RE: Are RV shows worth it?

Wow, thanks for all the replies. I think we will go to a couple that are not too far away this winter. We don't winterize the TC so its always ready for action. We had a busy year and are now free to do more short week long trips. We enjoy looking at different types and floorplans. Never know when we will be in the mood to try something new. We had a 25ft Forrest River Solera for 4 years before getting our current rig.

Are RV shows worth it?

We are happy with our current setup. We still like looking at other types and are wondering if traveling to one of the upcoming shows would be worth doing. Is it much better than going to a large RV dealer?

RE: When will the 2020 Ford Super Duty show up?

If I was going to replace my F450 I would get a gas F350 for the added payload. Diesel is great power but I hate dealing with filling it. Not wanting to start a gas vs diesel argument here. Just my personal preference.

RE: Starlink supposedly will be available in 2020

I'm gonna sign up as soon as possible. Using my att cell data is often sketchy. Being able to have internet every where I go so I can stream shows will be great. Yes i will need to make sure I have clear sight to the sky. Easy enough. My home internet costs a lot for the slow speed I get. I'll be happy to ditch that service asap.

RE: What percent of the time do you leave your TC on your truck?

I finally bought a second vehicle for my occasional need. Now the TC stays on the truck unless I need it for something. Both are stored inside. I use the camper at least once a month so easier to have it ready for action.

RE: Carport

We bought an RV that sat outside for two years because it would not fit in my 10ft tall shop. Last year I built a new building and made sure it was tall enough for anything I wanted to park in it. 14ft doors. I like many know the frustration of having a roof that is just a little too short.

RE: 2WD or 4X4 for a truck camper

2x4 is fine for most cases, 4x4 is better in a few cases. It really comes down to personal preference and what you plan to do. I drive a 4x4 now, previous trucks were 2x4. Was happy then, still happy now.

RE: Hitch Extenders

I'm surprised your trailer is that light when filled. Does it use an aluminum frame? My 20' trailer was 3500 lbs before I even start loading it and typically travels between 6000-8000 lbs based on what we bring along. It's 3400 unloaded. I use it to haul my 1700lb RZR and a few bicycles. With the weight distribution hitch (required by my extension) it's pretty much 5500lbs. I wanted an aluminum one but would have had to order. I wanted it sooner so just went with a local offering.

RE: Planing on getting an Arctic Fox TC

When I was looking, Northern Lite was at the top of our list. Wife really loved them. In the end, the size of the holding tanks and external storage is what led us to choose an Arctic Fox. Bought it in January, used it a lot and no regrets. All RV's can leak if you don't maintain them. I would just plan to inspect it regularly and not worry about that.

RE: any "must have option"? Midwest 2020 custom F350 gasser

RE: 2020 Ford - 6 speed for 6.2 ... rundown engine/tranny

I like how in that jalopnik article, they were struggling to see how you could need that much payload. They could have looked at any of Hosts offerings and had their answer. Even my lowly AF1140 with a 5k trailer in tow would eat up a sizeable chunk of that payload. The rest of it would be eaten up by 4 doors and leather heated and cooled seats.

RE: 2020 Ford - 6 speed for 6.2 ... rundown engine/tranny

Where did you find that number? I am looking to see what max payload might be with that engine.

RE: Andersen WD Hitch on 4' Supertruss - Part 2

I think I will try this one for my first ever WD hitch. Just pulling 5k but my cannon requires it for over 3300lbs.

RE: Clean Trucks? Electric Truck?

I liken diesel power with exhaust brake to electric power and regen to keep the speed down. I am firmly in the give me a capable electric truck and I will switch from my F450 in a heartbeat. I don't think it's that far in the future.

RE: Want an electric truck?

Biggest current issue for towing electric is most chargers are for backing in. Without a way to pull along side the charger, it would be an annoying adventure. I bet if Ford releases an electric truck with any towing capability, you will see a big increase in pull through charging stations.

RE: Want an electric truck?

There is a lot of new auto tech that starts in the upper price range. Given time, electrics (or whatever they evolve into) will be more affordable. Range will go up, charging time will go down. Will Tesla be the brand that dominates the market? I would be surprised. Any major manufacturer could change focus and dominate. I don't own an electric, I am just hopeful they evolve and replace fossil fuels.

RE: Want an electric truck?

No question electric vehicles are here to stay. Will they take over, maybe, but I bet we still have ICE vehicles long into the future. One day we will see a new battery that will really change the equation. In the meantime i will continue to pump Diesel in my F450 and dream of the day I can replace it with electric.

RE: Want an electric truck?

That Fast Lane video was just a preview of what towing electric might look like. I bet when Tesla or Ford release a truck, it will have a lot more available energy.
