RE: RVing in 2022

Positive point of view high gas prices may result in less traffic, fewer sold out rv sites, lower RV sales and eventually lower prices. Have seen it all over the last 20 years rving $.99 per gallon to $4.75 per gallon. Cannot wait to hit the road GoRV.

RE: class c with v10

Yes my 02 Ford E450 get 8 to 10. I would not worry about MPG if you want this lifestyle, had this rig for 19 years when gas prices was $.99 back in 02 to $4.25 in 2008. One can always tent camp. Go RV.

RE: Multimeter recommendation?

OP do you know what you are looking for to determine why your refrigerator is not working on electric? Are you trying to determine if it is the fuses? Could it be the Thermistor? Klein tools 600v for $55 is fine from Home Depot, used it last few years home, auto, and RV.

RE: Quality in a class C

My Winnebago has been great but you need annual maintenance. Being handy is a big advantage, only time to bring the unit to a professional was for tires. Ford E450 is a good chassis change the oil. Good luck we have the same unit for 19 years and still going. Be careful easy to justify buying more shiny tools :).

RE: When to buy?

On the one hand wait until things settle down but waiting may costs you up to 2 years of enjoying the RV life. I would do it now, never know what will happen tomorrow. I did not wait too long after 9/11 to commit. Still going strong with the 02 Winnebago. It comes down to you regardless of other great suggestions.

RE: When to buy?

If you think you will enjoy the lifestyle, including extra work required, maintenance & repair, offset by all the benefits of rving, I would not wait.

RE: Catalytic Connverter

Crusineasy, sorry to hear about the stolen CAT. Like others have mentioned insurance should help cover the parts and labor, try Rockauto, Autozone, Advanced Auto, NAPA for a new CAT. If you are handy should be able to install it yourself, E450 has a lot of room. Unfortunate to have to worry about CAT thefts, very difficult to stop them if you are not in the unit away from home.

RE: We've had 8 years and 68,000 trouble free miles...

Dessert Captain,
Great to hear you are a happy camper with a Class C. We have a Class C 2002, few similar maintenance and repairs as expected, but almost 20 years of great memories, still talk to grown kids about our adventures. Looking forward to another 20 years.

RE: levelers

My Class C is 30 feet 2002 and we have RVed for almost 20 years, only used wood to level it but not very often. We never stay for more than 3 days at one campground since the purpose of the Class C is to move often during vacation, except for Disney Fort Wilderness. I probably would have ordered it with levelers but lived without it.

RE: Dingy towing

The Ford E450 V10 is very capable of towing your Jeep Wrangler, it is a beast. I have the 02 Minnie and your 2018 should even have more capabilities. Personally I never towed, did not need it since my 30 foot unit is small enough. My Minnie is still going strong after all these years, congratulations on your Winnebago.

RE: Newby questions

We also considered Class C vs TT back in 02. Decided on Class C with 2 young children, costs of truck and TT and towing was an issue, minimum Pickup 3/4 ton. Class C advantages already mentioned but TT has more room. Our Class C has 2 slides, helps with room but heavier. Ford E450 V10 is a beast, great engine and chassis. Still going strong after 19 years, DIY mechanic and maintenance and repair is key, I like tools. Personally I like buying new since I keep it LT from quality manufacturer, avoided trading up. Never needed to tow a toad, Class C 30 feet is nimble enough, used bikes for exercise. Never had a TT so unable to comment.

RE: Thank Heavens for Our Motorhome

May not be the best bug out vehicle but will come in handy when the power is out. Take good care of the generator., it saved us especially during Hurricane Sandy, no power for 2 weeks. Hope people learned a valuable lesson from Covid, be prepared.

RE: Great Online Order Experience!

CW is very good for certain items for the price, however, you get what you pay for. Buy quality OE if available not worrying about $, so much better.

RE: Help with awning

Replaced awnings on 2 slides and 1 large awning over entrance. Instructions and OEM fabric not bad DIY project. Tools, ladder, OE fabric, not cheap after market ones from Amazon. Again DIY is a big plus for RVing.

RE: RV Fuel Issues & Prices - Post 'Em Here!

Gas prices should stabilize post Covid. I paid less in 2020, paying more in 2021, averages out. Personally I have been RVing since 02 when 87 test was .95 per gallon, up to $4.50 per gallon in 2006. I have a Class C getting 8 mpg, people ask me all the time the fuel economy, not sure why. I tell them tent camping is also fun less fuel. :)

RE: Running the generator all night

I run mine all the time. Change oil, air filter, and spark plugs. I laughed when the dealer told me not to use it often back in 02 when I bought the RVnew. They were thinking I would trade it in and upgrade so they get top $.
