RE: Fuel economy and additives

I did find an engine manual and ACTUALLY read it. The computer in the engine is basically tuned for unleaded 87. It will automatically adjust, so I won't put good money or unleaded real gas in there if it will not help. Boy....not like the old days. Computers are taking care of alot. I have some miles to do this summer so will keep track of mileage and gas used.

RE: Fuel economy and additives

So now i am trying to chase down a owners manual for a 2008 Triton V10. All Google does is route me to their highest paying advertisers or send me to some site that wants me to download their softwre on my PC....year. right...like i will do that. I do need a PDF of a 2008 Triton engine if some some can send me a link without installing porn or some other cookie on my PC...LOL!

RE: Fuel economy and additives

WOW. an RV full of info. would moving up the octane to 89 help or would that just add more cost for 50 gal. I am using 87.

Fuel economy and additives

I drive a Forest River Georgetown w 4 slides an a V10 Triton gs engine. Typically i drive 62-65 mph on the hwy. I will be doing a gas log of my fuel economy, but I think it is 7.5 mpg fully loaded. I do use regular unleaded gas ($2.25 per gal in Tulsa area now). Questions: 1. Do fuel additives work and which ones do and don't. Fillups are around 50 gallons on a 75 gal tank. 2. Is going to 100% gas (no ethanol) cost effective?. 3. My Class A is 2008 (11 years old) with 53,000 miles. Is it time for a tune up and what gets tuned up? Spark plugs, injectors, wires? I am not a mechanic and am only guessing. What works and what doesn't? The Bluegrass Boy.

RE: Any experience renting out your motorhome?

We rent out our class A when we are not using it. Outdoorsy charges the renter extra for the insurance, and it is full coverage. They also screen the renter. We want it to cover our expenses and depreciation. So far so good.We have not had any problems except for thing going wrong in the RV, but nothing major.

Outdoorsy Insurance

Does anyone have any experience at all with Outdoorsy and their insurance? We have an 11 year old Class A that is in pretty good condition, and we want to rent it out to select individuals thru Outdoorsy who provide all the insurance and roadside assistance. We are using it ourselves a few times this year and have 4 rentals scheduled.

Power shades not working.

My right and left windshield power shades are not working. Even with the engine on. They worked fine a few weeks ago and don't now. I did replace all batteries and they are fine. Do these shades work off the house or chassis battery? I did reset the breaker for the front TV...no help there. Ideas anyone?

RE: Voltage problems

Update: All issues resolved. Last week, I unknowingly replaced the original 6 V batteries with 12V batteries and wired them like 6 V. They have been re-wired correctly as of today. The converter was burned out. Replaced. All operating smoothly now and all batteries are charging. Thanks to Brad and Jeff fron B&B Mobile RV repairs in Tulsa! They also took out my old TV and fixed my refrigerator.

RE: Voltage problems

Thanks, 10forty. The issue dates back before the new batteries, and now that i think about it, it all started with Camping World installing the antenna last month. (see above) I will test the main battery and it could be all co-incidental. The main thing is my electric panel and test panel does not light up.

RE: Voltage problems

Thanks Ray. Some of that is making sense. I had an indash CD player put in a month ago and I can't turn it off. It is always on. Another issue is a King TV antenna put in by Camping World in Tulsa and nothing has worked right since! CW denies anything was done incorrectly.

RE: Voltage problems

This is a 2002 Monoco La Palma, workhorse chassis. Four new 12 V deep cycle marine batteries and terminals and fuses. They are installed correctly. I get the same reading with the new batteries as i did before. My main battery is 4 years plus old. I do have an inverter, but dont know what it does. I bought this 16 yr old RV from a dieing friend and have poured a bunch of $$$ into it.

Voltage problems

I seem to have a voltage problem and it is affecting many items in my Class A. I installed 4 new batteries and fuses recently. Here are the problems: The panel lights are not lighting up. The refrigerator is not staying on LP during transit. The drop down windshield shades are not working at all. The generator is not staying on and is giving up and down voltage readings. BTW, ALL these issues were present BEFORE i put in the new batteries. I tested the old batteries and they were shot. Related to voltage? I need ideas.

How to quiet a noisy engine and transmission

2002 monaco gasser on a Workhorse frame. 8.1 Vortec, allison trans. Is there such a thing as an acoustic baffler blanket that can go in the doghouse? When pickup up speed, the Allison screams to the point i have to take out my hearing aids, which is OK, but then i can't hear my Darlin Person next to me...but then again...;) Cant even hear the radio.... Ideas please...or am i just stuck with it....and her...:)

RE: Time for new shocks

Does anyone have any experience with Monroe heavy duty shocks? That is all my truck stop carries. I am looking into the Bilsteins but the installer does not carry them and won't guarantee the work.

RE: Time for new shocks

Finding an installer is somewhat confusing,as tire dealers cant handle a motrhome and most RV dealers dont do shocks, tires or engine work. Go to a truckstop?
