RE: Towing help

I took a ride to scale the scale and now have the true weight of the truck only. Opinions? RE: Towing help

Well now I’m felling pretty foolish. When I weighed the truck by itself I dropped the trailer on the scale. So of course the trailer weight from the tongue jack is included in the truck weights. Need to take a ride back with the truck alone. Stay tuned. Thanks for helping me work through this….

RE: Towing help

When I purchased the trailer the dealer set up my hitch from my prior trailer (Equalizer). I have some sway at times that I attribute to passing trucks or the wind but on 2 separate occasions I had sway events that made me very uncomfortable. Because of that I took the unit to the scales. So between these numbers and the 25% weight distribution I felt like some change needs to be made. These are the weights: Truck only/unhooked Front axle 4,820 Rear axle 4,940 9,760 Trailer axles 8,380 No Weight Distribution Front axle 4,380 Rear axle 5,380 9,760 Trailer axles 8,180 With Weight Distribution Front axle 4,640 Rear axle 4,920 9,560 Trailer axles 8,480

Towing help

I have a 2019 Ford F-250 and recently purchased a 2021 Salem Hemisphere travel trailer. I’m struggling with the tongue weight. I had a 25’ Cruiser Shadow and no problem there as it had pass thru front storage. All storage on the new trailer is behind the axles. I have an equalizer hitch (10 “ shank using its lowest setting) and have adjusted the weight distribution but the best I can get is 25% with my current setup. I have the L bars installed at their lowest point and I have 4 washers on the hitch (I know I shouldn’t use more than 3). The trailer is about 1/2” lower in the front. I have taken the unit to a scale and my tongue weight is -300. In my storage I don’t believe anything out of the ordinary but my next move is to remove everything and reweigh. I am thinking I need a lower shank but hoping someone here can help guide me. Lenny

RE: Draining gray after black tank washer/black tank combo

Well, that makes sense. I do have the black tank flush and that will take care of it. Thanks for that!

Draining gray after black tank washer/black tank combo

I have always tried to drain a near full gray tank after the black tank. We recently purchased a 2021 Salem Hemisphere with washer/dryer and the black tank shares the outlet with the washer drain. We don’t always use the washer when it is time to drain the black so wondering if anyone has a way around this.

RE: EZ Pass with and without trailer

I’m in MA and was told the same thing WNYBob is saying. I have 2 EZ passes and need to switch between them for truck alone and truck and trailer.

RE: Jack it bike rack

I have one and it was fine on my 2018 Shadow Cruiser. A little tricky getting the back bike on and off but managable. Now we traded our trailer in for a 2021 Salem Hemisphere and it won’t work. The trailer front is bulbous and the front bike is too close to the back of truck to allow turning. If it fits your rig would suggest using it. Just make sure it will fit. Lenny

RE: Small wireless laser printer/scanner/copier

Not a laser and Pricey but if you’re going to use it on the road as much as I do it’s worth the price: https://www.amazon.com/HP-OfficeJet-250-Portable-Wireless/dp/B01HGD8R5S/ref=sr_1_2?dchild=1&keywords=hp+mobile+printer+250+all+in+one&qid=1616198948&sr=8-2

RE: Paddle board / kayak rack

How long is your TV BBC? I have seen T shaped racks that pin in the receiver. Add a arch at front of bed, and a idiot hitch. With toys over cab, could overhang front 2-3 feet without issue. If a kayak is in the center, it does not need clearance to turn, only for drive axle to drop in a dip. We have a 07 Dmax 6.5 bed - I do have a receiver up front Well that tells me nothing. Assuming normal 1 ton sedan with no trunk lid, I will trump that from front bumper to front of bed will be more than 10 feet. Also assume front of trailer is 4 ft behind the cab, a 14 ft load sticking 18 inches past front bumper would be no issue. Now I can't say how close the toy would need to ride to keep your OAL legal. Maybe this: https://vertiyak.com/products/vertiyak Tell me how this would work. Kayak 14 feet long. You mount it with 1 end on the ground. The other end is sticking half a foot above the max legal height. And given that limit may be enforced by bridges, wires, and trees won't get away with it for long. You are correct, I missed the length.

RE: Cell phone signal Booster ?

I really like the 65 for getting a directional antenna way up in the air and aiming it right at a cell tower. Here's Weboost's latest RV booster.... but it's your choice. Weboost Drive Reach Thanks for that. Looking at the reviews some people found that the mounting brackets for the Pole didn’t work so well, have you had that problem?

RE: Cell phone signal Booster ?

So now I am looking at the Weboost RV 65. Is that what you folks are using or do you have another recommendation? -Lenny

RE: Solar Tax Credit

LOL, yes he is.

RE: Solar Tax Credit

The solar credit is for your main home only. The mortgage interest deduction applies to a primary residence and second home. Your travel trailer would qualify as a second residence for the interest deduction but there is no credit for solar installations on a second home. I believe that is where the confusion comes from. I hope this helps. Lenny

RE: Outdoor Storage and Snow

I’m wondering if the vents in the A/C unit will leak with the snow on top.

RE: Medicare Questions

Medicare will become primary payer for your wife and your health plan at work will function as supplemental insurance. As en let an said, start looking now for the insurance you will need when you leave the company. If the plan you choose does not cover both of you then you can get your wife a Medicare supplement policy and separate insurance for you. You will need to compare to see which is most cost effective.
