that are not too far away this winter. We don't winterize the TC so its always ready for action. We had a busy year and are now free to do more short week long trips. We enjoy looking at different types and floorplans. Never know when we will be in the mood to try something new. We had a 25ft Forrest River Solera for 4 years before getting our current rig.

Are RV shows worth it?

We are happy with our current setup. We still like looking at other types and are wondering if traveling to one of the upcoming shows would be worth doing. Is it much better than going to a large RV dealer?

RE: When will the 2020 Ford Super Duty show up?

If I was going to replace my F450 I would get a gas F350 for the added payload. Diesel is great power but I hate dealing with filling it. Not wanting to start a gas vs diesel argument here. Just my personal preference.

RE: Starlink supposedly will be available in 2020

I'm gonna sign up as soon as possible. Using my att cell data is often sketchy. Being able to have internet every where I go so I can stream shows will be great. Yes i will need to make sure I have clear sight to the sky. Easy enough. My home internet costs a lot for the slow speed I get. I'll be happy to ditch that service asap.
