RE: 2001 Damon Intruder rear view mirror

You should still be able to order a new one from Velvac. https://www.velvac.com/products/mirrors/shop-rv-mirrors But the chances of finding one to match your paint will be a huge challenge.

Yosemite campsites available right now - short notice

Yosemite campsites available right now if you can go on short notice. Yosemite was closed due to flooding. All campsite reservations in Yosemite Valley were cancelled. The remaining portions were released Sunday morning and most people don't know that they are open. Now that they are back open, there are a bunch of open sites this week if you can go on short notice. We will be there three night starting Friday!

RE: Folding Cedar shower mat?

A friend of a friend made a bunch of mats very similar to this one on amazon. He literally made them from used boards from pallets. Just sanded them, drilled them, and used cord with spacers. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B09HHJ8J1K/ref=sspa_dk_detail_2?psc=1&pf_rd_p=9f074495-da4d-4e1c-b407-69e85fa47fdb&pf_rd_r=3S3HRF1NJN2NQZ1TZE0E&pd_rd_wg=e2Rnt&pd_rd_w=U4Wge&content-id=amzn1.sym.9f074495-da4d-4e1c-b407-69e85fa47fdb&pd_rd_r=58a195ea-b939-4ca3-990c-724ef7b816ef&s=kitchen&sp_csd=d2lkZ2V0TmFtZT1zcF9kZXRhaWxfdGhlbWF0aWM&spLa=ZW5jcnlwdGVkUXVhbGlmaWVyPUE3Q0daMDFHWkRCMzUmZW5jcnlwdGVkSWQ9QTAzNzA1NzEyWlVNWkVCRVo2UUtGJmVuY3J5cHRlZEFkSWQ9QTA0OTA4ODBYM0RUMU9ESkpGRUYmd2lkZ2V0TmFtZT1zcF9kZXRhaWxfdGhlbWF0aWMmYWN0aW9uPWNsaWNrUmVkaXJlY3QmZG9Ob3RMb2dDbGljaz10cnVl

RE: Yosemite National Park campgrounds

Campgrounds inside the park: First half of August go on sale on March 15th. Second half of August go on sale on April 15th. North Pines is the only campground that uses the lottery system. Details: https://www.nps.gov/yose/planyourvisit/camping.htm There are not a lot of campgrounds/RV parks close to Yosemite Valley. Any of them would probably be an hour or more away. Here are the options inside the park: https://www.nps.gov/yose/planyourvisit/campgrounds.htm I did luck out and got a three night reservation in May in Upper Pines! Campsites will sell out in minutes. But the campground that I'm using the night before we go into Yosemite is two hour drive away.

RE: Ford V10 starting and dyeing

Does the Class A chassis have the same fuel tank and fuel pump as the Class C models? It sounds very much like what happened to us when the fuel pump went out on our E450.

RE: I-10 east from Inland Empire:refresh my memory

According to CalTrans, I-10 has a full emergency closure East of Palm Springs right now. "Due to Emergency Work No estimated time for reopening of closure." I-10 does have lower elevation than I-8. I-10 highest elevation: 2600ish Feet. I-8 highest elevation: 4000ish Feet.

RE: Is there such a thing a decent valve extender?

One warning on the Borg/Dually Valves. Some tire shops have tire machines that are not set up to accommodate this style valve stem. They either set the tire/wheel down on the stem, or force the wheel onto the tire machine. What happens is that bends the valve stem. Then it won't fit in the rubber stabilizer when the wheel is back on the hub. Every time I get new tires, it is a chore to convince them not to bend the valve stems.

RE: Pleated shower door

I'm guessing you have something very similar or the same as what I have in my RV. Does it look like this? https://cdn11.bigcommerce.com/s-kwuh809851/images/stencil/608x608/products/370/1857/shower-door-top-track-2448__64334.1520870519.jpg?c=2 I don't recall any mounting hardware anywhere but on the sides where it mounts to each side of the shower. I think the top plastic/metal rail and the bottom plastic rail are only held in place with sealant. You might try contacting Irvine Shade and Door or RecPro. They both make pleated shower doors.

RE: Bed Lift Solution

This is not about struts. It is about a different type of lift, as in the link below. I have not found an rv source or solution, yet. The link does not even have a mechanism source. “Serie Komodo Easy” platform storage bed Let's answer the OP's question! Italian company https://lampolet.com/1/platform-bed-storage-mechanism_komodo_easy/ And not cheap! https://sedie.design/us/serie-komodo-lampolet And the sizes are metric.

RE: hwy 140 from Merced to Yosemite...any advice?

Just a thought... Can you go a day earlier and beat the snow? I assume you are going this week since you are looking at current weather forecasts. There are open sites in Upper Pines every day this week. The good news for Hwy 140 is that it stays below 4000 feet till you get close to the Yosemite Valley. And it's the lowest elevation route into the park.

RE: One night boondock at Quartzsite

Directions to Scaddan Wash: Exit I-10 at exit 19. Turn South on Riggles Ave. Turn left (Eastbound) at T intersection - Kuehn St / Dome Rock Rd East (Kuehn St will take you directly to the big tent) Follow Dome Rock Rd East till it comes back parallel to I-10. (Do not go into the first dirt road before you get back to I-10 – its long term where you have to pay.) Turn right when you get to the sign for Scaddan Wash 14 Day Area. Google Maps says entrance road/host site is 33124 Dome Rock Rd E, Quartzsite, AZ 85346. Lots of flat areas to camp, go in as far as you wish. Not sure if you need to check in with host.

RE: One night boondock at Quartzsite

Try this link: https://freecampsites.net/#!quartzsite,az I think Scaddan Wash would be closest to I-10. And it's close to the big tent with easy access. But there are a number of free choices in the Quartzsite area.

RE: Dometic Oasis 975 door awning help

There should be a Stabilus part number on the gas shocks. And Stabilus still makes gas shocks.

RE: RV Queen to Regular Queen Mod Challenge: Floor Heater Vent

I have not done this in an R.V., but I have in home remodeling. Here's an example. Just add a 90 Degree Rectangular Elbow and a new grill. 3 X 10 90 Degree duct Another option would be "L" brackets to support the extension instead of extending the box.

RE: Campground near Yosemite in July

Keep in mind that if you stay outside the park, you will need to plan on time to drive there, wait in line at an entrance station, and then try to find a parking space (If there are any available). Yosemite traffic and parking Just reading that page is making me reconsider my plans for my arrival in May!!

RE: Route into Yosemite Valley

Well.... two people have already answered take the detour vs. the climb and another said it's a wash. One thing I've learned in 20 years here is never volunteer too much information when asking for advice. Saying things like "I really smoked my brakes in the mountains" is guaranteed to open yourself up to unsolicited advice. If you really want to have fun and see reactions, admit that you tow a 39' fifth wheel with a half-ton over in the Towing forums... ;) Point taken! And you are correct about how many threads on this forum take a hard turn from the original topic.

RE: Route into Yosemite Valley

Answers: No, I do not have a tow mode. I do have an overdrive on/off switch on the shifter. No, I do not ride the brakes. I brake firmly and release and coast. Yes, this section works out to 4.356% grade. But it's still 10 miles of a 4.356% grade. Once again, I was not asking how to drive in the mountains. I was not aware of the grade or the distance until after I was already on it. And there are only a few places to pull off in those 10 miles. The question I asked was: Which route would you take to get to Yosemite Valley from I-5 Southbound? The one that is shorter, but climbs to over 6300 ft. (Hwy 120). Or the longer route that never goes over 4000 ft. and only takes about 25 - 30 minutes longer. (Hwy 140).
