RE: RV Refrigerators Cooling Issues

There’s a slide for the table, but the refrigerator isn’t in the slide.

RE: RV Refrigerators Cooling Issues

Thanks for all the information and advice. We’ve been in contact with a repair tech from the dealer. He had us try it on propane.. Didnt work, then had us unplug it inside the fridge to see if it to bypass the thermostat and work on a timer situation. Sorry if I’m not saying it correctly. But that’s not working either. Going to call them back and see what we’ll need. Yes, the fridge has worked sporadically. Worked fine first camping trip in May, then every trip it was something, when we plugged in it at home, it wouldn’t work, then once we got to campground and plugged it in, it would work. Dealer looked at it after June trip, they plugged it in and it got cold and worked perfectly for them. TT is brand new, picked it up April this year.

RE: RV Refrigerators Cooling Issues

Thanks for the replies. Seems like an issue with the ‘board’ in the refrigerator. Dealer had us try on propane, not working here either.

RE: RV Refrigerators Cooling Issues

We’ve been having issues with our new TT Norcold refrigerator not keeping things cold, quit working and warming up. What’s the best way to keep these cold, first off is making sure the TT is level? Thank you in advance You have been told multiple times in your other posts about this same issue. YES, Level works best. Absorbsion fridges use gravity to move the coolant inside the tubes, gravity only works best when the tubing is in the correct orientation. Yes, it is possible to run a absorbsion fridge out of level, but by doing so you are not going to get full capacity operation. Out of level operation can also starve the boiler tank which can lead to overheating of the solution inside the tubing. Overheating the solution leads to the solution to break down, crystalize and block the smaller but important tubes leading to intermittent operation and finally a fully blocked system with no cooling at all. Repeated out of level operation can and will damage your unit permanently. Your goal is to setup your RV so the inside bottom or one of the shelving in the fridge indicates level. Measuring level anywhere else can be done but sometimes the fridge may not be plumb and level with the rest of the RV. How to read a level? Simple, the goal is to keep the little bubble inside the level between the center goal posts. https://i.imgur.com/CZdu1evl.jpg In the pix, you want the bubble to be in between the blue arrows. If the bubble edge crosses outside of the blue arrows, you are now out of level. Absorbsion fridges are also not very fast in cooling, may take up to 24 hrs to stabilize from start. They are slow to recovery, open the door for a minute and may take several hrs to recover. Load room temp items in it and it may take several hrs to recover. Load entire fridge with room temp items and it may take 24 hrs to stabilize. You also do not want to pack a RV fridge tight, doing so blocks the natural air flow inside the fridge resulting in uneven distribution of the cold air (remember, a RV fridge works on gravity and that includes the inside portion of the fridge). Perhaps you might be better off switching to a compressor fridge and add a few batteries? TT Is Level! YES. I know how to read a level. Thanks but this isn’t the issue

RV Refrigerators Cooling Issues

We’ve been having issues with our new TT Norcold refrigerator not keeping things cold, quit working and warming up. I’ve been watching a few YouTube videos. These new RV refrigerators are ‘gas/electric, absorption’ refrigerators, they can’t be filled full, some ppl have set a mini fan blowing inside on the fans. Teach me about these. What’s the best way to keep these cold, first off is making sure the TT is level? What about starting off on propane, I heard propane keeps it colder? Most of the time we put a bunch of beverages in the refrigerator to get cold, Should we be putting beverages in the outside refrigerator to keep cold? Thank you in advance

RE: Favorite foods to make bulk and freeze for the road?

I make breakfast burritos. I cook up sausage, egg, frozen hash browns w/ onions and peppers, can of green chilies. Put in tortilla with cheese wrap separate with saran wrap then freeze in freezer bag. Heat with just a damp paper towel in microwave. Serve with green salsa. Perfect for the day your traveling. I also make ahead shredded pork or beef package for two add BBQ sauce. Meatloaf, Lasagna, enchiladas, chili, etc. I now use a Ninja 6-1 doesn't heat up RV and you can cook anything on it. I also have a PC sometimes take it. Great ideas! Going have to check out the Ninja 6-1

RE: Waste Tank Tote-Along Transport Question

What brand and model portable waste tank do you have? On our Thetford SmartTote2 LX, the handle folds down against the bottom of the tank so it's held in place between the ladder and the tank. It’s a Camco 42 gallon, it’s the blue one, I think there’s a new model. The handle does fold down against itself, but there’s also a pin that it can be removed.

Waste Tank Tote-Along Transport Question

We just installed a waste tank rack on the back of the TT, do you recommend removing the handle when traveling? Thank you

RE: Favorite foods to make bulk and freeze for the road?

I make chili, soups, and cabbage rolls, and now that I can store more, I'm looking for easy, quick, delicious menu items I can make at home, and pack for the road. Whadya got? I’m a sucker for tomato-based sauces and Italian food in general so in my case I make Marinara sauce to my taste, then freeze it in single serving ‘sauce-cicles’. If I’m travelling solo (as I usually am) one makes a meal, otherwise one per person. To that I add whatever pasta, rice, potato I want any any meat that’s convenient. It’s surprisingly good over a crumbled burger patty & fries, rice & meatballs (premodern at home also), a ham steak & boiled patties, etc, etc, the list goes on forever. Best of all, however I want to serve it, I can have a home-cooked (literally) meal in 15 minutes while on the road. Great idea! I’ve never made homemade marinara or spaghetti sauce.

RE: Wheel Stop vs Wheel Chocks

Thanks everyone. I appreciate the replies and information. I’m going keep using the yellow tire chocks. I wasn’t sure if something else was much better

Wheel Stop vs Wheel Chocks

What’s the general consensus of what’s best to use, regular wheel chocks or the wheel stops? I don’t see many people using the wheel stops. Thank you in advance

RE: Camco Tri-Leveler or Camco Curved Leveler?

I use these when needed. https://www.beech-lane.com/camper-levelers So far they've been great. I don't use then all the time though. Sometimes I just use one Linx block under one tire. That gives me 3/4" lift to that side. I use X chocks with the Linx. I also have the Level Mate Pro. Once I'm backed in I can see what side needs to go up and exactly how much and which device I need for leveling. It also give me a recall height for hitching back up and I can set front to back for level. I sit in the truck and while backing up can see the App readout to determine when it level. 20-30 secs is all thats needed. The nice thing about the curved levelers is you get several inches of adjustment all in one vs packing a bunch of different height wood. Or you can go old school if in the dirt and just dig down in the dirt for the high side. Going old school. Lol. It definitely would work. That LevelMatePro looks awesome. I’m going get one probably not till next year. Thank you for the information

RE: Favorite foods to make bulk and freeze for the road?

MEATLOAF! I love meatloaf so I always make about 5 lbs in 2 loaves. I slice it in portions, wrap each in alum foil then freeze them in ziplock bag. I can have a meatloaf sandwich or ad veggies and have meatloaf dinner in minutes. You can also buy frozen White Castles in the grocery. Last camping trip, I made meatloaf muffins, I have a muffin tin that makes 6 larger muffins, I just put the meatloaf in them. I froze them after they were cooked, these were great for camping

Camco Tri-Leveler or Camco Curved Leveler?

Looking at some levelers. The most popular user friendly seem to be either the Camco Tri-Leveler or Curved Leveler? Any recommendations for a dual axle 25ft TT? Thank you in advance

RE: KZ Connect C231RBKSE Refrigerator Quit Working

Woke up this morning at camp and the refrigerator is cold and freezer is working Unbelievable? Once we get home I’m going to get a pigtail type of 30 to 15 adapter And not use the little black adapter.

RE: KZ Connect C231RBKSE Refrigerator Quit Working

Thank you. I will level it. The dealer told us to turn the battery off when at home I. The driveway and turn it on when we’re traveling and turned on at the campsite? I made sure the cord to the camper was plugged in and the ring tightened. It’s just weird when it was plugged in Thursday and it got cold and was cold yesterday and then this morning it was warm. The suggestion to turn off the battery was assuming two things: 1. You aren't "using" it at home (i.e. fridge is off) 2. You aren't plugged in. Turn the battery on unless your trailer is in storage. While you can use the 12V power from the 120V AC->12V DC converter when the 120V power cord is plugged in, it's possible the converter may need a battery in the circuit to smooth out the 12V. If the converter is making a noisy 12V supply with the battery off the fridge control board may be glitching out and shutting off. Thank you. I turned the battery o yesterday afternoon and had refrigerator on and nothing this morning. Only thing we’ve been using at home is one of the little black cord adapters, I switched it out to a different one. I’ve seen the 30 to 15 pigtail type of cords, don’t know if these are any different or better? I also tried running it off propane this morning and it wouldn’t work. Just went to red light after about 30 seconds

RE: KZ Connect C231RBKSE Refrigerator Quit Working

Thanks everyone. But this refrigerator thing is a big headache. It didn’t get cold at home, but went camping plugged it in and ice cold. Took it into the dealer, it got cold no problems. Tomorrow we’re heading out and I plugged it in Thursday afternoon, got cold, yesterday was cold. Went out and checked it this morning and it’s warm. ??? So I plugged it into another outlet and waiting. The battery is turned off like we were told when it’s parked in the driveway. I had the refrigerator on Auto Electric. The 3 options are Auto Electric, Electric and Propane. We did get some rain during the night but no lightning and no power loss. It’s humid now. I’m at a loss? OK, Works at dealer. Works at campground. Does not work in your driveway.. How "level" is your driveway? Very few driveways are level, some more out of level than others. https://i.imgur.com/PV478Bcl.jpg If your level bubbles are not inside the lines like the phot above, you are operating the fridge out of level. In spite of what the fridge manufacturer may state (and lots of folks on this forum) RV absorbsion fridges do not work well or at all once you get part of the bubble outside the lines (out of level operation). When camping, you obviously had your RV fairly level. When at the dealer, fair chance the trailer was sitting on fairly level spot.. Level the RV, plug in your shore cord, make sure you have 120V at the fridge, leave the battery turned on, wait 12hrs and check to see if fridge is cooling. Thank you. I will level it. The dealer told us to turn the battery off when at home I. The driveway and turn it on when we’re traveling and turned on at the campsite?
