RE: New Thor motorhome towing guide

I had a truck with a 10,000# hitch because it happened to be on sale. I knew the truck was not rated to to 10K but it saved me money. Do the math and be safe.

RE: Mt Rushmore and Yellostone National Park

Yellowstone area - Yellowstone Grizzly RV Park
Jackson - Fireside Resort
Mt Rushmore - Happy Holiday RV Resort
Black Hills KOA
I've stayed at each one and they are great. I wasn't trying to save money on the parking at the time.

RE: Foolish Things We’ve Done as Kids

Let's see. This firecracker didn't go off, it's okay to hold in hand. Right, until it went off.
We didn't need a padded dash.
Grandmom had a 57 Chevy Impala. The back window dash was big enough to sleep in while riding to somewhere.
Let's ride in the back of Granddad's pickup and throw tomatoes at stuff.
Let's throw firecrackers at cars going down the street. Unfortunately one landed on the windshield of a car. When we got home, found out it was the fire chiefs car and he knew where we lived. Real small town in Texas.
Oh so much more...

RE: 1995 Bounder 36' increasing towing cap 3500 to 5,000 lbs

Adding a larger capacity hitch will not increase the tow capacity of the MH. The engine, transmission, brakes, frame, etc go into calculating the tow capacity which is provided by the manufacturer. You can search how to increase tow capacity.
As for the Explorer, it cannot be towed on a tow dolly as it is a rear wheel drive vehicle when not in 4 wheel. Check the owners manual for recreational towing procedures. There are other factors to consider for towing. Year, transfer case, transmission, etc.
Just my two cent opinion..

RE: WHAT dinghy or toad is good to tow ???

I have a 07 Jeep Liberty. Looking to get a Jeep Wrangler. If in a hurry, can unhook in less than 5 min. Easy to hook up too. Blue Ox base plate and tow bar. Demco Stay n Play break assist.

Shower walls

Has anyone replaced their shower walls? I have a crack in mine and want to replace it. It is a corner unit.
What did you use? I looked at Lowes and found a residential surround. I know I will have to figure out the faucet stuff and I have an idea about that.

RE: Cost to install apparatus for Flat-towing

I use the Demco (SMI) Stay and Play brake system. It stays in place. Flip and on/off switch when hooking up. Works great.

RE: Updating my GPS

The model of your infotainment system with the GPS would help. Found this using Google. It might help - http://www.winnebagoind.com/resources/wiu/pdfs/XSNARM_Winnebago_X1_FamilyFeatures_QSG.pdf

RE: tax writeoffs for full timers who work from road

Hi Folks
need advice from those who have experiencewith this issue. My wife and i are full timers, and we both have businesses. (she sells buttons & designer fabrics, I do websites and e-marketing consulting)
We are wondering how people in our situation are handling such things as rv park and camping fees, fuel costs, maintenance, repairs. We have chosen not to write off the actual cost of the rv. And, does anyone know of any other online resources for info, eg technomadia?
thanks!!
You need a new tax guy. He should know or get the information you need. irs.gov for publications.
This is for all who are self-employed: Get Publications 334, 535, and 529. These will answer those questions. It is what I use for all that stuff. I do not rely on a "tax professional" only. My CPA is often called with questions.
You may also have local and state taxes to deal with. This will depend on where your clients and maybe you are when conducting business. Example: if you are in California and earn money they want their cut...
When in doubt check it out..

RE: Cost to install apparatus for Flat-towing

We tow a Jeep Liberty and purchased a Blue Ox baseplate and towbar with everything needed for about 2500.00 installed. Works great. This included the Demco SMI Stay and Play brake assist.

RE: Iowa Campgrounds

I've been reading several articles and an RV group on Facebook about the Covid-19 stuff.
There is a lot of information being presented. Some good but most is not. IMO. Facebook is not a reliable news source. IMO. This post is my opinion and most are not going like most of this. Too bad.
I realize that there are carriers of this virus, as with the flu and others, that are unaware. But there does not need to be any berating of people. If you berate then you are ..........
These stay at home orders come from people we elected. They are listening to others. They are NOT using common sense. "Locking down" a state and expecting the streets to be vacant like those in a 1950s nuclear war movie is not going to happen.
Many RV parks and campgrounds have been closed. Why not apartment complexes? RVs in a campground or RV park are probably more "stay at home" because there are no hallways to navigate. Fulltimers, or even those that are part time, are like apartment dwellers. They just take the apartment with them.
There is more I'd say but..
Stay safe..
