RE: RV aluminum siding gauge?

The Diamond Plate I purchase has a protective film on it to prevent scratching before use -- I worked in the Park Model business for many years & the siding we used was .019 gauge -- The pattern in the metal has to do with it`s strength -- A sheet of aluminum with no pattern has very little strength -- Bends really easy -- Bill Willard

RE: RV aluminum siding gauge?

I`ve replaced the front of a couple of 5th wheel trailers with aluminum Diamond Plate -- You can get in a light weight with a bright finish -- I can get it here in the Phoenix AZ area for about $140.00 for a 4X8 sheet -- Can cut it with a grinder -- It looks good & no paint matching -- Bill Willard

RE: RV aluminum siding gauge?

.024 is the thickness that you need -- Go to a mobile home supply store -- They should have the siding in white -- Bill Willard

RE: Best way to repair leaking PEX water line? Sharkbite?

Best way to fix your leak would be to drive it down to Gilbert, & I`ll fix it for you -- The Black Friday price is FREE -- I have a shop here & work on RV`s -- More of a hobby & it get`s me out of the house -- I retired from the RV service business, working mostly on park models -- Bill Willard --- 480-540-7377 williampwillard@gmail.com

RE: 1994 Safari Serengeti DP

The generator is probably propane powered -- Make sure it runs good -- It`s not easy to find someone to work on them -- I think the Safari would be a good choice for a first time DP -- Not near as complicated as later models, & they are well built -- William Willard

RE: 1994 Safari Serengeti DP

We owned a 93 Safari with the Oshkosk Chassis -- The Safari was built very good -- However the turning radius of the Oshkosh was not very good-- The brakes are hydraulic, not air -- Probably no engine brakes & no air bags -- Rough riding - The good thing is you will have no air leaks, because there is no air system on the coach -- The paint Safari used was the best on the market & the sides are aluminum -- Cabinet work is great -- Over all we liked the Safari -- Had it for two years & traded it for a 96 Safari -- The hydraulic brakes was not a problem -- The 96 also had hydraulic brakes but it had a Magnum Chassis -- The 300 Cummins engine is mechanical & that`s not a bad thing either -- That it for a test drive, & pay attention to the turning radius -- That`s really the only thing we had a problem with -- Bill Willard

RE: I Am severely dissapointed.

Fixing the roof is only part of your problem -- You`re probably going to be faced with a mold problem -- Even if it`s not visible,it could very well be in the insulation -- Be alert of any odd smell-- Bill Willard

RE: Park Model Questions

To be classified as a RV, the park model can not be over 400 square feet -- Anything over that is a mobile home -- When I started working in the park model business in 1977, we had to have holding tanks in them, but later, that rule changed -- Bill Willard

RE: 12’ Dune Sport Toy Hauler floor replacement

I was referring to inside walls -- Probably can`t remove paneling from outside walls -- Bill Willard

RE: 12’ Dune Sport Toy Hauler floor replacement

The walls & floor are probably made of 2x2`s -- In the factory, the walls are made on a table & one side is glued & stapled -- The other side is left open so when installed, it`s secured with screws & then the paneling in stapled to that side -- Find the side that was not glued & remove the paneling -- Unscrew the wall & remove it-- Don`t worry about the ceiling falling or sagging -- It won`t -- The floor may be OK after it dries -- It`s probably 5/8th OSB & 2x2`s -- Homedepot will have anything you need -- Remember, You gotta tear hell out of it before you can fix it -- Have fun -- Bill Willard

RE: Bottom edge of aluminum siding trim

It`s pre-Formed -- When installing the siding, you start at the top & measure so the siding will come out on the bottom so the pre formed piece will fit -- Worked in TT factories for years & some of the time was installing metal siding -- Bill Willard
